Work Text:
“Over here, over here”
Yuji Itadori was very excited. He was always a very happy person but that day he seemed awfully excited. It was Christmas after all, which were his favorite holiday.
Gojo could tell for sure that Yuji was happier than usual. He knew his students well and well… Yuji just reminded him of a certain someone when he was young.
As Megumi, Nobara and Gojo entered the class Yuji proudly stood in front of a desk with some bags on it.
“Well, we’re here. What’s the big deal?” Nobara asked impatiently.
“Recently” Yuji started kind of embarrassed.
“I found a hobby I like. And I made you all a little something since you know… It’s Christmas.” He said and gently gave each of them a bag. Gojo excitedly opened it.
“Is that…?” Nobara started.
“Matching Christmas sweaters!” Yuji said excited as he pulled his out of his bag beaming. They were green with a horrible looking Santa on them.
“My grandma used to me make a different one each year and I wanted to recreate that. Aren’t they cool? I worked really hard on them.”
“Yuji-kun these are adorable! I really have the best students!” Gojo said as he came closer and ruffled his hair. Nobara and Megumi looked equally disgusted.
“Bro, that’s like…super corny” Nobara said to Yuji.
“Oh, I know, but come oooooon it’s Christmas! We’re allowed to be corny one time of the year right?” he asked.
While Nobara was bantering Yuji, Megumi was just looking at his sweater a blank expression on his face. Gojo had practically raised him and he knew Megumi very well. Even with that blank expression on his face Gojo knew that he appreciated this present more than Yuji would ever know. Megumi sighed and Gojo smiled as he watched him put it on. Nobara and Yuji suddenly stopped their fighting and just looked at him, their mouths agape.
“What?” he asked with a huge blush on his face, feeling a bit embarrassed. Gojo smiled as he came closer with the sweater on as well.
“Don’t worry Yuji. I can tell Megumin loves it so much already” he said as he playfully pinched his cheek.
“OUCH.“ Megumi said as he touched his cheek and glared at Gojo angrily.
“I don’t really. It’s ugly” he said and Yuji looked devastated.
“But…” he continued as he looked at him with a sincere expression and a small gentle smile.
“…I can tell you put a lot of work into this so thank you Yuji. I’ll cherish this”
Yuji was very moved to the point he actually started crying.
“Megumi-kun!” he said as he bear hugged him and Megumi tried to push him off.
“Come on Nobara, put yours on as well so we’re all matching” Gojo said as he looked at Nobara who was the last one standing. She sighed looking annoyed.
“Fiiiine. Just because you actually took time out of your day to crochet this. Not because I like it or something” she said. Yuji beamed. Now that everyone was wearing the same thing Gojo looked at them like a proud dad.
“Aww, you all look so cute! Hey, why don’t we take some pics?” he asked happily and after some convincing Nobara was setting her phone in the table.
“Okay I’ve put on a timer. On three okay? One…two…three!” she said as her phone took a pic. After a few more they were happy with the result.
“These actually turned…kind of cute?” Nobara asked
“Of course they did!” Yuji said annoyed.
“I’ll maybe even post them as a story. I’ll be sure to tag you as the one who made the sweaters though so no one think I actually bought this” Nobara said teasing Yuji, a smug smile plastered on her face.
“You’re so mean Nobara” Yuji pouted trying to convince her not to.
Their loud conversations were suddenly interrupted when the clock in the class rang signaling that it was midnight. It was…
“Merry Christmas my kids!” Gojo said happily as he pulled them all into a big hug. They all laughed and smiled happily, even Megumi.
“Merry Christmas Gojo sensei!”
After that Nobara ordered KFC and they all chatted and ate till they physically couldn’t handle it anymore. At around 2 AM someone threw fireworks and they all went to the window to see.
“So pretty” Yuji said as Nobara took pictures to upload. Gojo looked at them a bit melancholically.
“Yeah… They sure are…”
A little while later, after chatting a bit more and playing some card games it had gotten pretty late. Yuji was already half asleep so they all decided to call it a day and went to sleep in their rooms.
“Good night!” Gojo said happily as he closed the door.
Once the door was closed behind him Gojo put his head on it. All the festive atmosphere the fireworks… He felt a wave of nostalgia hit him.
