Work Text:

Yoosung walked around the coffee table as he placed a variety of snacks. Him and his roommates were planning on having a movie night. He stepped away from the small table and took a long look at it. A smile creeped up on his face as he felt accomplished. The table ranged from sugar to spicy snacks. In the middle of the table sat an empty bowl, waiting for the popcorn to be placed in it. They were planning on making popcorn once everyone returned home. He double checked the table trying to think of what else they needed. Saeran came in carrying pillows and blankets. He went towards the couch and threw the items.

“Should we make a fort?” Yoosung asked while looking at the bedding. Saeran looked at him then looked back at the items. He shrugged then took a piece of grape candy. He chewed silently.

“What about drinks?” He asked after swallowing the rest of the grape candy. Yoosung grabbed a small pillow and threw it at Saeran.

“Don’t eat yet, everyone is almost here,” He paused, “Saeyoung said he was going to get the drinks,”

The front door of the apartment swung open revealing Jaehee and Zen walking in. The two older adults removed their shoes then placed the grocery bags on the table.

“We brought drinks,” Zen said as he rummaged through one bag. He took out a can of beer and opened it. Before he could take a sip of it Jaehee snatched it and took the first sip then handed it back to him.

“Thanks,” She said as she placed the individual drinks into the fridge. Zen looked at her incredulously but made no comment. He threw himself on the couch and laid there while holding the beer upright.

“Oh, I thought my brother was buying them,” Saeran asked walking towards the kitchen. He moved to one of the cabinets and grabbed a clean cup. He filled it with water then drank it while waiting for one of them to say something.

“He told us to get it,” Jaehee started to organize the kitchen, making sure it was neat and clean.

Before she could say anything further the door swung open once more and in came Saeyoung. He was carrying another two white plastic bags. The others could smell food coming from the foyer. Zen sat upright and watched him from a distance, eyeing the bag hungrily.

“I bought food!” He yelled while holding both arms up to shoulder length. He plastered on a big smile then jogged to the kitchen. “I gotta pee!”

Jaehee ripped the bags open checking the contents.

“We’re missing Jumin. What time is he getting here?” Yoosung asked, clapping his hands together. He looked around the room and noticed everyone shrugging while doing their own thing. He frowned, then checked the time, close to 7 pm. It was Friday night so he should be out of work by now.

“What’s the list?” Zen asked as he placed his empty beer can on the table, the aluminum making a loud noise upon making contact with the surface.

“We have,” Yoosung scrolled through his phone and read off his list, “The Prince of Egypt, Kung Fu Panda 2, Spiderman Across the Spider-Verse, Rush Hour, and Transformers”

“That’s a lot of movies,” Jaehee commented, as she sauntered towards the couch. She gently shoved Zen’s legs, who removed them for her, and sat down.

“Are we mindlessly watching or should I know some stuff about any of these movies?” Zen asked. Saeyoung hummed his way into the living room as he grabbed a bowl of chocolate, shoving a few pieces into his mouth. Saeran scrunched his nose upon seeing his brother’s grossly act, Saeoyung stuck a tongue at him.

“Well the only ones you have to know are Kung Fu Panda 2 and Spiderman. Other than that, one is solo and the other two are the first movies,” Yoosung replied, sitting crossed legged on the floor.

“Tell,” Zen folded an arm under his head and laid on the couch. This time he let his legs hang awkwardly to the side of the couch. Saeyoung nodded and explained the lore of Spiderman, Yoosung then explained the plot of the first Kung Fu Panda movie. The lore explanation for Spiderman took longer as Saeyoung tried to explain every little detail. Yoosung just wanted to start watching the movies so he explained it quickly.

“The only one I’ve seen is Transformers,” Jaehee said, her thumbs tapping on her phone vigorously.

“Really?” Zen looks at his friend with a questioning look.

“My ex wanted to see it. The plot sucks but the cgi is insane,” She did not break contact with her phone. Zen hummed at that then laid back down to stare at the ceiling.

“Where’s Jumin? It’s 7:45, already! We have so many movies to watch,” Yoosung exclaimed, as he got up to serve himself food.

“I’m texting him,” Jaehee said. “He’s typing,”

“He’s not dead is he?” Zen jokingly said. But there was an underlying tone of concern. It was unlike the older male to not text them if his train ran late.

“Sorry I ran into something,” Jumin swung the door open simultaneously, stepping off of his shoes. He was frazzled and looked to be moving carefully. His tie was unloosened and his suit jacket looked like it was pulled. His hair was somewhat messier than usual.

