You Can Look But You Can't Touch

Summary:

Boscha and Skara sneak out of Hexside on the last day of school just to come to Glandus to have the schools’ yearbook.

Insert Boscha casually and instantly falling in-love with a measly photo of Bria in the process

Notes:

Im going CRAZY for brischa!!

Honestly I just made this in one go and I didnt want to bother someone to proof read it for me.

If I could get some suggestions on my writing to improve it that would REALLY help!

Work Text:

Skara and Boscha snuck into Glandus High on the last day of school. Currently the duo was inside Hexside but not for long as they slipped behind crowds of students quite easily and left campus. The streets of the Boiling Isles at this hour were populated and not as crazy as it usually would be.

The girls continued walking into a bushy trail in a thick forest until they were greeted with a grand magic school. There were a few students scattered around the entrance, chatting amongst themselves.

Skara and Boscha grinned at each other and casually strolled towards the school. Nobody batted an eye and kept to themselves when the Hexside student’s made their way inside.

Inside the magic school had an oddly similar architecture as Hexside. Hallways were lined with rows of lockers and cut between a door to a classroom. The layout of the school was eerily identical to Hexsides. With that in mind, it only made it easier for the two to find the area where staff was giving out yearbooks.

Boscha approached a table that didn’t have any Glandus students lined up at.

The triclops leaned against the table, looking at one of her hands arrogantly. The staff member who was giving out some yearbooks stared at the obvious Hexside student carefully.

“Hi, yeah, can you give me a book?” The potions student said quickly and snootily as if this person was wasting her time by simply existing.

Boscha grinned, looking up from her nails to glance at the person across from the table. The person rolled their eyes and reluctantly gave the girl two yearbooks. Boscha hummed approvingly before sliding the books under her arm and strolling over to Skara who had their back pressed against a wall, waiting for the redhead.

Boscha passed the book over to the bard student, Skara smiled widely. The two snuck around the halls and found themselves inside an empty library.

It wasn’t huge like Hexside’s but it was almost as impressive. The duo sat down on the clean, wooden floor and they quickly murmured to each other how they thought Glandus’ yearbook would be like.

Boscha cracked open the thin yearbook. It was formatted neatly and had a table of contents page. Boscha skimmed over the table of contents and it’s numbers. Similar to Hexside, Glandus High was also K-12 which meant the yearbook included the students from kindergarten through twelfth. She flicked through a few pages of grades which had consisted of small portraits of students and their names but she didn’t care for them too much.

Eventually Boscha stopped flicking through and halted on one page which had her own grade and students that were the same age as her. From witches to humanoid demons who wore their assigned uniform that indicated what coven they were training for, Boscha took a double glance at this one student that had caught her eye.

She was a witch with lively purple hair. On the side, her hair was clipped by a small teal hair clip. The ends of her hair faded into a dark purple and the tufts of it were spiky. Her skin was pale, littered with freckles, and her upper lip was tinted a light apricot color. Her uniform was just like the other students except her tunic was a shade of brown, that meant she had been studying construction magic.

But what stood out most to Boscha were those wide, owl-like eyes that burned a fiery hue of orange. Her eyes weren't dull like the others, it was like her eyes showed a deep passion for something. Boscha didn’t know what it could’ve been but it could’ve been anything.

All three of Boscha’s eyes blinked, and it kept a close eye on the witch before glancing her eyes in the direction of the name that hung just below the girl's portrait.

Bria.

Boscha felt her heart toggle a bit. She was curious to know even further to who this girl could have truly been rather than the name that defined her. She wanted to know the girl's interests and passions, her dislikes and fears. If she could just get a little description of her personality, that could have sated Boscha but even when she gets that little descriptor her curiosity would only grow.

Boscha was slightly frustrated that she couldn’t just find this ‘Bria’ girl and have a conversation with her at this very moment. Boscha blinked again and looked up when she felt a gentle hand touch her shoulder, she turned and saw Skara, pointing and snickering at a familiar construction magic user that was associated with Gus Porter.

Boscha rolled her eyes and scoffed at the mediocre photo of Matt Holomule. His hair was greasy and so was his chin, it could’ve been laughable but it was pathetic enough not to be by Boscha’s standards.

Skara’s little snickers quieted down once she noticed Boscha’s unimpressed expression. She glanced down at the photo that she had noted of that the three-eyed girl had been looking at quietly. Skara read the name quickly and looked up at Bria’s appearance. She wasn’t too intrigued by it unlike Boscha who was actually looking back down at it with Skara.

“Do you know that girl?” Skara asked softly with an appropriate amount of curiosity.

The triclops just looked at Skara with an annoyed attitude, she oddly got defensive at the question.

“Pfft, no. I don’t associate with Glandus students.” Boscha drew out in a sneer at the name ‘Glandus’ before flicking to another page.

Skara caught on with the upset expression Boscha showed and she decided not to push the matter any further. Boscha was internally grateful that Skara didn’t say anything after that.

A few more flicks of sleek paper from Boscha and Skara’s hands and they both reached the glossy back cover. The book was unsatisfyingly short but then again, the school probably wasn’t looking to impress with a measly book keeping record of the students they had.

The triclops shut the book together and placed it onto an empty shelf. Skara did the same with the other copy of the yearbook she got ahold of.

Skara piped up again, talking about how the yearbook had some boring pages in it. Boscha wasn't listening to her as they walked out of the library and into hallways.

She kept thinking about Bria and her face. Bria was so different and exciting, it was absurd how long Boscha dwelled on the girl as a whole.

While Boscha stayed quiet, daydreaming about Bria subconsciously, Skara eventually noticed that her friend had been uncharacteristically silent this whole time reading the yearbook so she figured to quiet herself down as well.
