Puyo Puyo Meteos (ぷよぷよメテオス / Puyopuyo meteosu) is a puzzle action video game developed by Sonic Team, Sora Ltd., and Project Emerald, Inc., and published by Sega in association with Q Entertainment and Mobcast.
Premise of Story Mode:
The evil planet Meteo has returned to destroy all life in the universe. The attack on Metamo Ark causes a team of freedom fighters to crash land near Primp Magic School, encountering Amitie, who went to investigate the crash site. As soon as she reached the downed Metamo Ark, a group of Meteos begin to attack Primp Magic School. The Meteo resistors were surprised to see Amitie fight them off in a new way... Puyo Battling, was it? After driving the Meteos off, she then introduces herself to the resistors, who do the same in return. They then set off on a journey to save all of existence and defeat the planet Meteo.
New Characters:
- Nova Flux (voiced by Maya Enoyoshi / Fryda Wolff): An aspiring inventor and the leader of the resistance, she is determined to make sure Meteo can harm no one. She is also the first member to befriend Amitie and learn how to Puyo Puyo battle.
- Astrid Gearstone (voiced by Ruriko Aoki / Sarah-Nicole Robles): Nova's second-in-command. Kind of a nervous wreck, not helped that the Meteos' attack really took its toll on her mental health. Do not disturb Astrid when she's doing her calculations. She may be on the timid side, but she's prone to snapping at people that bother her when she's working.
- Ralph Quantum (voiced by Ryota Suzuki / Cam Clarke or Benjamin Lepley): The pilot of the Metamo Ark. He is a very serious and stoic person, but it doesn't make him immune to goofy antics.
- Selene Ferris (voiced by Ayaka Fukuhara / Rachelle Heger): The co-pilot of the Metamo Ark. As rough-and-tumble she can get, she does have a more feminine side.
- Misty "Viper" Hayes (voiced by Yui Matsuyama / Mae Whitman): The gunsgirl of the Metamo Ark. She tends to be neglectful of other things (sleep included), and has baggier-looking eyes. She has a few screws loose in her brain when it comes to shooting her foes. Ralph describes her to be "without the restraints of common sense."
Returning Characters:
- Arle Nadja (voiced by Mie Sonozaki / Erica Mendez): A young mage apprentice. She is known for being very optimistic, somewhat of a tomboy, and for being one of the more level headed characters in the entire cast. Despite her young looks, she is very prolific in magic, even all the way back in kindergarten. Her optimistic personality means she seemingly doesn't hold grudges towards her enemies, even towards the Dark Prince who tries desperately to marry her. Her kindness, however, hides her general competitiveness when playing Puyo, sometimes causing her to become surprisingly mean-spirited.
- Ringo Andou (voiced by Asami Imai / Cassandra Lee Morris): A resident of Suzuran, Ringo is a teenage girl who attends Suzuran Junior High School and works part-time at her family-owned grocery store in the Suzuran Shopping District with her parents. She lived her life as your typical teenage girl... until the events of Puyo Puyo 7 forced her to learn how to play Puyo and save the world from impending doom. Ever since those fateful events, she's experienced the weirdness of the franchise on an almost daily basis. She is a generally intelligent girl who is always curious about solving mysteries, but this also results in her being the only person that remotely questions the insanity around her.
- Amitie (voiced by Shiho Kikuchi / Christine Marie Cabanos): A student of Primp Magic School, Amitie is nice, dreams of becoming a great magician, but is a bit ditzy. Her heart is in the right place, and though she's better at reacting to things than Raffina or Sig, she still ends up jumping to wrong conclusions. Amitie has some underlying confidence issues, to the point where she needs several pep talks from her friends to keep going and not talk herself down as useless.
- Serilly (voiced by Haruka Yoshimura / Christine Marie Cabanos): A very shy mermaid who is somewhat of a crybaby. She believes that everyone is out to bully her or eat her based on an ambiguous myth about mermaid flesh granting immortality. This causes her to be constantly paranoid about any stranger she meets. However, she also has a strong desire to make new friends due to being constantly alone.
- Carbuncle (voiced by Tomoko Kaneda / Erin Fitzgerald and Julie Ann Taylor): The yellow rabbit Mascot of Compile-era Puyo Puyo games and Compile in general. He is a mysterious creature that used to be Dark Prince's pet, until Arle found him in Madou Monogatari 1-2-3 and decided to join her. However, the Dark Prince became saddened that Carbuncle left him, with getting Carbuncle back becoming one of his motivations to marry Arle. He is known for having a strong bond with Arle, but will still run off on his own to cause mischief, especially if it involves looking for his favorite food, curry.