“Are you good?” Saeoyung asked, midchew. He eyed the last member with concern. His mood turned from playful to worry. “I bought spicy noodles,”

Jumin briskly walked to the spare room to change out of his work attire. The others shared a look of concern but made no effort to push their friend. They knew from experience that if they pushed too hard the ex-heir would shut down immediately. Saeran only sat in silence as he was handed a bowl of the lukewarm food. He picked up a few noodles and shoved it in his mouth. Yoosung handed two more bowls to Jaehee and Zen. He walked back to the kitchen and filled two more bowls for Saeyoung and Jumin. His own bowl was halfway done but he decided to go for seconds.

Zen placed his bowl on the coffee table and got up. “Getting drinks,” He announced but stopped midway. He placed a finger to his lips signaling the others to hush. They all got the message and stayed quiet, listening. Zen attempted to hear if there was anything wrong in the room where Jumin was, but he heard nothing. He continued walking and opened the fridge door grabbing their respective drinks. His arms were full as he gingerly made his way back to the living room. Jaehee grabbed hers then handed Saeyoung his.

“Let’s make a fort,” Saeran exclaimed, breaking the silence. The others stared at him but nodded.

After twenty minutes they completed their makeshift fort. They all smiled at their handy work. The fort was wide and tall enough to accommodate the six of them, it was distant enough for the television to be in full view. Zen and Saeyoung had to shove the couch a little further away, Jaehee and Saeran placed the dining chairs as support beams. Yoosung was in charge of placing pillows under the fort. The group became worried when they realized they were still a member short. Zen was tempted to barge into the room and check on Jumin. But five minutes later Jumin walked in and was surprised when he entered the living room.

“Finally!” Yoosung threw his arms up and crawled into the fort.

“Sorry,” Jumin said. He seemed a little distant now as he took a careful seat outside the fort. Before he could fully sit he was snatched by Zen and Yoosung. “WHAT THE-”

“You have to be inside the fort, dumbass!” Zen said as he wrapped the older male in a cat blanket. Zen decided to rummage through the closet and look for the cat blanket he bought Jumin a year ago. He bought the blanket after a whole scene broke out, he wanted to show the black haired man that he cared.

Jaehee smiled at the scene, she sat on Jumin’s left. Zen was on Jumin’s right, while Yoosung was on Zen’s right. The twin snuggled close to Yoosung’s right, the three younger members sharing a large blanket.

“How many blankets do we own?” Jaehee raised an eyebrow, she was amazed at how many pillows and blankets were currently displayed.

Zen shrugged at her. “Not enough,” He said. Saeyoung chuckled then started to scroll through their watch list. Yoosung placed the cold bowl and untouched drink on Jumin’s lap, and went back to being sandwiched between Zen and Saeoyung. Zen wrapped an arm around Yoosung. Jumin only slouched further down and wrapped the blanket around him tighter, shoving the food and drink away from him. He then thought better of it and placed the rest on Jaehee, deciding to share the blanket with her. She rested her head on his left shoulder and leaned to make herself comfortable. The ex-heir knew the others were curious about his earlier scene but was grateful they didn’t push.

“I saw someone,” He said. This brought the attention from the others as they glanced at him. Jaehee grabbed his left hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. He was not going to explain further about it but he knew they deserved some reasoning. He wanted to let them know that whatever it was, it was not their fault. “I also bought ice cream,”

“What when?” Saeran jolted up. He was craving strawberry ice cream. None of the members saw Jumin walk in with bags so they were confused.

“Yesterday. Strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, and mint,” He yawned a little and rested his head on Zen’s left lower arm.

“I’ll get some after the first movie,” Saeran said, placing himself back in his original spot.

“The popcorn!” Yoosung yelled. “Do any of you even want popcorn?”

The others shook their heads, Yoosung just buried himself deeper to gain warmth. He just wanted to get movie night started, he’s been excited all day. The clock was nearing 10pm and they had approximately 9 hours worth of movies. Saeyoung clicked on the first movie, The Prince of Egypt.

________

The light was breaking through the curtains, hitting Yoosung straight in the eyes. He looked around himself as he felt weight on both sides. To his left was Zen leaning back allowing him and Jumin to rest on the actor’s arms. Jaehee was curled up on Jumin’s left side with a pillow, the cat blanket loosely wrapping the two. To his right Saeyoung rested his head on the youngest’s lap. Saeran’s head was placed on Saeyoung’s forearm, the blanket was not even covering them. He glanced at the television and noticed the Transformers preview screen. He doesn’t remember much but he thinks he slept halfway through Rush Hour or the beginning of Transformers. He guessed the time was around 6 or 7am as the sun was peeking out. He let himself smile as he realized they all slept snuggling with one another, a rare occurrence.

Notes:

This is an AU where the members live together. I had this idea since the game first came out. Out of character for some of these guys. I LOVE the idea that these guys become a family. I want to write more so let me know if I should.
