Chapter Text
Off the Hook was only a concept until 1 month before their debut. There was talk around the city about a new music act coming to Inkopolis, but no faces had been revealed. Pearl was told to come to the music studio to meet the other woman who got casted for Off the Hook. Pearl thought these people were sus as hell. Impromptu meetings, barely any advertising, and disorganization. With these thoughts flooding her mind, she barged into the studio with a sneer on her face.
“What the hell is you guy’s problem? You can’t just call when you wan-”
A taller shadow swiftly moved past Pearl. She looked up and her eyes followed the silhouette, the warm lights of the studio shining off of the woman’s fully exposed back. The woman timidly walked into the music booth and faced everyone behind the glass. Pearl kept her eyes on this mystery woman. She was very easy on the eyes.
“Ahh, I see you even wore your costume here! Very smart choice. This other one just shows up any kind of way.” a female voice barked behind Pearl.
Pearl turned quickly, “Who the hell are you? What did you just say?!”
“I’m you guys' new manager. Now hightailed into the booth, ma’am.”
“Now you wait just a damn minute! You must have the wrong idea on what’s gonna go down here sis. I auditioned and I’m clearly the best one for this gig. You guys need to learn some respect around this joint.” Pearl not letting up on their disrespect and lack of care.
“I- I’m sorry ma’am! We really need this session today! We only have today to dedicate time for some studio recordings and analyze your synergy as a duo. Please forgive me Miss….uhh..”
“Pearl.”
“Miss Pearl! Please forgive me!”
Pearl scoffed, disgusted that her own new manager didn’t know her client’s name. “You’re ridiculous.” Pearl made her way to the recording booth and shut the door.
She rolled her eyes and stood beside her new partner.
“Th..that was very brave…”
“Hell yeah, I don’t let these wannabe executives talk to me any kinda way. And you shouldn’t either.”
The taller woman snickered softly, her head tilted down when she laughed. Hm, cute.
“I’m Pearl by the way.”
“Marina…I look forward to working with you.”
“Let’s get to it!” Pearl said proudly. She didn’t know Marina much just yet, but with how nice she looked, she was secretly looking forward to working with her.