“Ugh… Shit” he scoffed.
“I need a drink”
He poured himself a bit of whisky with one ice.
Gojo had a fireplace inside his room that he rarely used but today just felt fitting. After lighting it, the fire starting emanating a nice warmth into the room. Feeling a bit warmer he turned to his pickup and after a bit of searching through his vinyls he got a specific one out, his hands trembling. He hesitantly put it on and as soon as the first notes were heard he felt his heart tightening. Fighting back tears he got a small photo frame that he kept over his fireplace and sat at his couch feeling defeated. He drank a small chug of whiskey as he put his hand over his eyes. He couldn’t fight it anymore and he let the tears he was holding back streak his beautiful face. He hadn’t cried in years keeping everything bottled up. But it was inevitable this time.
Christmas reminded him of him.
His best friend.
And the only person in the world that Gojo was ever in love with.
Geto.
He closed his eyes, his head leaning in the couch as old memories starting resurfacing…
***
“Come on, hurry up!” Gojo shouted and Geto run behind him as he stumbled his way on the snow shivering.
“It’s freezing outside. What do they want now?” he asked kind of annoyed. Gojo turned to look at him, his blue eyes meeting his black ones.
Geto always thought that blue eyes were cold and reminded him of snow.
But not Gojo’s.
They were the most beautiful shade of blue and every time he looked at him… his blue eyes had a warmth that Geto loved. They reminded him of the sea.
“You know” Gojo said playfully.
“You look very funny right now”
Geto glared at him.
“Funny how?”
“Your nose is all red.” he said as he laughed and Geto looked at him mad.
“It’s not my fault I’m cold!”
“Nah. It’s kind of cute” he said as he smiled.
Geto blushed and the two boys just looked at each other for a few seconds not saying anything.
“W-well we better get going or we’ll never make it right?” Gojo asked his face all red as he turned the other way so that Geto wouldn’t see him.
Suddenly he felt a vibration in his pocket and he pulled out his phone to see who had messaged him.
“AH!” he exclaimed and Geto curious picked over his shoulder to see what the huge deal was.
“What?” he asked.
“The vinyl shop I go to brought the vinyl from “Happy end”… I really want it but the shop is far away…” he said sadly.
“Well, it’s your favorite band, no?” Geto said looking at him.
“Well yeah and their new song “Gather the wind” is one of their best…”
After pouting for a few minutes he sighed.
“Well… I guess I’ll go after Christmas” he said.
After a few more minutes they finally reached the courtyard where everyone was waiting for them.
“Ah there you are” their teacher said
“Yeah sorry we were late”
“Well, whatever let’s start” he said and he clapped his hands to get everyone’s attention.
“Listen up everyone. I know that it’s the holidays and you are all on leave but we thought to throw a little game to keep you in shape” he said and looked around pausing for dramatic effect. Everyone suddenly looked excited.
“A snow fight” he announced and every sorcerer around suddenly looked all fired up.
“You’re going to play as a team, with each team having 2 people. Of course you can use every power you want as long as it doesn’t destroy the campus” he said, looking directly at Gojo at the last remark who just smiled kind of apologetically.
“After only 2 people last then they will play against each other even if they’re on the same team. Lastly when a snow ball hits you you’re out. Did everyone understand the rules?”
Everyone nodded enthusiastically and started teaming up. Gojo of course teamed up with Geto and Utahime teamed up with Shoko.
“Hey, if Gojo has his six eyes activated and his infinity then we can’t hit him! That’s cheating” Utahime said and suddenly a snowball came and hit her in the face. Angrily she looked at Gojo who was looking at her all smugly.
“You know…” he started as he made a new snowball.
“…you should be more aware of your surroundings. Even without my six eyes I would have dodged that” he playfully said.
“You… That doesn’t count we haven’t even started!” Utahime said angrily.
“She’s right his technique should be considered cheating!” other smaller sorcerers joined in on the protests of Utahime.
“Yeah! How are we supposed to hit him if we can’t touch him?”
“Make him not use his techinique!”
The younger sorcerers started complaining to the teacher who suddenly having to handle a lot of teenagers at once didn’t know what to do. Utahime looked at them and then back at Gojo with a victorious grin.
