Okay, skip this chapter if you would rather just read what I have.
Okay, I will likely never finish this. I'm more of a reader or a viewer. I have no beta-reader nor will I be checking over my work.
The ideas in this AU is that Sans and Papyrus are failed experiments of Gaster to create an artificial determination soul. He tried to make one from all the collected human souls because his thought was no determined human in the coming decades would try to throw themselves down Mount Ebott after reviewing the footage of all the humans that fell down. They were all disbelieving like they'd never seen monsters before. Therefore, no soul on the surface knows that they exist and would come to save them or eradicate them. He used some bone from his hands (triangles in the palms of all hands including his magic hands) to have a solid base. He collected other things from the underground to make the flesh, doesn't matter (yet if at all). Gaster didn't know monster souls were a culmination of all humans main traits but he also didn't get an even amount of DT. They become skeletons physically but he checks their souls and sees the slight hues of human traits more than a monster can possess and decides that even though they didn't achieve what he wanted, their was still something to gain. He oversees their growth and becomes attached. He donates a part of his soul to see what would happen after their growth halts. Sans became stable enough to wake up but papyrus was too unstable from the extra DT Gaster had given him because he got the majority of Chara's DT vials. (He has them because Chara was suicidal to free her family and get revenge but couldn't die because of DT so she asked him to take it disguised as a check up). Sans grows up considerably observant because his main traits are patience and Justice. He developed a love for science and eventually became an "intern" under a guise program for kids/youths. His sense of justice developed the more that he watched people around him so when he reads the fear Alphys has of Gaster and how disgusted she was when she read his files (DT subject 1) and Papyrus's files (DT subject 2). He begins to learn more about the subject of souls so he could understand what was wrong, coincidentally learning how to cater to his younger brother when he finally wakes up, and then comes cross another special project Gaster had to work on because a file was hidden in a book like it was a bookmark. He feels the need to know all about what Gaster was responsible for now knowing that Gaster was doing twisted things while he figures out what to do. He then discovers a flaw in the plan with the core that was marked to be reviewed by the Royal Judge. However, he read the judge had stepped down and it was sent to the King who instantly approved because he trusted his royal scientist. He tells the King but he feels the core begin to erupt as the construction began. The king asks him for advice and Sans tells him it's too late to turn back now. During the repair process, King Asgore keeps going to Sans to double check Gaster's work. Sans gets promoted to royal judge after he managed to salvage the lab and save as many people as he could when Gaster tried to run the expansion of the Core without approval. Gaster falls into the core, Sans tried to save him but could see Papyrus's container was about to fall and had to choose between the two. He chose Papyrus because he was an innocent child created by experimentation. He takes Papyrus as far away as he can out of fear of what the other scientists would do, unaware that no one else could remember Gaster when he fell in the void. Alphys became the royal scientist after re-finding Gaster's work and assuming it was never put to use. Papyrus wakes up when Sans makes it to a secluded section of the Hotlands. Papyrus's soul has three main traits: Kindness, Bravery, and Determination. Sans raises Papyrus, reconnects with Asgore when he notices issues pop up around the underground and enacts several policies to help things run smoothly and the two work out a schedule for Sans to work (later hidden by Sans going to hang out at "Grillby's" and being walked their by the dogs disguised as being extroverted with everyone). When Sans notices that he doesn't make enough money to support them, he gets another job with a store nearby which teaches him how to cook (one of the items is the waterdogs where he learns more about how expansive the underground is). One day, Papyrus comes home full of bruises from bullies because he was being too selfless and they thought they should toughen him up. Sans confronts them on their attempts the next day, he tells them to mind their own business because he could deal with any issues about it and that if they really cared, they would defend Papyrus instead of hurt him. The kids ask him to prove that he could defend papyrus so he uses his cyan bone magic against them. A guard overhears and offers him a position in the royal guard as a sentry because of his skills. He then gets enough money to get Papyrus a race car bed, a new set of clothes and enough food to last them a while. One day, after settling the business Asgore wanted to discuss, Asgore tells him about the previous Royal scientists empty home and offers the house to Sans as compensation for making a lot of the difficult decisions for him. He then also tells Sans to return the day after so he can get the official pass of the torch by Gerson. When he shows up, Gerson battles him because he knows that Sans is something wrong. However, through battling he can tell that Sans has a good sense of Justice and eventually begins to shift the battle into training Sans to take the magic abilities of Royal Judge. Sans unlocks more than just the magical abilities of the judge