Work Text:
Madara Mikejima sat in the cold, barren interrogation room. The metal chair creaked under his weight as he leaned back casually. His eyes betrayed nothing. His hands were cuffed, but he looked more amused than worried. His brown hair cast a shadow over his bright eyes.
The police officers stood around him; their faces a mixture of suspicion and frustration. They had been questioning him for hours, but Madara stuck to his alibi – no matter how unbelievable it seemed.
Outside the room, Kohaku Oukawa, the youngest and sometimes most unpredictable hero of the city, waited impatiently. He had stormed to the police station as soon as he heard Madara had been arrested. His pink hair glowed under the fluorescent lights, and his lavender eyes were narrowed in anger. The moment he was allowed in, he rushed past the officers and stood defiantly in front of Madara, arms crossed.
"Madara-han is innocent... He couldn’t have killed anyone," Kohaku declared firmly, indirectly confirming the alibi the older man had given the police. The hero's voice echoed in the small room. The officers exchanged confused looks, unsure how to react to the sudden appearance and confident statement of the young hero. Madara sat there, relaxed and grinning at Kohaku's words. Perhaps it was also because he noticed a hickey on the hero's neck.
A young, inexperienced officer couldn't hide his skepticism. He raised an eyebrow and blurted out, "How do you know he's innocent?!"
Kohaku met the officer's gaze with unwavering confidence. "Because we spent the night together," he stated simply, ignoring the "I told you I wasn't alone~" from behind him. He watched as his words sank in, and the room fell into shocked silence.
Madara's lips curled into a mischievous grin as he observed the scene, clearly enjoying the shock on the officers' faces. The rookie's face turned red, and he stammered, "And what about when you were asleep?"
Kohaku grinned just like Madara as he leaned slightly forward, his voice lowering to a teasing tone. "Oh~ we didn't get any sleep during the night~”, he purred, letting the implication hang in the air.
The room exploded with whispers and shocked exclamations. The officers didn't know whether to believe the hero's audacity and statement or to further question the nature of his relationship with Madara.
The lead investigator on this case, an older man with years of experience dealing with villains and heroes, finally spoke up, breaking the chaos. "Enough! If Kohaku says he can confirm the suspect's alibi, we need to investigate further. Check the surveillance cameras in the area and question the witness who claimed to have seen Mikejima-san."
As the officers carried out their orders, Madara leaned back in his chair. His eyes sparkled with amusement as he looked up at Kohaku. "Thanks for the rescue, Kohaku-san~... They didn't believe a word I said," he said softly, so quietly that only Kohaku could hear him.
Kohaku rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress the small smile playing on his lips. "It's nothing, Madara-han. Just don't make a habit of needing to be rescued."
Madara laughed quietly, his eyes not leaving Kohaku. "Can't promise that, Kohaku-san~ Besides, I like being rescued by you, my hero."
Kohaku's face turned slightly red at Madara's words, but he quickly recovered and shook his head with a sigh. "You're impossible, Madara-han. But... we should find out who’s trying to frame you."
Madara's grin disappeared immediately, and a serious expression appeared on his face. "I already have a few ideas, but are you sure you want to get involved?"
Kohaku's eyes hardened; his resolve was clear. "This already involves me, Madara-han, and I'm not going to leave you to handle this alone."
The older man caught his breath at his "former" partner's words. He was used to doing everything alone since he had been betrayed and labeled as a villain, and yet here stood this little, cute hero before him, standing by his side. Saying that he wouldn’t let Madara face this alone. "If you want to help me... then please release my handcuffs. I can't use my ability while I'm wearing them." He raised his hands, causing the cuffs to clink slightly.
The hero let his gaze drop down and grinned slightly again. "Hmm… I don't know. I like seeing you in handcuffs outside the bedroom."
"Kohaku-san?!"