Gojo just wanted this to be over so he rolled his eyes.
“You don’t need to pester the teach, god. Here. I won’t be using either of the techniques mentioned. So you can all try to hit me. Well…that is if you can” he said cockily and Utahime already having a snowball in her hand smiled back at him.
“Oh don’t be so sure!” she shouted as the snowball came towards him at an alarming pace. Gojo didn’t even flinch as suddenly a frog spirit emerged from the ground and caught it in its mouth.
“Knew you’d have my back” Gojo said smiling at Geto who nudged him.
“Always”
The fight started and all the younger sorcerers were out pretty early on. Soon the only ones left were Nanami, who gave up since he didn’t want to deal with this anymore after his teammate left, Utahime, Gojo and Geto. The two boys were a team anyway and went after Utahime who now understanding she was in a difficult spot had switched from the offensive to the defensive. She was running around trying to think of a way to escape these two while also dodging the incoming fire.
“Aww, what is it Utahime? Can’t beat me and now you’re just running around?” Gojo said mockingly and Utahime offended turned around to look at him and stopped running.
“HUH? Who says I can’t beat you, you arrogant asshole?” she asked angrily as she made a snowball with her hands and threw it at him. Gojo just moved his head and the snowball missed him.
“Where’s all the confidence you had before? “Gojo shouldn’t be using his techniques it should be considered cheating” well here I am. I’m not using any of them. Hit me”
“Shut up” Utahime shouted. She was starting to seethe with anger as another snowball missed him.
“See? You can’t beat me Utahime”
“You… I’m gonna show you…” She said as she launched another one at him. At this point there was no technique or plan. Blinded by rage Utahime was just angrily throwing snowballs at Gojo fast who was easily avoiding them.
After a while Utahime was panting while Gojo looked perfectly fine.
After looking at her for a few seconds he sighed.
“Well, you know…” he said as he took a step forward and Utahime some steps back.
“I’m not really the one saying that you can’t beat me” Gojo said.
“What? But just a while ago you told me-“
“He is”
In the blink of an eye Utahime felt a snowball hit her on the back. She turned around seeing Geto standing with a victory sign on his hand.
“You…” she angrily said as she turned around and glared at Gojo.
“I made you angry enough so that only focused on me and forgot Geto existed. I also tired you out on purpose so that you wouldn’t be able to avoid it”
Utahime was speechless.
“So all this was…?”
“Planned? Yeah” Geto said as he came closer.
“As I said previously you should be more aware of your surroundings” Gojo said as he and Geto high fived.
Utahime furiously stomped away angrily to go to Shoko and the two boys smiled at each other.
“Nice work Suguru~ We can now… Wait-“
Their earnest smile faded from their face as suddenly they both came to the realization they had to fight each other. Both of them took a huge step back, their footprints leaving traces in the snow.
“Huh. Never thought I’d have to fight you” Gojo said as he shot a mischievous smile at Geto who looked at him serious. Between the two of them he already knew who was going to win. Geto was strong but Gojo… He was on another level. He looked around and saw that the other sorcerers came closer to watch the two of them fight. He felt an unprecedented pressure.
“Well this should be interesting” a smaller sorcerer said and crossed his hands on his chest. Soon Shoko was taking money as everyone started betting on who would win. Geto’s focus shifted from them back into Gojo and he sighed.
“Who cares…” he thought and smiled. Gojo was his best friend. He didn’t care wether he lost or not. Even though defeat was the likeliest.
“Well are you ready to lose Suguru?” Gojo asked playfully and Geto watched as hundreds of snowballs formed and moved up to the air behind Gojo who looked excited.
“Oh, come on Satoru. Don’t get so cocky” he said smugly and Gojo just moved his hand, all the snowballs coming towards Geto causing a huge cloud of snowflakes and smoke. Gojo clapped his hands sure that he had actually gotten him but suddenly the smoke dissipated and Geto was seen riding his dragon curse up to the sky without having hit even once. Instead his dragon was covered in ice.
“What?” Gojo said kind of taken aback.
“I told you” Geto said as his dragon started descending at an alarming speed towards Gojo.
