Work Text:

Shoyou awoke to the decedent smell of French Toast. It wafted from the open bedroom door, and he greedily inhaled the scent. His stomach grumbled deep and loud and he curled into himself to stamp the discomfort it caused. As he shifted, the deep warmth pressed against his back groaned.

“Sho?” Tadashi mumbled.

Shoyou couldn’t find the energy for words, so he hummed, pressing his back further into Tadashi’s side who turned toward him and wrapped an arm around his waist. He mustered the energy to turn around and face his boyfriend, orange hair messy and springing up in odd places.

Tadashi’s eyes were still closed, his long eyelashes draped prettily over tanned skin. He tanned easier than Shoyou did and his skin was sun-kissed after a long summer in the sun. His freckles were also out in full force, spreading down his nose and across his cheeks. If Shoyou squinted he could even see the ones that decorated his ears.

Unconsciously, Shoyou moved to trace said freckles with a ghost of a touch. His fingers tested the water and Tadashi’s features settled into an easy smile. Shoyou found himself smiling too and allowed his hand to drift into Tadashi’s hair. He hummed happily, the sound reverberating from Shoyou until Tadashi mimicked it.

“Share,” a far more awake and deep voice grumbled from behind Shoyou.

Shoyou wrapped his arms around Tadashi tight, leg thrown over the other boy’s. Tobio grumbled something incoherent and Shoyou felt long fingers grab at his waist. He squeezed tighter to Tadashi, refusing to budge. Tadashi was warm and he knew Tobio only wanted him because he was cold.

“Nooooo,” Shoyou whined.

Tadashi let out a light chuckle and reached his arm around Shoyou, stretching out for Tobio as well. Shoyou felt Tobio scoot closer and share his Tadashi arm pillow. Shoyou shivered, he was right, Tobios hands were too cold. Not as cold as Kei’s though, consistently the coldest in the group while Tadashi was the warmest.

It was then that Shoyou remembered the French Toast and let out a deep gasp. He felt his boyfriends tense all around him and Tadashi moved to let him sit up.

“What?” Tobio snapped, eyes blown a little too wide.

“The love of my life is making me French Toast,” Shoyou announced, hand clutching his shirt over his heart.

Tadashi’s side of the bed shifted and he leaned his entire body weight against Shoyou’s back, arms wrapped around his waist. Tadashi must not have gotten great sleep that night, always being extra cuddly and lazy in the morning when that had been the case.

“We’ll take a nap today,” Shoyou said.

Tadashi sighed happily and Shoyou wound a hand in his hair. Tobio had given up on groaning and resorted to whining, left out again from the shorter boys’ affection. He wrapped himself around them both like a blanket, long limbs hanging off shoulders and kisses were pressed into hair.

“Why don’t we just sleep here all day,” Tobio suggested.

Shoyou was keen to agree, already feeling a bit drowsy again from all the warmth. But then he heard a pan clink and summoned all of his willpower to carefully slip out of the boyfriend sandwich, feet landing lightly on the wood floor next to the bed.

He saw the slow realization hit Tobio and Tadashi that he was leaving the room and made a quick escape before they could protest. He was much more awake now, energy hitting him full force after a good-night’s rest. He skipped down the hall and to the kitchen where Kei had his headphones on and was flipping some toast in a pan.

Shoyou snuck up behind him and bear-hugged him from behind. Kei froze up for a second but when he looked down at the arms around him just continued in his ministrations. Shoyou pulled his head underneath one of Kei’s arms to stare at the golden-brown bread being made in front of him.

“Shoyou don’t drool on my shirt,” Kei sighed.

Shoyou rolled his eyes, he definitely didn't drool. The smell of the breakfast hit him hard again and his stomach growled against Kei’s back. He peeked over at the table and noticed the array of fruits, syrups, and whipped cream that Kei had prepared for the group of them.

Shoyou squeezed Kei hard and he let out a puff of air as it was forced out of him. It made him flip the toast awkwardly, it landing on its side and sort of folding in on itself before he straightened it back out.

“Shoyou, stop it,” Kei said pointedly.

Shoyou did not stop it and instead nuzzled his head against Kei’s back. Kei sighed, turning around in Shoyou’s grasp, spatula magically gone from his hand. He reached down and scooped Shoyou up with little difficulty, depositing him on the counter next to the stove.

Shoyou giggled, grabbing Kei by the shirt and pulling him down into a sweet kiss. It was chaste, warm, and so full of love Shoyou felt himself get light headed.

“Gross, go brush your teeth,” Kei said as he pulled back, “I’ll call you guys out when it’s done.”

And with the way Kei was looking at him, how could he say no. His mouth was pulled into a soft smile, eyes shining in the early morning light. His blonde locks were arranged casually, bangs hovering over his eyelashes. It was almost time for a haircut.

“Kay, but take your time so I can come sit on the counter and watch you cook some more. I feel like a prince and you’re my pretty maid,” Shoyou beamed, hopping off the counter and scurrying to the bathroom.

He brushed his teeth as quickly as he could, seeing his other boyfriends had not moved from their place in bed and had instead resumed cuddling. Tobio was on his back, Tadashi’s face in his neck and most limbs on top of him. Tobio scrolled through his phone with one hand and pet down Tadashi’s back with the other.

He left them be and skipped back to the kitchen to find Kei about to put the last pieces of toast on the pan. Shoyou jumped up on the counter and did as he said, he just watched Kei cook.

“You have a staring problem,” Kei complained, blushing a bit under the intense stare.

Shoyou just shrugged, “I can’t help it if you’re pretty.”

