"Can I kiss you?"
It's been a month now - even more - that Marisha couldn't sleep properly. She smiled at Matt awkwardly every time he found her sleepless, saying it was just the exhaustion that didn't let her get through the night without waking up shaking and sweating. Every night, every single one.
It wasn't much of a torture though. The dreams were sweet and soft, with careful touches, quiet voices, and precious words. With Laura's long concerned gazes.
"I can't tell if it's all right or not any more".
She was all goofy and overexcited when she heard these words in the game, but a few days later Marisha realised it was not Laura's character that got her. It was Laura herself. Always stunning, graceful and confident Laura Bailey, made Marisha breathe deeper and faster.
This day was no different from others lately. Though she had little sleep, Marisha was in a good mood. Just remembering all the scenes her subconscious showed her at night made her smile wider and shiver a bit, as an electric wave came through her body. She had a pretty clear life, everything was structured, but this night part was new and different from all she was used to. It was dangerous but so alluring. And Marisha couldn't find a single reason to resist.
She just had to keep it all to herself without giving herself away. Otherwise, she could risk destroying all the good that was in her own life and that of her friends, her dearest people. That sounded quite easy. But only at first. Day by day, in the game or after they shoot another episode, she couldn't help but try to catch Laura's smile or look, aching to hug her a bit longer.
She could easily hide behind all the crazy faces she made, and it was fine with everyone except for Laura. That one person who should have known the less, in fact, knew the most. And Marisha didn't realise it until it was a bit late.
"You busy, love?"
Laura appeared out of nowhere right beside her, and Marisha couldn't stop herself from smiling. Laura was so close with her tender warmth and tempting scent.
"Nah, not at all".
"Then give me a few minutes, okay?"
"I'm all yours".
"Good to know".
At that last part, Marisha swallowed hard, feeling some unexpected weakness in her legs. She followed Laura into some distant corner in one of the studio rooms. The upcoming conversation didn't seem nice and charming.
"What's going on with you, love?"
Laura turned around so suddenly, that Marisha almost bumped into her. She looked at Laura, all confused.
"Lots of things, honestly".
"Stop it. You know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't make that face. Not now. You've been acting like a schoolgirl, who realised she's in love for the first time, for over a month now. Don't take me for a fool, darling. Trust me, I see more than you could think. So I would ask you once again: what's going on with you? And don't you dare say, it's just some in-character thing, I'm not buying this shit, you understand?"
"I...", — Marisha just couldn't find the right words.
It took all her strength not to smile. Somehow the sternness in Laura's face was the thing that Marisha adored. Not the arousing Cheshire grin, but this "I'm gonna bite you in a second" attitude.
"I mixed it all up", — she said on the exhale and bit her lip. — "And whatever it may be, I'm still not over that day, nor that goddamn moment, nor you. And I'm still freaking out. That's it, I believe ".
She held a long gaze Laura gave her, not knowing what was going to happen next. There was no reaction, and it began to feel scary. In a few seconds, it would be the biggest mistake in her life. Marisha lowered her eyes.
"Really? Look at me, love. Right in the eyes. I need to know how much of a damn fool you are".
Marisha looked at Laura once again, all red this time, but still holding back the big smile. 'Cause it was the only way she could act around this woman lately. Laura rolled her eyes, stepped closer and kissed Marisha.
"This what you wanted?" — she asked with a smirk when they parted. Marisha couldn't breathe at the moment, much less speak, so she only gave a little nod. Laura rolled her eyes again. — "It's been years, love, years, that we are there for one another in any circumstances. So it doesn't have to be that hard to ask me of anything. Do you get that? Anything, love. And even if I'm not okay with something we better discuss it rather than I get these idiotic smiles of yours. I'm not talking about this, — she waved a thinger in front of Marisha's face, — but I hope you get the idea".
Still not able to say anything Marisha moved forward and pressed her lips against Laura's, all tense like it was another dream that was to end in a moment or some sick joke. Laura wrapped her arms around Marisha's neck.
"It's all fine, calm down for god's sake, — she said softly. — Seriously, out of all of us you've decided to keep secrets from me?"
"And what I was supposed to say? Hey, sweetheart, how about an affair? Pretty sure you would have punched me before I even get to the end of the sentence".
"Bullshit. Besides I am quite aware that you are into me. That was pretty obvious from the start".
Laura looked devilish with her wide smile and sparkles in her eyes. And Marisha had some kind of strange feeling, that it all meant to be, that it was all fine, though it hadn't to.
"Just so you know. All you have to do is ask. Quite sure it works only with me, but it seems like you don't need anything else. At least for now".
"What about for the rest of the days?" — Marisha asked with a shaking voice.
"It's totally up to you, love. But I'm here for you, at least I am".
"I believe I owe you a thank you. And an apology for acting weird".
"Accepted. So? Any wishes, while we have some time left?"
"Can I kiss you?"