“Don’t get so cocky!”
“Well you sure are not gonna get me with this.” He said as he moved to the side to avoid the dragon coming towards him. His blue eyes widened though as at the last second Geto jumped off the dragon’s back, his hands open wide. He hugged Gojo and due to the force they both landed on the ice cold ground. Gojo was panicking as this was the last thing he expected. Being embraced by Geto his mind went literally blank not moving as if he did he would never experience this again.
Geto lifted himself up a bit. His face was so close to Gojo’s and the blue eyed sorcerer blushed. Geto looked at him happily and suddenly smashed a snowball on his face. Gojo as if out of a trance suddenly remembered they played snowball and threw him off him wiping the snow from his face.
“I win” Geto said and he looked at their “audience” who were angrily giving Shoko their money. She made a victory sign and Geto realized she was the only one who had bet her money on him.
Gojo looked at him for a moment and then started laughing.
“Well that was a good fight”
“I actually managed to beat the strongest sorcerer” Geto said proudly.
“Well, who’s the cocky one now? You surprised me this is the only reason you beat me” Gojo raised an arm so that Geto could help him get up from the ground
“Well whatever” Geto said as he extended his arm to help him.
“A win’s a win. And especially against you I’ll take it”
After the teacher announced Geto’s win slowly the sorcerers started to go inside. Gojo looked at his friend’s deep black eyes and smiled playfully.
“Suguruuuu”
“What?”
“I really, really, really want something right now. I think it’s only fair you get it for me to console me for my failure in the match…Or else…”
“Or else?” Geto said and smiled.
Gojo crossed his hands on his chest.
“I’m gonna be sad” he pouted.
“Oh no!” Geto said dramatically.
“I can’t have the almighty Gojo Satoru feel sad. So what do you want?” he asked.
“Ice cream” Gojo simply said with a happy expression in his face. Geto looked at him.
“Ice cream?”
“Yeah”
“It’s freezing. You’re gonna be sick”
“Oh, don’t worry.” Gojo said as he put his hand around his shoulders.
“We have Shoko. I’m gonna be fine”
Geto sighed.
“You’re such a child.”
“Does that mean you’re not gonna buy me one?” Gojo said making puppy eyes.
“No, fine. I’ll get you one” Geto said kind of defeated.
“You’re the best Geto” Gojo said as he hugged him. Geto felt butterflies that he desperately was trying to ignore.
“Yo, Shoko” Gojo shouted.
“We’re getting ice cream. Wanna come with?”
“Eh? No, I’ll pass I don’t wanna be sick” she said as she waved at them.
“Your loss” Gojo said and grabbed Geto to leave.
They stayed silent for a while as they were leaving Jujutsu high. Gojo’s blue eyes were stealing glances at Geto. He would never need to know how he felt about him. It would make things between them uncomfortable especially since Gojo knew his feelings would not be reciprocated. He was 99% sure that Geto was not gay. Not even bi. As for that 1%... Well he didn’t want to ruin their relationship based on that 1%. Just being next to him was fine.
“By the way, Satoru” Geto said interrupting his thoughts.
“Hm?”
“We’re not getting ice cream. You are.”
“Eh? No, come on you’re getting one too”
“No way”
“Pleaseee?”
“No”
“Pretty pleaseeee”
“No” Geto said sternly.
“You’re no fun” Gojo sighed as they started walking towards the subway.
***
Geto got one too.
“How did I get roped into this?” he asked.
“No one can say no to ice cream” Gojo smiled proud at himself that Geto decided to take one too.
“Well, at least it’s good” he said.
“Can I try some of yours Suguru?” Gojo asked.
“Hm? Sure” Geto said and extended his spoon to Gojo’s face. Gojo looked at it and licked some of it. His eyes widened.
“What the hell? Why is yours tastier than mine? No fair”
Geto laughed and stole some of Gojo’s. After taking a bite he looked at him.
“Wanna trade? I did actually like yours better” Geto said laughing. Gojo smiled and nodded enthusiastically.
“So…are you happy now that we got the ice cream?” Geto asked smiling.