Kei’s blush deepened and he set the spatula down to stand between Shoyou’s legs. He had a cute pout on his face as he chewed the inside of his cheek. Shoyou knew Kei wanted him to initiate but that’s why he made a point not to. After a second, Kei leaned in and stopped inches from Shoyou’s lips.

“Did you brush?” he asked.

Shoyou snorted, he sounded like his mom. Ew, no he couldn’t think about his mom when he was so close to kissing Kei. He gave a small nod and closed his eyes.

Kei connected their lips with a bit more force than before, making Shoyou put his hands behind him so as to not fall backwards. The blond settled his hands against Shoyou’s back, first loosely then he pulled him forwards so their bodies were flush. Shoyou pushed against Kei’s lips with vigor and tried to bruise the love he was feeling onto them. His heart rate spiked at how overwhelmed with love he was for his partners. Kei’s hands squeezed his hips and Shoyou smiled into the kiss.

“You’re burning the toast,” Tobio stated.

Kei jumped back, eyebrows pinched as he glared at Tobio. He flipped the, maybe too crispy, toast and just stared at it as it cooked on the other side. Tobio was leaning against the wall with a hip jutted out and arms crossed, this sassy pose that he had developed over the years.

“Tobio, c’mere and give me a kiss too. Kei just LEFT ME,” Shoyou barked out, side eyeing his tallest boyfriend who was still just staring at the toast on the pan.

Tobio didn’t need to be told twice, shuffling into the kitchen. He lifted Shoyou off the counter and let him cling, legs folded around his back and arms looped around his neck.

“You’re heavy,” he stated and before Shoyou could reply he kissed him.

Tobio walked them over to the dining room table and dumped Shoyou into his usual seat. The red head stumbled and had to catch himself on the edge of the wooden table before he spilled out of the chair. Tobio snickered behind his hand as he took his seat at the table as well.

“Tadashi! Breakfast!” Kei called, bringing over two plates of beautifully made French Toast.

He bent down and pressed a kiss to Shoyou’s head as he scooped 3 pieces onto his waiting plate. Tobio sat down quickly and looked expectantly up at Kei who, after putting on a show of hesitance, did the same for him. Except Tobio didn’t let him get away so easily, reaching up to cup his face and run a hand through his hair.

“You’re making it messy,” Kei groaned.

Tobio nodded, deadpan. Even after the 5 years of being in an intimate relationship the way Tobio and Kei interacted made Shoyou question how they knew each other loved them. He needed tons of affection, smiles, and words of affirmation. All the time. He was a needy guy, what can he say? That’s why he ended up with 3 boyfriends probably.

Tadashi came sauntering in, yawning every third step and crashing down into his chair with more force than necessary. He was certainly tired.

“Couldn’t sleep last night again?” Kei asked, rubbing a thumb where Tadashi’s eyebags had accumulated.

“Nope, I think I only got like 2 hours,” Tadashi frowned and poked at his plate without actually eating any.

Kei frowned too and put a hand to Tadashi’s forehead but didn’t say anything. He wasn’t sick then, just his usual insomnia that he refuses to take his meds for.

“Well I’m all for a lazy day, let’s just cuddle and watch movies and nap and…” Shoyou was getting louder as he listed things off so Tobio shoved a piece of toast in his mouth.

Shoyou melted at the flavor and shoveled another piece in his mouth instead of finishing. Tadashi offered Shoyou a pained smile in thanks.

“That’s fine with me,” Kei said. Tobio nodded in agreement.

Shoyou let out a ‘woohoo’ muffled by the food in his mouth and got chastised by all three partners for spewing chewed food on the table. They talked and teased throughout breakfast and when they were done Shoyou pulled Tadashi into their bedroom again and switched on their massive 80’ television.

Tadashi was tossed in the middle of their massive bed, bundled up in all sorts of blankets and stuffed animals. Shoyou was next, attaching himself to Tadashi’s side and once again tracing his freckles with a finger.

Kei and Tobio sidled up on the other side of Tadashi, Tobio pulling Tadashi to lay more on top of him and Kei wrapping an arm around Tobio’s shoulders, one leg thrown over as many of the boys as he could reach. Which was a lot, the tall bastard.

“What should we put on? Tadashi?” Shoyou asked.

Tadashi tried to shrug but with all the weight on him it came out more like a trembling of the shoulders. Shoyou didn’t give the others a second to complain and put on Tangled. Tobio whined about it being the third time this month but quickly shut up as the intro sequence began.

Tadashi was fast asleep by the time Rapunzel was singing about her daily activities and Shoyou was dozing fast too. He looked to Kei and Tobio and found them wrapped up in each other, Tobio leaving lazy kisses on Kei’s neck and Kei running a hand through Tobio’s hair with tender affection that never left this house.

Shoyou’s heart swelled with the love that had cultivated between these four men. It was special, something he never thought he’d find. But now it’s his and he’d go through anything to keep it that way. To have Tadashi asleep in his arms, Kei and Tobio bickering lovingly between kisses. It was undeniably the best part of his life.

“I love you guys so much,” Shoyou said, breathless suddenly, “more than volleyball.”

Tobio turned away from Kei to stare at Shoyou, “I sure hope so, we’re married.”

Shoyou shrugged, he didn’t mean it that literally but of course Tobio would take it that way.

“I love you too, Sho,” Kei said, “I love you all.”

He was right up in Tobio’s ear and Tobio shivered, shooting a glare at Kei.

“Yea, yea. I love you idiots too. Now shut up. Tadashi is asleep and Flynn is about to smolder, this is important,” Tobio said.

Shoyou hummed and turned back to the movie. Kei didn’t relent and kept kissing the shell of Tobio’s ear, his weak spot, and Tadashi wrapped his arms around Shoyou unconsciously.

Yea, way more than volleyball.

Notes:
