The Dawn after Dark

Summary:

Myra's life had been almost all her life tough. Not fitting in the world she lived in, until one day everything changed. Some things good and others bad. Some almost shattered her to pieces.

After she had slept for a long time, she found a world in chaos as she woke up. Meeting people that reminded her of her past and changing her view on herself.

Would her world shatter again in the end? Or would she find her final home for life?

Notes:

Since I thought way too long about if I finally gonna post my fic or not I decided to just do it, because why not.

It's been a long time since I actually posted on Ao3. Feels good to be able to write again and I love my story.
Mostly I wrote this fic for myself with the intend to post. So please be gentle if there are errors.
It's also the first time I wrote in this fandom, literally my new obsession. Also I always loved the series, so it was about time to write something about it.

And to let you know it. I semi follow canon but the fic is more about how they fall in love and their story. Just a cute little fic.

But enough talked I let you finally read my new fic!

Hopefully you enjoy it!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Myra didn't know how long she slept or how long she was walking in the Fade. Probably hundreds of years, when not longer. Seeing how the world kept changing and changing. It was refreshing. Even if it meant seeing different Empires getting destroyed.

Myra always said to herself there could be worse things. She was so old by now. Sometimes she felt tired of it. Sometimes she just wanted it to end.

But this day brought something new. It was an actual person in the fade, an elf to be exact talking to a spirit of wisdom. Walking closer and closer until they could feel her presence, if they hadn't already.

Wisdom was the first to speak. “It's you.” Walking even close to Myra.
“Who is this?", she heard the elv ask.

“Myra.” Wisdom answered.

“So not a spirit even if she looks like one?”

“No, not a spirit. She's been asleep for a long time.”

As they kept talking as she wasn't there Myra felt something she hadn't for a long time. Knowing what it meant.

She was about to wake up.

***

Opening her eyes after such a long time was confusing. Looking around she saw familiar things that looked not familiar anymore. Everything lost in time and nature.

Standing up after such a long time made her fall to the ground. Her legs couldn't hold her.

“Master! You are awake!” She heard a very familiar voice say. It was Rouge.

Looking up at her companion. “You stayed.”

“Of course I did.”

Wanting to know how long she waited she asked. “How much time went by as I slept?”

“About a few hundred years. Can you stay, Master?” Rouge tried to get Myra up to stand.
It semi worked, but now she was sitting at least.

“I feel so weak. I didn't think it would be so bad.” Signing while breathing out.

The next moment both heard a very loud noise. “What was that?”

Her companion instantly went into defense mode. “Intruders. Stay here Master, I will take care of it.”

Not knowing how long she just sat there until she tried again to stand up. It was hard to stand because her legs didn't cooperate. Using walls and pillars to move. Myra had to check on her friend and companion.

Hearing fighting after a while she tried to move faster. Seeing who Rouge fought she shouted and made everyone freeze. “It's enough!” Everyone's eyes were on her.

Feeling how her legs gave up under her she fell on her knee and hands.
“Master!” Myra heard her friend shouting. “Are you alright?”

“I'm fine.” Looking up to the Intruders. “Who are you?” Looking at the group. There was a qunari, a dwarf and two elves. One of the elv looked familiar in their group. “You…I know you. You were in the fade.” Before anyone could say anything she felt how she lost consciousness, she was still so weak.

***

The next time she woke up she lay on her back and people were talking. “It's my Master's home! She just woke up a few moments before you came here, so leave!” A Pause happened. “Master is awake.”

Hearing footsteps she turned her head to the group.

The elv she recognised was beside her too. “How are you feeling?”

“Weak.” Looking up to look in his face. The feeling of her knowing him was even stronger. It wasn't because she saw him earlier in the Fade as she was still asleep. She just couldn't remember why.

“I'm sorry we burst into your home.” Myra heard a female voice say so she turned her head to where it was coming from. Seeing the other elv from earlier talk. “We didn't know this place was owned by someone. I apologise.”

“Who are you anyway?” Myra asked.

“Oh right! We are with the inquisition. They call me the Herald of Andraste.” Pointing at the Qunari. “That's Iron Bull.” The next was the dwarf, but he introduced himself. “Varric Tethras, Storyteller.”
The other elv introduced himself too. “I'm Solas.”

As she heard the name something felt even more familiar. Solas? She knew it had a meaning she just couldn't remember right now.

“What does the Inquisition do?” She asked out of curiosity.

“We want to close the breach and rifts that opened.” Hearing the elv woman reply.

“Rifts? Breach?” Myra didn't know what they meant.

“Let us show you. Bull?”

One moment she was sitting the next in the Qunari’s arms. Rouge hissing at him. “Don't worry I won't let her fall.” The man called Iron Bull replied to Rouge. Walking outside of her home with her.

Myra was gaping as she saw what was outside. “This is bad.” She thought for a moment and made a decision. “I want to join. Sure I'm still weak, but in a few days or weeks it should be better. I can be helpful.” Myra said and added a moment later. “Rouge!”

Her friend came running and as she saw Bull still holding her Master she hissed at him again. She could be very protective.

“We go with them. So prepare yourself.” Myra said to Rouge as Bull sat her on a horse, the Herald must have given him an okay to take her with them.

A few moments later she saw Solas walking over to her and getting on the horse she was on too. It looked like it was his horse. “I hope you don't mind.”

“I don't mind. I grew up with elves.” As she breathed in she smelled something familiar. Was that his smell? And what was what her brain didn't want to get?

Hearing another Hiss that pulled her out of her thoughts. Looking to the side she saw Bull had Rouge with him on his horse. “It's alright little woman.” He also gave her a short scratch under the ears. Making Rouge actually purr shortly, but she woke fast up from it. Hissing at him again. It made him laugh.

A few moments later they started to move with the horses to their destination.
