"Okay, this better be worth it."
Loona and Octavia were perched on a rock at the surface of the water at sunset. Loona's black and white tail was wrapped around Octavia's grey one.
"It will be."
She set up the firework between them on the rock. She tried striking a match she found on the shipwreck. When that didn't work, she tried wiping it dry on the rock and tried again.
"Woah," said Loona, staring at the fire.
Octavia lit the firework. They watched as it burned down the fuse.
And the rocket shot into the air! Colours exploded in the sky!
"Woah! Okay, this was totally worth it."
Loona looked at Octavia. "This is why I love you. You see such potential in things. Things I wouldn't look twice at."
"You... love me?"
"Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't I?"
Octavia blushed. Then she jumped back into her head. Remembering the cigarette, she lifted it up.
"Wanna try this?"
Loona shrugged. "Sure."
Octavia tried to light it. It was just too waterlogged. So she laid it out on the rock under the sun, hoping there was enough sun left to dry it. They sat there for several minutes, waiting.
Then Octavia tried it again.
It worked. Not really sure what to do with it next, she tried sniffing it. She wrinkled her beak. It smelled terrible!
Loona snatched it, putting the end of it in her mouth. She blew out the smoke. "Not bad," she said.
"I think I preferred the sky exploder."
"Yeah, that was pretty cool," agreed Loona.
