Chapter Text
The X-Hunter team was having an emergency meeting to discuss the next step after some surprising news.
- So, Pete contacted me today, to let me know he will be going overseas for the foreseeable future. His branch of the company here will be run by someone else that will probably pull his funding on the team. He said he set us up for a few months in advance for us to figure it out, but we should start thinking of alternate solutions.
They all absorbed the news and started to think of possible solutions, everyone noticed Charlie and Jeff share a look, the younger seemed to be trying to force his brother to say something.
- Guys, anything you want to share with the group - Alan asks them.
Charlie looked at them resigned and started explaining:
- Ok, we might know some people that could be interested in investing in the team but working with them might require an open mind about some things.
- What type of people? - Babe asked them.
- The Mafia kind - Jeff answers.
There was a moment of uncomfortable silence after that and Charlie tries to explain further:
- It’s not like the mafia, mafia, is more like their children. When Jeff and I ran away from the foundation we had some hard times evading Tony. He did not care much for me but he did want to get Jeff back.
North interrupts him at that:
- So, you asked for help from the mafia?
- More like we hide being around them, like i say, is their children, well they technically will inherit the family bussiness someday, but they were normally heavily protected. So just for being around them, Tony could not get close to us.
Babe asks next:
- How did you meet those people? Why do they even help you?
- I met them on college - Charlie answers.
- The mafia was in college? - Sonic asks, still kind of shocked about this new information about the boys they were receiving.
- Not the mafia, their children, their parents are the mafia - Charlie explains again.
Alan noticed he purposely avoid answering Babe’s second question,
- But why did they help you?
- You know, they are nice people - Charlie begins.
- Charlie dated one of them - Jeff seems to reach his max level beating around the bush.
Now from Alan's point of view, Babe was more upset by that than all the previous new information, but his friend is known to be a very jealous person.
- I was years ago, he is married now - Charlie is fast to add.
Alan decided it best to move this along before they get caught in this part and never leave.
- Why do you think they would be interested in investing, and is not like dirty money?
- They both have their own thing, if you really looked in the past, their parents probably helped setup but they run it on their own now. So they would probably invest with this money.
Alan was relieved to hear that, he did not know if he could get as much morally gray was needed to work with the mafia.
- Why would they even help? You are not dating one of them now - that was Babe of course, still hang up on this part.
- Racing is an interest of them, when we hang out with them we would participate in some illegal motorcycle racing event, Phayu is a mechanic and owns a garage, he is the one that got Jeff interested in it and taught him some things.
There was silence after that while everyone thought about what was said.
- I don’t mind working with the mafia - Kim argues.
- They are not the mafia - Charlies explains again.
- We don’t need them - Babe says.
In the end they all look to Alan for a final decision on the matter.
- I think there is no harm in meeting them.
And that was how X-Hunter meet the children of the Thai Mafia and eventually their parents.
