Work Text:

"Tell me, "  Kaveh spoke up after what seemed like hours of just basking in eachothers warmth, Alhaitham lightly tilting his head up to indicate that he is listening.

"Do you think we're soulmates in every universe?"

A slight silence followed, by no means uncomfortable. Tangled in their embrace Kaveh knew Alhaitham was thinking up a response to his question.

The warm sunlight on their bodies making this moment seem just like any other, like it will never pass.

Nuzzling closer to Kavehs collarbone, Alhaitham responded,
"Don't you suppose that's quite a silly question to ask?"

Kaveh frowned, albeit made no indicative to respond, his hand never faltering its movement of smoothing out Alhaithams hair.

"Each universe is different," he continued, " even with the slightest change theres a chance we could've never met, nonetheless have what we have now."

A slight sigh escaped Kavehs mouth, " I suppose that's true,"  his hand moving further down to caress his neck instead.

"There isn't a guarantee we'd be soulmates in every universe that could ever exist. That kind of fate would have to be divinely intercepted as such an idea isn't possible in most scenarios."
He paused slightly to think, breathing in Kavehs scent, humming in content.

"This doesn't mean we shouldn't treasure what we have now. Of all the universes that could've happened, I'm glad I'm here with you, right now."

Kavehs hand slightly faltered as such a bold statement, quickly going back to play with the tuft of hair on Alhaithams nape.
" Don't you think it's fun to think about all the different possibilities though?" he asked, curious about the others answer.

"Quite the opposite," he answered truthfully, closing his eyes at the comfortable feeling of Kavehs hand.

"I would rather not think about countless other possibilities of meeting you, when I have you here with me right now." He added, with a squeeze around kavehs torso.

"I'm happy with this universe, you and now."

They together basked in the comfortable sunlight, enjoying eachothers embrace. Million thoughts racing, and each understood , even if none were spoken aloud.
