Chapter Text
“You have the key, right?” Eduardo hummed in response, as he pushed the door to the house open.
After a grueling football season, Jude had come up with the idea of spending two weeks away for some much-needed recharging. They had decided to rent a vacation home, and while Jude was skeptical due to the sheer size of the house, he decided to go through with it anyway, it wasn’t like he couldn’t afford it anyway.
The first floor was very spacious, and there seemed to be windows everywhere he looked. Eduardo let out a surprised noise as he dragged his luggage deeper into the house. He couldn’t help but stare at the look of wonder on his face, and the gleam in his eyes as they darted around the room.
“Let’s drop our bags off upstairs, then head out and get food,” Jude said, looking back at the man, who smiled back at him. As they climbed up the long flight of stairs, Jude hummed to himself, staring at the different pieces of art that decorated the walls.
There was an array of different closed doors that went down the hallway, and where there wasn’t a door, there was a window.
“You wanna choose your room first?” He asked, but Edu waved him away. “Choose yours first, so I can steal it if it’s better,” he laughed at the end, pushing Jude towards the door closest to him. The man shoved him back while laughing, before opening the door.
Inside the room was one of the most baffling things Jude had seen in a long time.
The room had not one, not two, but four different beds lined up on each of the walls. The two men both felt their brains go blank for a second, trying and failing to take in the scene in front of them.
“This is- absurd! ” Jude couldn’t help but say out loud, Edu only nodding in agreement. The two men walked further into the extremely spacious room. After a few minutes of exploration, they discovered that the room included a connected bathroom, their own thermostat, and even more blankets stuffed into the drawers.
“What if we just, like… both use this room?” Jude said, turning back to Edu. The Frenchman took a moment to consider the idea, bringing his hand up to his chin. A moment later, he shrugged, dropping his bag onto the bed closest to him.
“Why not?” The two men stared at each other for a beat, before they both broke out into smiles, as they left the room.
Eduardo let out a long puff of air as he pushed the door open, leaning against it dramatically.
The thought of spending the day out had seemed like a good idea in the morning, but they were proved wrong.
“Staying out that long was a mistake,” Jude groaned, throwing himself onto his bed face first. The bed itself was extremely plush, and he sighed, reveling in the comfort the foam brought him. He heard movement come from the other side of the room, but didn’t bother to give it any attention, knowing it was just Edu.
Instead, he pulled his phone out of the pocket of his sweatpants, giving himself some much-deserved scrolling on the internet to pass the time until he could finally sleep.
“I’m taking first shower,” Edu suddenly said from his side of the room, and Jude instinctively looked up from his phone in his direction. There the man stood shirtless, his silhouette illuminated by the bathroom light that slipped through the slightly cracked open door. He couldn’t help but stare; it wasn’t like he had never seen the man naked before, but it was a sight he’d never pass up looking at.
A beat passed, before the Englishman finally responded, nodding his head at him with a grunt.
After the two had each taken their separate showers, it was well past the expected time to finally start turning in to bed. The room was plunged into darkness, the large window finally closed, and the two midfielders were finally alone, with nothing but their thoughts, and the extra beds.
Time seemed like it didn’t want to pass for Jude. It may have been because of the alcohol in his system, but each second felt like a minute to him. Eventually, he let out a groan, sitting up in the bed.
“Dude,” he whispered, hoping that he wouldn’t be left alone with his thoughts for the entire night.
“ Dude!”
“ Hm?”
Edu had finally whispered from his bed across the room, and he almost couldn’t hear him.
“ It’s too cold, I can’t sleep.” Jude said, bringing his blanket up to his shoulders as he spoke.
“ Go check the temperature then,” Edu mumbled back, and Jude could see him shift in his bed.
“ But, I don’t want to,” he replied, letting out a small chuckle when Eduardo turned to glare at him.
“ Then stay cold.”
Jude sighed, before pushing the blankets off himself. He could go grab another blanket from one of the drawers, or even just raise the heat with the thermostat, but if there was one thing being an older sibling taught him, it was how to be annoying.
Making the walk from his bed to Edu’s, his feet shivered against the cold tile flooring in the room. Finally standing in front of his bed, Jude smirked, before beginning to pull the covers away from him.
The man let out a shriek as they began a tug of war over the piece of cloth.
“ What’s wrong with you!” He yelled, before Jude had finally pulled the blanket out of his grip. The Englishman then proceeded to push him aside, and lay down onto his bed.
“I guess we’re just gonna have to share body heat then.” Jude said innocently, before turning over, and placing his head onto the pillow. The silence was deafening, and a grin slowly grew onto Jude’s face, until a hard slap landed on his bare shoulder.
“ Ow! ”
