Chapter Text
It's such a beautiful day outside. Peaceful, a gentle breeze grazing your cheeks as you stare into the blue sky. You see a small cloud shaped like the face of a cat. What a beautiful day. It smells like summer. You're already imagining what flowers you should grow next in the flower beds for the new season.
You slowly make your way back to your grandparents' little cottage, thinking about to the plants. You look back briskly, your heart racing in fear.
- "[Y/N], you don't need to do that anymore. Bad habits need to be let go."
Taking a deep breath in, holding unto your arm, you look forward, seeing the house in the distance, the sun high in the sky and your stomach growling for lunch.
You get home and greet your grandparents who are lazing around the porch, looking at the day go by.
- "You're back [Y/N]! How was your outing" your grandma said.
- "It was really nice! The sky is so clear today honestly"
- "I know you just got back, but would you mind making us a sandwich for lunch or something?" your grandpa seemed to be hungry and your grandma playfully smacked his arm.
You nodded, went inside the house, greeted by a cat's meows. You automatically meow back, out of habit and the black cat curls her tail around your legs, seeming glad you were finally home. You made your way to the kitchen, the cat following your around like a duckling and started making tuna sandwiches for your family, making sure to leave a bit of tuna for the fur child.
You went back to the porch, making sure to prevent the cat from dining and dashing out of the house, and gave the plates to your grandparents. As you sat down...
- "Listen [Y/N], we've got some good and bad news"
You hummed.
- "Yeah sure, what's up. Don't tell me it's going to rain tonight? I was going to put out new flowers."
Your grandparents looked at each other and back at you, a fire in their eyes.
- "Sweetheart, actually, it has to do about what will happen after, well, you know... when we move to another place. Catch my drift sweetpea?"
Your grandpa wasn't the type to beat around the bush. Something was up big time. You stopped looking in the distance and immediately focused on them.
- "What grandpa is trying to say. We're not sick or anything, at the moment. But it's a matter of time! And who will be able to pay for our hospital bills or the aftercare or anything really! The cottage is fully paid but the utilities is a different thing. And you're on a work leave so you don't have any revenue. Not that you should feel bad about that, we fully support you and we only want what's best for you dearie. I jus-"
- "Grandma, you ramble when you worry. It's okay. Whatever it is, I'm sure we can figure it out."
Your grandma visibly breathes out in relief and continues...
- "Well, we had a more than generous offer last week. A scouting team came in our neck of the woods and said that our house is EXACTLY what they were looking for as the location for a music video."
You spat out a bit of your sandwich by surprise looking at her, not expecting this event. She kept going...
- "Anyways. We let them in, as good hosts and all. Even the inside, they said was perfect. Must've been your redecorating." She gives you a shy smile and your grandpa continues for her.
- "So they loved the cottage so much and couldn't stop talking about your garden and flower beds... They insisted on having our home as the location for the music video and offered to pay a hefty sum for it.
You raised from your seat, visibly distraught and getting angry as you spoke on.
- "What?! You can't just allow strangers into our home just for money! What about our stuff, our habits, where will we stay while they record and all. And Jupiter! Poor sweetie is terrified of strangers! I don't think it's a goo-"
- "They're paying us 5 million honey." said your grandpa in a stern voice.
- "That's nothing! It barely pays fo-"
- "It's in US dollars sweetpea." your grandmother added somewhat timidly.
There was a silence. You plopped right back into your chair, absolutely aghast. You took a bit to process and finally...
- "Next time, lead with that. I can do anything with 5 million. They could destroy my flower beds, I can buy more flowers." you started giggling at the thought and your grandparents sighed in relief. "Some conditions though, if you don't mind communicating it to the team." Your grandparents gave you their undivided attention.
- "One room in the house will be completely off limits. They can move whatever they need wherever they want and they can use anything BUT one room will be off limits. My room. We will put our most precious things in there and that's where Jupiter will stay until the filming is over to reduce stress on her and prevent her from escaping and who knows what could happen to her." you were stern but your grandparents were quick to agree.
Your grandma left to make the call to the scouting team as your grandpa reassured you everything will go well and their future and yours would be settled and you wouldn't have to worry about going back to your hellish job if you didn't want to.
- "Honey, Sweetpea! It's settled, they'll be here next week, on Monday! They've agreed to our terms but they had a counter offer that I already accepted since it would be the most practical and they added 500 000$ on top of it."
You had a bad feeling about this.
- "We will be going to your auntie's for the duration but they asked if the gardener could stay behind in case they needed help with the flowers, colors, new plants, et cetera. On top of that, you'll be able to keep an eye on Jupiter and the cottage!"
… what?
