Kis kiss fall in love

Work Text:

It was still kind of annoying to not see people's names anymore, but Misa couldn't complain about not having to ignore thousands, if not millions, of letters and numbers clouding her vision at the stadium. Sure, having an inside into random people's lives was fun, if not borderline addictive, but this -the peacefulness of it all- was nice.

Misa laid back a little bit more, fanning herself with a delicate black lace fan. She sighed, dabbing a drop of sweat off her face and adjusting her sunglasses after they fell down her nose from the moisture. She really didn't care about the game of -whatever it was- that was going to start at any moment now, but she really couldn't leave. Scouting their seats for the Eras Tour Hologram Rerun fell upon her, after all. She was not about to disappoint her friends, and seeing how small the players were from here was a crucial step of the process.

So, no. Misa couldn't leave even if she was miserable. Her makeup had melted off fifteen minutes ago even before entering the stadium, and her outfit seemed to absorb the abundant heat of the day even if the fabrics were light and relatively flowy. She was lucky to have a pack of tissues in her purse, otherwise, she would have been an absolute disaster.

The weather would probably be better at the hologram show. Summer fell hard like hell around these parts. She heard rumors about one of the big lakes up north -those populated by some mer life- drying up from the heat. It was probably some corporate scheme- but damn it was still hot.

Seating was sparsely occupied around her -thank GOD- so when a body fell onto the chair by her side she couldn't help but tense up and let a surprised whine come out of her mouth.

"Oh! Uh- Sorry about that- Miss...?"

"Ugh." She shook her head, heat simmering up and gathering under her bangs. "Misa. Sorry, it's just-" She extended her hand for a handshake. "I wasn't expecting anyone to sit here.

"Uh...It's ok?..." He shook her hand. "Awkward..."

"Yeah, sorry about that-"

"No, no, sorry. It's just, I didn't choose my seat so-"

"Oh that's ok. I didn't choose mine either. You know? I'm just here to scout for a show."

"Hm..."

"Right."

"Oh! Uh. Me too actually! But not for me. Some girls I work with made me come."

"Huh. That's nice of you." Misa nodded. She took a handkerchief to wipe her mouth, the sweat dripping from around her nose and smudging her lipstick.

"Well, not really..."

"Huh? Why?" She asked with an open mouth, applying her lipstick anew.

"They said- Uh. Actually. I have no idea. They kinda just gave me the ticket and were like- Oh, Denji you have to go for us!" He pitched his voice, pouting. "I petsat your dog for you that one time and she gave you a bite of her muffin so like-" He put his tongue out pretending to throw up. "I'm here, I guess. I mean they wanted to know for a date night so whatever. I support women's rights."

"Uh huh-" Misa smudged the edges of her lipstick, checking into her retractable mirror. "That's actually nice of you mister!" She pocketed the mirror. "I'm here to see how far away me and my friends are going to be for the hologram show. You know? If the players are too small, then the hologram will look kind of patchy and we wanted to know weather to bring magnifying glasses or whatever."

"Right."

"Like, did you see the new collection of glasses they kind of dug up from a dead artist that wanted to work for VOGE? That high tech guy is working to make them into magnifying glasses. Isn't it that cool? I mean, it's a bit terrifying for, you know real life experiences, but-" She shrugged.

"Actually, I never heard of that. With my work I kinda-"

"Oooo, what do you work with?"

And so they went on and on, the conversation spreading and cascading until the game started, unnoticed.

"Yeah! He totally said that! You know, my ex was a terrible person-"

"I feel you."

"Like, yeah pop off I guess, but if you're gonna use me at least tell me about it!"

"Ugh. The dishonesty!"

"At least I'm over him. What about you?"

"Hm?"

"You said you felt me?"

"Uh- Well. I just had crushes on horrible people too but, you know." He shrugged. "I support women's right, but most importantly I support women's wrongs."

"... You look like you're gonna throw up."

"I don't wanna talk about it."

"Hey!" She grabbed his hand. "That's fine!" She smiles, and he returns it bashfuly.

Suddenly, the few people around them cheer.

"Oh, would you look at that!" Misa pointed to the big screen opposite them, focusing on a pair of friends just a couple seats below them. They waved to the camera, like everyone else on shot.

"Ow aren't they gonna kiss!?" He asked, tilting his head and in that moment he looked so much like a confused puppy Misa just had to grab his cheeks and plant a kiss on him.

They didn't see the camera moving onto them, because until a long time after it left they kept smushing their faces together, and as they separated he was left with red marks all around his face.

"Uh-"

"What are you doing after this?"

"Um. You-?" She kissed him again, both of their faces a mess.

"Yeah, good choice." He gasped.

"I didn't-!"