- Feli (voiced by Yukie Maeda / Erin Fitzgerald): Lemres' underclass woman, Feli hails from the same town and school as her senior. She's skilled in the occult art of divination, with a gothic lolita dress and a dark and mysterious personality to match her abilities. Despite all of that, she's got a strong attachment to Lemres, which inevitably leads to her antagonizing Klug for idolizing him.
- The Ocean Prince (voiced by Naomi Wakabayashi / Erin Fitzgerald): A pink minnow that resides in the ocean just off of Primp's beaches. In reality, he's actually a human boy named Prince Salde Shellbrick III using a magical artifact that allows him to take the form of a fish, in order to escape his royal duties at his castle. He's quite crass and a stereotypical royal-stuckup.
- Klug (voiced by Mie Sonozaki / Mick Wingert): Local genius of Primp Town, Klug serves as a sort of Mr. Exposition, with knowledge of several events (but never willing to reveal them). He's got the honor student book smarts to contrast Amitie, but despite being able to plan several steps ahead, he's not always prepared when things don't quite go his way.
- Suketoudara (voiced by Hisayoshi Suganuma / Mick Wingert): An armed-and-legged pollock that loves to dance and talks in slang. He normally appears throughout the series as a comic relief of sorts, either because of himself being abused in some fashion or simply showing off his awesome dancing abilities. He is normally a carefree individual that simply wants to show off his dancing skills and likewise wants to see others dance too, but does show a more selfish side on occasion.
- Schezo Wegey (voiced by Masakazu Morita / Benjamin Lepley and/or Antony Del Rio): A mysterious dark mage who wields a powerful sword simply called the Dark Sword. His ultimate goal is to become the most powerful sorcerer, resorting to all measures to achieve his goals, in the process being yet another threat towards Arle. Normally, he tries to pull off a dignified facade in order to be more intimidating to others, and exemplify his status as a powerful mage. However, he has gained infamy as a pervert/creeper for his crass choice of words, unintentionally being laced with sexual innuendo that either baffles or scares others around him. His facade is also broken if he sees anything cute (examples being Dongurigaeru and Onion Pixie).
- Rulue (voiced by Kanako Kondo / Kira Buckland): The self-proclaimed "Fighting Queen", Rulue is a beautiful young woman that, true to her title, is an expert at hand-to-hand combat. Her powerful punches and kicks compensate for having weak to non-existent magic, contrasting the majority of the cast. A notable trait is her obsession with marrying the Dark Prince. Madou Monogatari ARS reveals that her obsession stems from Dark Prince rescuing her in the past, and since then, she has been determined to become stronger so she could one day marry him. Despite this, her approaches have constantly been shot down, causing her to become increasingly frustrated. Dark Prince's strong obsession with Arle in particular is a sour spot for her, creating one of Arle's most persistent rivals in the process.
- Ally (voiced by Honoka Inoue / Kira Buckland): A self-proclaimed adventurer that is looking for a prophesied hero, who helps Arle and the others return to their home worlds during the events of Puyo Puyo Chronicle. She believes that everything can be solved using the power of love. It is heavily implied in the games and novels (and outright confirmed in Puyo Puyo!! Quest) that she is the "Great Hero" that is destined to save her storybook world by filling it with love, but due to various circumstances, such as Satan messing with the text of her story in Chronicle, or her own overblown respect for others, she always ends up assigning the title to people other than herself (such as to Arle in Chronicle and Amitie in Amitie and the Girl of Love.)
- Rafisol (voiced by Mao Ichimichi / Kira Buckland): Ally's "evil" clone, born from Ally’s pendant, devoid of empathy and created to consume. Initially, during the climax of Puyo Puyo Chronicle, she appears to be very cold-hearted with no qualms against causing destruction, but after her defeat and in the post-game campaign, she starts to warm up to others, even expressing that she wants a happy life loved by others despite being a manifestation of darkness. Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop shows that she still doesn’t understand how to express her feelings, however.
- Lidelle (voiced by Noriko Namiki / Lauren Landa): A shy demi-human student at Primp Magic School, who struggles with her sense of identity. She looks up to the Dark Prince and Draco as older siblings
- Ms. Accord (voiced by Miwa Kouzuki / Wendee Lee): The teacher at Primp Magic School, a guiding force for the students.
- Draco Centauros (voiced by Kaori Nazuka / Wendee Lee): A demi-dragon girl who is obsessed with beauty contests, despite her rather boyish looks. She is constantly challenging Arle to beauty contests, whether provoked or otherwise, creating a one-sided rivalry. Despite this she's somewhat of a ditz, constantly mixing up Puyo battles with beauty contests and being infamous in gameplay for her AI having very weak Puyo skills. But this is all offset by her being deceptively effective at martial arts, in particular being prolific in devastating punches.