though, his magic barriers weakened and he learned how to use more types of magic, like yellow and green. The fluctuation had him curious so he came up with an excuse to visit the old lab and gathers as many books as he can. He gets spotted though and Alphys confronts him because she recognizes him but doesn't know why. He decides that working with scientists would probably help him make decisions as the royal judge because he would be more updated so he decides to re-intern with them under the new name Moment. Eventually the human representing integrity makes it through and is killed before he has to judge them. When Alphys asks for his help with DT experiments he decides he'd rather be the only subject if he can help it so he agrees. He discovers how to teleport then and his magic gates open making his arms glow in cyan patterns. He buys his jacket in the same color as integrity as a thank you for helping him unlock his abilities. Papyrus then confronts him about feeling lonely because Sans is always out so he quits his job at the store and warns Alphys that he will be spending less time in the lab so he can focus more on his young growing brother. He encounters Undyne and his mind tells him she went through the same experiments as them but got out because she had parents. He notices that she never goes home, that she would frequent a small section of waterfall and then he feels the waves of Gerson's magic reach him. When she leaves, he asks Gerson what happened to her. He reveals that Undyne had lost her parents in the explosion of the Core because they were on standby and went into immediate action after it went wrong but fell in too. He tells Sans that he was wa hung over her but couldn't invite her to stay with him without coming off as suspicious because he held a lot of items behind his shop from his time as the Royal Judge. Sans makes up his mind and finds her. When he does, he tells her that he needed help getting his items from New Home to a place called Snowdin and he would pay her if she'd help. She agrees, knowing that she needed the payment to keep her home and had been struggling to pay the rent since her parents died. Sans would pay her every day she helped and told her go home early but paid the same when she became to tired. He would use magic on the heavy items to move them when there was no one looking. On the last day she met Papyrus, who immediately came to hug her after he was told she was helping them move. Papyrus asks Sans to help her out more after noticing her shoes were bad like how his was a few years ago. Sans buys her a house fully paid from the funds he had been saving for a house for him and Papyrus before receiving the one from Asgore. He then brings her to her house 0and gives her the keys. He tells Gerson about it and teleports away before Undyne wakes up thinking it was all a dream. A week after they move into the house, Papyrus sees a fire monster outside and goes to tell Sans because his soul partially matches. Sans goes to look because of his brother's enthusiasm when he notices that the flame is dimming, the kid's clothes are all scrapped up, and he can see a blizzard coming. He brings Grillby inside, gets him back to health, and helps him earn enough money to start his own shop after being told by Grillby it was his dream. Papyrus grows up knowing that his brother is a part of the royal guard as well as knowing how kind his brother is. He dreams of becoming a member of the royal guard because of his brother. He trained for a while and United with Undyne. She trains him and he is well on his way despite her protests to the King. However, Frisk falls down. And falls down. And falls down. Repeating. Sans first thought it was just a dream that repeated and he'd wake up eventually. Except then came the first time he watched a true nightmare happen, all his friends and the monsters he knew, his brother, everything his life stood for died in front of his eyes to a human, he watched their levels climb, their experience and bloodlust soaring. The world didn't instantly reset then, his form stuck in pain but all was white in an unending void. He found the ghost of his brother panicking and he took him in his arms and hugged him tightly. Then they were sent back but it cost Sans, a fracture in his soul when he woke up. He hoped it was a nightmare that his mind had reacted to, that he just couldn't handle dreaming of a reality like that. Some part of himself had doubted that and was impelled to try to fix up the lab below the house. So every day after that when he dreamt of meeting the human in peaceful settings he would come back to find the progress in the lab continuing. Then the second nightmare happened but the void lasted longer. Instead of an unending blank white void though, his soul was blue magicked to what he thought was the northeast. The void then wasn't an unending white canvas, it merged into grey that faded into black. There his senses messed with him, a sensation his him both familiar and inexplicably foreign. Then he saw a figure he thought he lost forever, Gaster. Gaster who held a control over time, able to see all parts of the past. Gaster who hurt him but showed him affection. Gaster told him something that he forgot but 1 fact stuck, they weren't dreams. The next time that he "woke up" he followed the human, he watched them slaughter his family and he didn't intervene when they went to the King, he watched them kill the king and then a talking flower. He saw a yellow box pop up and then the kid turned around. He read "¿təsər" and watched them tap as quickly as possible while dots of red appeared. A knife was flung and then he was back home. Suddenly, he knew the repetitive days were actually repeating and he had to find a way to escape.
