Chapter Text
When we found a port we decided the best choice was to take a boat and leave. Leave and go far, far away. The plan was to find a human settlement and ask for their help. Keep going until we found a strong enough settlement to be able to get rid of the demons and save the kids that we couldn’t. And there was no way we were going to stop until we completed our goal. No matter how long it took.

It took us 7 months and most of our rations but we made it to land. It was sometime during the dead of night but we managed to dock the boat in the sand and used a rope to tie it to a sturdy tree.
“Emma, Izuku!” Our heads immediately turned towards Ray. “I need you two to go check for any nearby settlements, demon and human alike. Take some weapons in case you find enemies but try not to get spotted. Norman, Gilda, Don and I will stay behind and look after the others.”
“You got it Ray!” Came Emma’s voice from beside me. I simply gave Ray a nod in understanding.
Emma and I gathered our weapons, a lantern, and set off into the forest. We could both hear the younger kids telling us to be careful but we continued on. We quietly moved through the forest keeping an eye out for any source of life. Emma was next to me with her bow and small pistol sheathed, but her knife out and ready for close range. I kept my pistol and knife out for both close and long range.
Unlike Emma I chose the firepower of guns of the weight of a bow. This caused me to carry several guns on me at all times as well as a few knives in case the guns were too loud.
After about a half hour of walking we could see what appeared to be torchlight in the distance. From where we stood we couldn’t make out if it was a demon or human settlement so we silently moved forward. Emma brought out her pistol and held it alongside her knife. We stood in the trees at the edge of what appeared to be a small village. We waited about 10 minutes watching for any movement but couldn’t spot anything.
“Do you think it's empty?” Emma’s voice was near silent next to me.
“Not sure, coulda been overrun if it was a human town.”
“Should we take a look?”
“Probably, let's be quick and quiet though.” Emma gave a nod and we moved forward.
We had barely made it under the window of the first house with our weapons ready and about to find out just who lived here when we both heard it. The sound of someone landing in grass, clearly trying to be stealthy about it. But even though we were each missing an ear, we had to have strong senses to survive.
We both whipped around guns pointed at whoever just tried to sneak up on us. Even though we quickly noticed it was in fact a human we didn’t lower our weapons. No way were we going to trust adults that easily.
“ Woah kids, you really shouldn’t play with those. Now how about you put them down before someone gets hurt. ”
Emma and I gave each other a confused look. The man was clearly talking but it was nothing that either of us could understand.
“Don’t dare move or we’ll shoot!” I whisper shouted to the man, nervous about waking up anyone else that was here.
“ Can you kids understand me? ”
“What should we do Emma?”
“I don’t know!”
The man slowly started to move so we kept our eyes on him as he put his hands in the air and lowered himself to the ground. Once he was fully on his knees, hands still up, he made no further moves.
“ See I’m not going to hurt either of you ”
“I’m a better shot with a gun so you go search him. I’ll cover you, I promise.” Emma nodded, put her gun away, and slowly moved towards the man, knife still in hand. Once the man was thoroughly searched he appeared to only have 2 knives on him as well as some weird box that lights up with numbers and words, as well as a picture of a cat. As weird as the box was Emma and I decided it didn’t look dangerous after we both looked at it. Maybe Ray would know what it was?
When the man started to move again I quickly pointed my pistol at him once more.
“ Don’t worry I’m just going to stand up. I bet you guys are hungry, do you want some food? ”
Having no idea what he was saying we watched him slowly stand up again before motioning for us to follow him.
“Do you think we should?” Emma asked me.
“No idea. We could learn more about this place but if we stay too long the others might get worried.”
“Then we’ll be quick”
“Yeah”
With that we both followed the man, weapons still aimed at him just in case, as he led us to one of the bigger houses.
“ This is where me and my class are staying while we’re here for heroics training. ”
“What do you think he’s saying Izuku?”
“Not sure, hopefully nothing bad.”
He opened the door to the house before touching something and the room's lanterns all turned on at once. Emma and I were startled for a moment and searched the room but found no apparent danger.
“ Do you kids not know what electricity is? ”
He walked further into the room to what looked like a weird kitchen. He motioned to a couple of stools at a counter for us to sit at. Once we did he got to work pulling out ingredients for food and cooking it. We kept our guard up the entire time guns pointed at him in case he tried to pull anything. When he was finished he dished up our food and put it in front of us. I was worried he had done something to the food even with us watching him. Apparently so was Emma.
“Think it’s poisoned?”
“Dunno let’s get him to eat it first”
We both pushed our food towards him and motioned for him to try it.
“ I didn’t do anything to it. I promise. ”
He took a bite then stared at us. After a few minutes of nothing happening we both carefully took bits of our own. It was surprisingly really good! Possibly the best thing we’ve ever eaten. We both quickly dug into our food, weapons next to us just in case. After a few minutes we could hear someone walking down the stairs on the other side of the room. I quickly turned and aimed my gun at the new person while Emma re-aimed at the man.