- Sig (voiced by Yuriko Fuchizaki / Benjamin Diskin): An absent-minded half-demon boy who loves bugs and is one of Amitie's closest friends. Despite how indifferent he can seem at first, Sig is actually very dedicated to his friends. This comes up most often with Amitie, to the point where Sig is quick to go along with anything that she might be up to, while showing far less motivation for things that mainly concern himself. His interactions with Arle in Puyo Puyo 15th Anniversary also show a very empathetic side of him.
- Lemres (voiced by Takumi Yamazaki / Benjamin Diskin): A senior magic student of the neighboring, unnamed town, Lemres was the boss of the WakuWaku course in Fever 2. Being titled "Comet Warlock" before he even finished magic school, he's actually very strong and intelligent, with a reputation of being a prodigy warlock and fueling Klug's aspiration. He's an amiable person to be around, though his affinity and generosity with sweets does make him a bit of a weirdo to some people.
- Witch (voiced by Kaoru Sakura / Lauren Landa): Witch is... well, a witch. Specifically, she is a young witch-in-training, constantly hunting for new spells to learn and potions to make. Her ultimate goal is to graduate into a full-fledged comet witch. However, she is rather mischievous when it comes to achieving her goals, going as far as to cheat in order to win, scamming customers on rare occasions, or even casually causing misery to others. She's yet another rival of Arle, due to Witch wanting to beat Arle in magic.
- Raffina (voiced by Noriko Namiki / Erica Lindbeck): A student of Primp Magic School and the local rich girl of the town. She is a narcissistic girl who is known for looking down on the locals as "commoners", with a weak tolerance for anyone who gets in the way of her often selfish goals. Unlike the other Primp School students, she lacks magical abilities, but she tries to make up for it with her strong kicks. She is the self-proclaimed rival of Amitie (though Amitie sees her as a friend) and a mutual rival to Klug. It's very subtle, especially considering how she still has the occasional jerkass moment, but Raffina appears to have mellowed out somewhat following Puyo Puyo Fever 2. It becomes noticeable in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, where she apologizes to Lidelle for attacking her in a corruption-induced frenzy, openly praises others for their achievements and even quickly agrees to work together with Klug when the two of them find common ground.
- Risukuma (voiced by Kenichi Ono / Kyle Hebert): Yet another resident of Suzuran, he is Ringo and Maguro's senior who attends Suzuran Junior High and runs the Suzuran Junior High science club. After an accident in the school's science lab, he apparently became a human-sized squirrel-bear hybrid wearing lab clothes and is now obsessed with love (mainly how it works). ...And no, this isn't the weirdest thing about him.
- Popoi (voiced by Miwa Kouzuki / Kyle Hebert): Ms. Accord's black cat puppet, Popoi, is usually an assistant. He, much like Accord, is shrouded in mystery, and little is known about who or what he is.
- Maguro Sasaki (voiced by Yuuki Ishikari / Spike Spencer): Another resident of Suzuran, Maguro is the "fashionable" eldest teenage son of Suzuran's local fishmongers. He's a bit of a Deadpan Snarker, and is sometimes even considered to be a bit of an oddball. He attends Suzuran Junior High alongside his friends Ringo and Risukuma. In fact, he's been best friends with Ringo since they were little.
- Ecolo (voiced by Akira Ishida / Spike Spencer): A blob-like space-time traveler with an extremely playful disposition. Though powerful, he does things where his whims take him with no real sense of human morals, which more often than not leads to dire consequences. In Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary, he gains an alternate form named "Unusual Ecolo / Alter Ecolo". As Alter Ecolo, he takes on a more humanoid form, but has an Off-Model character design and very strange mannerisms.
- The Dark Prince (voiced by Chikara Ousaka / Xander Mobus): The ruler of Puyo Hell (aka Puyo Underworld). The Dark Prince is a powerful sorcerer and the residential villain of the Puyo Puyo series (if you can call him that). He normally acts indifferent towards other characters, with the notable exception of Carbuncle and Arle. His ultimate goal throughout the series is to marry Arle and get back his former pet Carbuncle, but his approaches always fail due to a combination of Dark Prince creating far too ridiculous plans to win over Arle and Arle herself simply not having any interest to begin with.
- Yu & Rei (voiced by Miki Hasuda / Cindy Robinson): Ghost twins that haunt the mansion in the middle of Primp Town. Yu's very upbeat and tends to overuse puns. Her younger brother, Rei, is very quiet and seldom speaks.
- Tartar (voiced by Takuo Kawamura / Mark Atherlay): A student at Primp Magic School, Tartar is a lover of nature and all creatures, big and small. He is a good friend of Amitie, Sig, the Fever Birds, Baldanders, and especially Lidelle.
Featured Questies (Potential ENG Casting):
- Atari (voiced by Saran Tajima / Kimiko Glenn): The rookie, part-timer detective of the Spacetime Detective Agency. Though passionate in her field, she tends to throw herself head-first into everything.