“Very much so” Gojo said. He looked around the bustling streets of Shibuya. It was Christmas and the city looked even prettier now. The decorations of all the shops with the little lights flickering all around them like stars, the people around them getting presents for their loved ones, the smell of random street food vendors, it was all so full of life. Gojo loved it there.
“Man, I really love Christmas” he said his gaze looking around them relaxed.
Geto smiled. It had been a while since he last saw him this calm. He usually always had his guard up, his powers activated nonstop. But now he just looked around taking in the view.
“Well…” Geto said as he side-eyed Gojo.
“Since we’re here why don’t we go look around a bit?” he asked. Gojo’s whole face lit up and he enthusiastically nodded.
They stopped to look at a choir singing Christmas songs. Gojo stole a glance at Geto who was eating the last bit of his ice cream, while looking at a flier that someone handed him and his face blushed. He hated to admit it but he was having improper thoughts
“Ah, I wish that ice cream, was my di-“
Suddenly Geto turned to look at him and smiled. Gojo was caught off guard for the second time that day and he almost flinched. The black haired man grabbed Gojo’s hand and pulled him away.
“Come on I saw there’s a Christmas festival close by”
Gojo was distracted by Geto holding his hand but hearing the words “Christmas festival” he felt extra happy.
When they reached the festival Gojo looked around. There were a lot of little wooden houses around the square, Christmas music emanating from the big speakers and in the middle there was a big ice ring. It looked so picturesque and pretty.
“Suguru this is amazing”
Geto didn’t say anything. He was cold sure and the ice cream didn’t help but seeing Gojo so happy was reward enough for him.
“Come on.” He said as he gently held his hand so they could go around and look at the stands. There were a lot of ones that were about food and games where you could win plushies. Gojo was looking around awestruck and after some thought Gojo decided to pull Geto to a crane game. Geto looked at him with a blank stare.
“Out of everything around you want a crane game?” he asked.
“Well…” Gojo said as he looked for change in his wallet.
“Most of these, if not all are probably rigged so we would lose our money as it usually happens with these festival games. While this would be better. Also…” he said as he paused for dramatic effect.
“These are Christmas plushies! Look at them Suguruuuu! Aren’t they cute?” he asked excited. Geto looked at them. There were cute Santa plushies inside. He laughed.
“Yeah, they really are”
“One of these might be cute to have…” he thought to himself as he suddenly felt the crave to get one. He didn’t like holiday themed plushies or plushies in general but he suddenly felt the need to have one of those.
After a few minutes Gojo had gotten 3. Geto was having a hard time holding them as they were kind of big.
“Luckyyy” Gojo said happily as he pulled the fourth one out.
“What are you gonna do with all these?” he asked.
Gojo looked around and got some paper bags from a stall. After he put the plushies inside he playfully looked at Geto.
“Can’t tell you. It’s a secret~” he said and Geto scoffed.
“Fine don’t tell me” he laughed.
After that Geto looked at Gojo.
“Want to go ice skating?” he asked and Gojo enthusiastically nodded. After putting their ice skates on, Gojo looked at the ice ring. There were fewer people now but none of them was good enough to ice skate on the center and everyone was holding on for dear life from the rails. He smiled as he confidently entered. He was actually very good at ice skating as he did it a lot growing up. He went to the center and turned around to look at Geto who also entered confidently.
“I see you’re good at it” Gojo said and Geto smiled a bit awkwardly.
“Kind of. I used to do roller skates as a child so this is kind of the same.” He said and Gojo laughed as he imagined a child Geto looking cool as heck with his roller skates.
Suddenly the music changed into a romantic Christmas song and the two boys looked at each other. Gojo felt his breath getting caught on his throat but he decided to do it anyway.
He bowed and extended his hand to Geto’s.
“Would you mind dancing with me?”
Geto was now the one caught off guard and he blushed hard. Seeing Gojo’s hand tremble he realized how many guts this took to ask. He gently smiled and held his hand.
“Of course” he said and came closer to Gojo.
“Why don’t you lead the way? You’re better than me no?” he asked and Gojo still not being able to believe that Geto said yes blushed and nodded. He gently put his hand on his waist, pulling him even closer and they started swaying on the music. Gojo was expertly guiding Geto, twirling him, pulling him closer and pulling out more complicated moves. The people around had stopped to see them dance and once the song ended Gojo was mere inches away from Geto’s face. He wanted to kiss him so bad. The moment was perfect as well when suddenly it got ruined by the whole crowd cheering for them. The two boys pulled away embarrassed and Gojo even bowed.
“God that was close…” he thought.
After that they decided it was time to go home. Before leaving Gojo couldn’t resist and he bought both of them a caramel glazed apple.
As they were walking away chatting Gojo looked at something and decided to prank Geto. He stopped and went under a street lamp.
“Hey Getooo~” he playfully said. Geto looked at him confused.
“What?”
“Look at where I’m standing”
“Under a street lamp? Oh-“ a huge mistletoe garland was hanging from the lamp. A huge blush appeared on Geto’s face. Gojo smiled naughtily.
“You know what they say when you see a mistletoe right? They say that you have to kiss the person under it.”
Geto gulped
“Oh, if only a black haired sorcerer whose name starts with Sugu- and ends with –ru would kiss me so as to not break the tradition” Gojo said dramatically. In reality he was just teasing him. He knew Geto wasn’t brave enough or liked him that way to actually kiss him. So he was just messing around. As he was about to leave and tease Suguru about it afterwards his eyes widened when he saw as Geto took a deep breath and started marching up to him.
Geto looked at him and Gojo felt his whole face blushing as he suddenly remembered that 1%... Lost in his thoughts Geto grabbed him by the waist and Gojo’s head was filled with nothing but gay panic.
“Wait what-“ he said confused.
“What? You’re the one who didn’t want to break the tradition” Geto replied as he suddenly was enjoying watching Gojo panicking.
“Or was it that you…thought I wasn’t gonna do it?” he whispered in his ear.
Gojo gulped and felt that if this dragged on any longer his heart would explode. Geto leaned in to kiss him and for a moment Gojo thought to activate his six eyes but… Geto wasn’t an enemy, he was his best friend and also… it felt like such a waste. He definitely did not expect him to just go for it.
He just closed his eyes as Geto kissed him softly on his lips. He tasted like mint from his ice cream.
Gojo felt a wave of panic overcome him like an electroshock. But he realized that, it was just overjoy as he threw his arms around Geto’s head reciprocating the kiss. Geto suddenly tightened his grip and both of them suddenly deepened their kiss both using tongue. After a moment that felt like eternity to Gojo, Geto pulled away, a visible blush on his face.
“There you happy? Now, come on” he said as he started walking again.
Gojo’s mind was blank. He touched his lips and a smile appeared on his face.
“Suguru just…”
“Are you coming?” Geto asked and Gojo snapped back to reality.
“Ah, yes” he said as he run towards him.
They walked in silence after that. Gojo felt if he didn’t ask him then he would explode.
“…You looked like you enjoyed that…” he shyly said. He wanted to die. He was never this shy but that was a different situation.
Geto didn’t reply and just looked the other way. Gojo looked at him and saw that even his ears were red.
“Shut up you stupid asshole…” he muttered and Gojo was now even more confused.
“Wait… DID HE ACTUALLY-?”
“By the way” Geto cut his thoughts.
“Yes?”
“If you tell anyone I kissed you you’re dead” Geto said.
“Nah, you could not kill me even if you tried” Gojo scoffed.
Geto side eyed him.
“I’m not gonna tell anyone though so don’t worry” he said.
As they kept walking, Gojo gently put his hand in Geto’s.
“This is fine though, right?” he asked as he just looked forward.
Geto didn’t say anything for a few seconds then locked his hands in Gojo’s.
“…Yes. This feels nice”
***
When they reached the subway Gojo stopped and looked up.
“Ah, Suguru look! It’s snowing again” he happily exclaimed.
“Ah, it really does” Geto said and looked at Gojo.
“Hey” he said.
“Before we leave want to take a photo?”
Gojo smiled sweetly.
“Sure. With what though?”
“I bought a new camera, look.” He said as he pulled a film camera out of his bag.
“Ohhh wow! That looks so expensive” Gojo said.
“Well I thought I should start capturing some of our moments to remember them as we grow older. After all, memory is fragile” he said as he smiled.
