Chapter Text
Kageyama didn’t know exactly what had happened; the team had just been heading to a training camp. Nishinoya and Tanaka had been loudly joking around while people spoke softly around him. Every now and then, a loud “QUIET” from Daichi would bring a brief silence, only for the noise to resume after a few minutes.
Then, suddenly, there was a loud crash, and the bus tipped over. It must have hit something that caused it to lose balance. Kageyama tried to remember the fall, but there was nothing. He managed to open his eyes after a few seconds, only to realize in horror that a fire had broken out a few meters away, likely caused by the accident.
Kageyama closed his eyes, but he immediately opened them again in panic when he noticed that the entire bus was empty. He looked around frantically, but there was no one. He was alone…
As he realized this, grief and disappointment overwhelmed him. Did he really believe his team wouldn’t abandon him? What a hollow wish… a dream that had just burst. How wrong he had been.
After a few minutes, he first noticed how hot it had become around him. He opened his eyes, which he hadn’t realized had closed. Flames now surrounded him, and breathing became difficult as he gasped for air.
He had to get out, he thought, and tried to sit up. But as he did, a sharp pain shot through him. A pointed metal rod was embedded in his right side, which he had not felt due to adrenaline and the chaos before.
Great, he thought, assessing the situation with two possible outcomes: Either he freed himself from the rod and tried to get out, or he would die alone and abandoned.