- Roquier (voiced by Yoshiaki Kawabata / Haley Joel Osment): The calm and reliable Senior Detective of the Spacetime Detective Agency. As skilled as he is in his deduction skills, he tends to overwork himself.
- Seo (voiced by Yuka Adachi / Rebecca Parham): The CEO of the Spacetime Detective Agency, Seo is a calculated leader that never leaves a case cold or any client unsatisfied.
- Floré (voiced by Hibiki Aoi / Jodi Benson or Natalie Van Sistine): Floré is the president of the student council of the Light Academy, a school of angels. With high-minded air and cold speech, the students, except for other Student Council members, find hard to get along with her. However, she also has a somewhat silly side. Yet, it is not exposed to other students... probably. With perfect behavior, the other students highly respect her, to the point that there is secretly a fan club of her.
- Ciel (voiced by Natsumi Yamada / Erica Lindbeck): Ciel is the treasurer of the student council of the Light Academy, a school of angels. She is almost robotic in nature, being able to provide an answer for almost every question, has an immunity to tricks and lies thanks to her near-perfect memory and is excessively punctual. She does however seem to care for others, feeling honoured when others find her work helpful, and hopes for the player to not take the wrong path during a Quest. She is overly self confident, believing that her calculations are never wrong. Halfway through the story mode, she starts to try to smile and express herself more. She starts partaking in and enjoying conversations more, but remains expressionless and hates small talk. She notices that conversing with others actually helps her own efficiency. One side mission reveals that her expression does change when she is surprised.
- Roco (voiced by Yuki Yamada / Katy Perry or Jessica DiCicco): The Student Council Secretary of the Academy of Light. Constantly smiling, and makes her fellow students feel warmly comforted. Despite this, she's the one single well-balanced mind holding the zaniness of the Student Council at bay. With her radiant personality, she's a strong, dependable figure who pulls everyone into shape, to the point where even the tiniest tap on the shoulder still holds immense power.
- Lux (voiced by Genki Muro / Alan Tudyk, Bryce Pinkham, or Will Ferrell): The Student Council Vice-President of the Light Academy. He has a calm personality and an elegant demeanor. He's always smiling, no matter the situation. It's rumored that his smile is just a facade... He's always one step behind from everyone else, sometimes calmly watching, and sometimes sneaking in a break. He's usually watching everyone from afar. But when push comes to shove, he gets serious... Probably.
- Abyss (voiced by Yuuichi Masuda / Jack Black): A member of the Public Morals Committee of the Light Academy. He is strict, and handles matters with utmost seriousness. His stern expression never appears to change. He is strict, and handles matters with utmost seriousness. He finds any disorder on school grounds reprehensible. He has made it clear that "following the rules" and "leading a fun school life" are intimately linked. He holds others to high standards, but even more so himself. You can find him refining his appearance during breaks.
- Alex (voiced by Emi Takahashi / Julie Ann Taylor): A warrior princess from a far-away kingdom. She wields a golden sword known as the holy sword of Archrage that she inherited from the spirit of a certain lake. Leadership is second nature to her, and she has a stubborn, confident and honest personality, but can also be generous and caring. She tends to think about her homeland a lot.
- Rebecca (voiced by Natsumi Yamada / Haley Tju): A girl who wears a red hood. Her job is to make deliveries, but due to her insatiable curiosity, she always winds up slacking off. She does only what her grandmother requests of her and delivers something from her every day. She may or may not want to know what that something is. Anyone who dares interfere with her deliveries will not get off lightly.
- Wynn (voiced by Kathleen Miyuki / Ashleigh Ball): A girl who’s living with fairies. She loves planning some tricks, and is always up to something. She doesn’t like staying at home for nothing so she’s always seen flying around in different places. She’s a knife-throwing expert, and self-claims that she never misses her aim. Perhaps because of her playful personality, she’s good at understanding many things. She’s counting on her fairy partner.
- Grace (voiced by Yuki Yamada / Anne Hathaway): Ice Queen residing in a frigid land. Because she lived alone for a long time, she can be hard to please. Cold air emits from her body, making those who stand close to her feel chilly. Appearing to have a cold personality, surprisingly she also has an amenable side like a girl. Her ice-like aura seems to getting let up. One day, mutually understanding with her will become possible... or is it?
- Chiquita (voiced by Chihiro Ishiguro / Carrie Keranen): A young girl who aspires to be a legendary knight. She is clad in a suit of armor passed down from her great-grandfather, though it seems to be a bit big on her. She is on a journey to correct the world's injustices. Though the countless tales of knights she's read seem to have given her the wrong ideas. She has a strong sense of justice and is not afraid to face even powerful foes, but sometimes she rushes ahead without checking the enemy's presence. Her steed is her donkey Pablo.