Gojo blushed as a gentle smile appeared in his face.
Geto went up to random people to get them to take their photo. The way he was so enthusiastic about that simple thing like a child was what Gojo found adorable as he smiled looking at him. Finally two people with suits agreed to take their pics and Geto run towards Gojo. The two man took some pics of them as the snow was falling around them.
Geto thanked the two man profusely and then run towards him again. As they were waiting the train he turned to Gojo.
“Hey Satoru”
“Yes Suguru?”
“I actually had a lot of fun today”
“…Me too” Gojo said smiling brightly unable to forget their kiss.
“But I actually remembered I have some more things I have to do. I will come back later okay?” he said apologetically. Gojo felt disappointed. He wanted to go back together.
“I can come with, if you want?”
“No, no. You go on ahead. I’ll see you tomorrow okay?” Geto said as the train stopped in front of them. Gojo sighed.
“Fine. See you later then” he said as he turned around to leave. As he took a few steps forward though he suddenly turned around and looked at Geto who waited for him to get on the train and looked confused.
“What is it? Did you forget something-“
Gojo threw his arms around him and hugged him tightly.
“Yeah. I wanted a hug” he said and as he pulled away he saw that both of them were blushing.
“Bye now” he said and Geto feeling his voice caught in his throat muttered a bye that no one heard.
On the way home Gojo kept thinking about their kiss while looking out the window to the beautiful city at night. He had a permanent stupid grin on his face. This truly was the happiest day of his life.
***
The next day Gojo woke up feeling sick. He looked at the time and realized it was already noon.
“Maybe Shoko was right… I hope Suguru feels better than me” he thought as he climbed out of bed and opened his door to go find her. Behind his door though stood Geto, who was just about to knock.
“Suguru?” he asked and smiled weakly.
“What a pleasant surprise this early in the morning. What are you doing here?” he asked.
“W-well… I wanted to see if you feel the same shitty as I do”
“Guilty. You feel the same?” he asked
“…Yeah, I’m afraid we’re gonna be sick together” Geto said and laughed weakly.
“Sick during Christmas? That feels like a crime” Gojo said as he opened his door more so Geto could come inside.
Geto entered the room and the two men just looked at each other for a moment and none of them spoke.
“…Is that the only reason?” Gojo asked and tried to pick over his shoulder where he was hiding something.
“No, not only for that” he said as he revealed a paper bag he was hiding behind his back.
“Merry Christmas Satoru” he said smiling.
Gojo took the present, his hands almost trembling.
“A gift from Suguru? OH MY GOD” he thought.
“For me?” he simply asked smiling.
“Yeah. It’s kinda silly and small but it’s my gift…”
Gojo wanted to open it there and then but he saw Suguru was wobbling and his smile faded.
“Woah there” he said as he sat him down at his bed and Geto put his hand on his face.
“Ugh. I’m sorry I’m ruining it don’t I?”
“What? No of course not! I’ll call Shoko and she’ll come check on us” he said as he stroked Geto’s back. He felt pretty shitty himself so Shoko was needed.
After Shoko examined them, she playfully hit them in the head.
“Yeah you have a cold. You idiots. Who eats ice-cream in minus degree weather?” they both looked at her sadly. Shoko sighed.
“Take these, twice a day and I’ll go make you some soup” she said and left.
After that they ate the soup and ended up watching some Christmas movies on Gojo’s computer. Before they knew it, it had already gotten dark.
After measuring their temperatures and seeing that they both didn’t have any fever they sighed with relief. They still felt pretty bad and tired but no fever was good news.
“Hey Suguru” Gojo said kind of happily.
“What?”
“Want to exchange gifts?”
Geto’s eyes widened.
“Wait you got me something too?” he asked as excitedly as he could.
“Of course! What did you think that I wouldn’t take my best friend something too?” he asked and got a huge paper bag from behind the tree.
Geto looked at it. It looked kind of familiar.
“Wait is that-“
“Yeah it is!” Gojo said a huge smile on his face.
Geto looked inside and saw the cute Santa plushie from yesterday. He wanted to laugh.
“How did you know I wanted one?” he asked as he pulled it out and hugged it.
