Chapter 1: Nothing is stronger than the love between a parent and their child

Chapter Text

Six months. Six fucking months. Her daughters were in more danger than they've ever been and it was all her fault.

Not that she regretted killing that angel. Nothing could ever make her feel remorse over protecting those she loved. If only the guilt would take a hint....

Carmilla paused in the middle of pouring herself a drink, considering the bottle. Then she raised it to him lips and started to drink it's contents, the glass she'd been pouring herself before easily ignored.

She felt her daughters concerned stares on her back, but neither of them said anything. There really wasn't much left to be said that hadn't already been discussed.

Carmilla had known even as she killed the angel  that there would be irreparable consequences. She hadn't survived this long as an Overlord in Hell without being pragmatic. So as soon as she was able to, she mobilized all of her people to acquire as many angelic weapons that they didn't already own as possible.

Some were already in the hands of other sinners or hellborn demons. Those that could not be obtained through deals were torn from the former owners quickly cooling corpses.

Being the most successful and powerful arms dealer in Hell kept people from looking too deeply into her sudden covetousness, but she could tell that Zestial was growing suspicious. While Zestial was always particularly observant, it made her paranoid about the other Overlords finding out the truth. At least Zestial could be trusted, as he cared for her daughters as if they were his own. But she could never be sure about the others, since only a fool would pass up the opportunity to have an advantage over an Overlord.

Once she'd finished the contents of the bottle, she chucked it into a nearby trashcan and returned to her previous glass. The glass was sweating, which meant that the alcohol inside was already partially watered down but Carmilla couldn't care less at the moment. Bringing the glass to her lips, she turned to face her daughters.

Thankfully, neither of them were giving her concerned looks anymore. Instead, Odette was going over some blueprints while Clara was watching the television.

The television they owned was barely used since they had more important things to do than watch TV all day. The only reason they had it was to watch an occasional movie or show that they all liked together and it was by no means a modern one. Modern televisions are a lot less trustworthy when one of those WannaVees could use them to spy on and control the masses of the Pride Ring. Carmilla already found the Vees insufferable without the worry of one of them getting their filthy claws into her daughters.

Luckily, what was playing on screen wasn't anything Vox approved. Quite the opposite, actually...

"Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel!"

Carmilla rolled her eyes at the quaintly dressed group of sinners on screen. Anyone with a working brain could tell that there was something shady going on with the the Princess's pet project, no matter what the woman may say otherwise. Especially now that it was public knowledge that Alastor of all demons was involved with the Hotel. The only way any sinner would willingly go to the dump masquerading as a functional business is if they had ulterior motives.

And yet... she had the address of the hotel from the the last time one of the residents ordered weapons from her.

Carmilla put her glass down on the counter behind her.

She would always prefer her daughters to be within arms reach, so that she could protect them no matter what.

But if it were possible for sinners to redeem themselves to the point where they were truly allowed access to the most peaceful and happy place in existence....

Carmilla would prioritize her daughters safety over her desire to keep them close in a heartbeat.

"Mom, are you okay?" Clara, whose eyes that'd previously been glued to the television screen were now on her mother, asked.

Odette looked up from the blueprints she was working on, gazing at her mother with concern.

After a few moments of silence, Carmilla spoke. "Girls, what do you think about this hotel that can supposedly redeem sinners?"
