The Truest Lie: Nefileth

Summary:

In a realm far from our own, laid upon the strings of the grand Lyre, lies a land full of profound mystery, truths, and lies.

This novel is a purely original work made by the creator. It is inspired by nothing, and I apologize if it seems to be. I wish you a fine read.

Chapter 1: The Folly of Mother and Man

Chapter Text

           What is a truth, if all truths are merely lies agreed upon by the majority of man? And what are lies if not the verse? In this cruel, everlasting melody that plays throughout the realms, is there even a truth to begin with? A song is a story, and a story is truth's greatest lie.

           Allow me to tell to you a lie. A lie that I shall tell to you as the honest-to-creation truth.

           Many times ago, a singular tree stood amidst all creation. A tree whose branches only grew as nonexistent time passed. Sordakk, creator, mother, took a branch from this tree. She curved and carved for many years until the basis of her instrument came to fruition. Sordakk could not play her song, however. No, she lacked strings. As there was no spiders nor silkweavers to craft her string, Sordakk took locks of her own hair, intertwining them into strengthened strings, and once she began to play, creation came into being.

           First was a creature with no brain nor function. Next were creatures that could reside only in water. Then, her seemingly finest creation eventually came; humans. Sordakk was proud of these 'humans', and watched them with the fond eyes of an endearing mother. These humans created and built, just as she had. In this path of creation, however, their breakthroughs only brought them many steps closer to their inevitable destruction. Sordakk could only observe with crying eyes as her beloved 'humans' massacred their home, only to abandon it and repeat the process. As such, she was forced to send barbaric assassins to kill these disappointing children.

           Sordakk could not come to terms with her decision, however. And, as such, she made realms, timelines, and alternative universes. Time and time again, she watched as the humans destroyed themselves. An inevitable fate given to them by their folly. The sins they so believed would drag them to hell did as such, and no currency could buy them access to heaven's gate. Sordakk, realizing her own folly- her own sin of greedy desperation for her children, eventually gave up on these humans. They would live, they would die, and they would eventually go extinct. Just as all of her creations before them. So, she replaced Earth in a singular realm. A realm that she shall never retry;

           Nefileth.