“I saw the way you looked at it and I wasn’t going to leave until I had one for you. The other was for me and then I thought to get one for Nanami and Shoko.”
Geto hugged him.
“Thank you… I love it”
In fact it wasn’t the plushie he loved so much but the fact that Gojo had even picked on that tiny detail and got him what he wanted.
Gojo hugged him back and then excitedly got his own present. He opened it quickly and his blue eyes widened when he saw it.
“That’s…”
“The vinyl you wanted yeah. You were right actually the vinyl shop was far away” Geto said.
Gojo was about to thank him when suddenly he saw there was something else in the bag. He put the vinyl on the table next to him and pulled the other item out his eyes widening.
It was a little wooden frame with their picture from yesterday.
He looked up to see Geto smile.
“Turn it the other way” he said and Gojo turned the frame around to see that Geto had written something on the back.
“Winters with you are my favourite” he read on his mind and suddenly he got teary eyed. He almost jumped to Geto and hugged him tightly.
“Thank you… I love it too” he whispered and Geto stroked his back.
“You’re welcome”
“Now I feel like my present is dumb compared to yours…” Gojo said pouting.
“I didn’t want anything to be honest… The whole day yesterday was so nice that I feel it’s a present on its own” Geto said and Gojo felt his heart warming up.
“Now come on! Put your vinyl to play!” Geto said as he urged Gojo, who got up excitedly and put his new vinyl to the pickup. As soon as the needle touched it the beautiful melody filled the room and suddenly fireworks were heard. Gojo looked out his window to see that they were visible from there. He smiled. His bed was next to his window so he lied down pulled his blankets all over him and gestured for Geto to sit next to him. Geto smiled as he got under the blanket too and lied down on Gojo’s chest. Both of them stayed silent listening to Gojo’s music and looking at the beautiful fireworks.
It was still early but the medicine had made them kind of drowsy.
“Merry Christmas Suguru”
“Merry Christmas Satoru”
A few moments later Gojo felt Geto’s ruthmic breath on his chest and smiled as he realized he had fallen asleep. He stroked his hair and gently placed a kiss on his head as he got comfortable and slept too. Even though he was sick this was the best Christmas of his life

Gojo opened his eyes.
Those were nothing but memories anymore.
Geto was gone.
At the thought only he left out a small gasp and clasped the picture in his chest.
“Winters with you were my favourite too Geto…” he whispered as tears fell on the glass on the frame. The song ended and Gojo devoid from emotions downed his glass of whiskey, put out the vinyl and fell on his bed while holding the picture in his arms. It was the closest he would ever get to Geto now that he was gone…
He cried himself to sleep that night.

The next morning Gojo woke up by a knock on his door. He rubbed his eyes and left the picture to his bedside table before getting up.
He rubbed his temples as the knocking became more impatient.
“Yeah, yeah I’m coming” he shouted as he opened the door. Behind it stood Yuji. Looking at him he suddenly felt déjà vu.
“Hey Gojo-sensei! Sorry did I wake you up?” he asked kind of apologetically.
“No, no it’s all good” he said.
“So, what’s up?”
Yuji smiled and gave him a small parcel.
“A little extra something as a Christmas present since the sweaters were kind of a fail… I thought it was cute.”
Gojo smiled and ruffled his hair.
“Aww, you didn’t need to Yuji” he said and Yuji laughed.
“I made one for each of us”
Gojo opened it and wanted to laugh. Yuji really reminded him of Geto.
Inside the parcel was the photo of the 4 of them wearing their matching sweaters.
“Thank you so much Yuji” Gojo sincerely said and gave him a hug.
“I love it. I’ll treasure it, I promise” he said.
Yuji felt very happy and after saying goodbye to Gojo he left to go give the others their present.
Gojo closed the door of his room and put the two frames over his fire place. He caressed the image of Geto and looked at him nostalgically.
“I wish I could see you again…” he said sadly and took a deep breath as he decided he wasn’t going to cry again. He got dressed and went to find the kids to mess with them.
Little did Gojo know that a few months later his wish would come true.
He would actually get to see Geto again.
But this time he wouldn’t be who he remembered.
And their awaited reunion would happen in none other than Shibuya.
