Chapter Text
The members of Testar arrived at the filming location early in the morning, a sprawling outdoor set surrounded by cameras, crew, and the faint buzz of anticipation. Despite being three years into their career, the excitement of a new variety show concept always managed to stir their energy.
"Good morning!" shouted Eugene, bowing to the staff as they entered the set. The other members followed suit, their voices overlapping in polite greetings as they shuffled to their designated area.
Lee Sejin yawned, stretching his arms overhead. "What are we even doing today? They wouldn’t tell me anything in the van."
Ahyeon, standing next to him, nudged his shoulder. "It’s a variety show. When do we ever know? Just prepare for chaos."
"Good morning, Testar!" The cheerful voice of the show’s director rang out as he walked toward the group. "You all ready?"
"Of course!" replied Raebin with a grin, though his tone was more confident than his expression.
"Great. Let’s get started, then." The director clapped his hands. The cameras rolled as the crew signaled the beginning of the shoot.
Lee Sejin turned back to his bandmates, his eyes gleaming with mischievous energy. "You know what this means, right? If we have to suffer, we’re dragging each other down together."
“Or,” Moondae said with a raised brow, “we can use this as a chance to shine. Show the fans that even when we’re roughing it, TeSTAR is unstoppable.”
“That’s the spirit!” Lee Sejin agreed, throwing an arm around his shoulder. He grinned at the others. “Come on, let’s make this entertaining. Worst case, we end up as memes again.”
“Best case, we trend,” Eugene corrected, winking at the nearest camera.
The members gathered around a covered board next to the director, curiosity evident in their expressions.
"This season, we’re going to mix things up a bit," the director began. "The theme for the next few episodes will be decided entirely by chance."
"Chance?" Bae Sejin repeated, raising an eyebrow.
"Yup!" The director gestured toward the cloth-covered object. "Behind this is a spin wheel that will determine the main concepts for each episode. You’ll have to rely on luck to decide what kind of challenges and adventures await you."
The staff unveiled the spin wheel with a dramatic flourish. On it, colorful sections were labeled with phrases: Reenacting a Drama or Movie, Extreme Adventure, Challenging Live Performances, and three mystery slots labeled Help Me Decide.
"What’s in the ‘Help Me Decide’ slots?" asked Cheongwoo suspiciously, leaning closer to inspect the wheel.
"Well, that depends," said the director with a sly grin. "Those will be audience-voted challenges we’ll announce later."
"Great." Moondae sighed. "More ways to embarrass ourselves."
"Exactly." The director grinned. "Let’s get started. Who wants to spin first?"
The members exchanged wary glances before Cheongwoo stepped forward with a resigned shrug. "I’ll do it. Let’s just get this over with."
He gave the wheel a hard spin, the members watching intently as the colors blurred together. The clack-clack-clack of the wheel slowed until it landed on Reenacting to a Drama or Movie.
The members groaned collectively.
"Drama or movie?" Raebin repeated, his tone edged with dread.
"That’s right!" The director’s enthusiasm was unrelenting. "You’ll be re-enacting scenes from the drama or movie that the wheel selects next."
At this, even Bae Sejin's typically calm demeanor faltered. "Acting?"
"Don’t worry!" The director waved dismissively. "We’ll make sure it’s entertaining for the fans."
The staff quickly brought out another wheel, this one divided into genres: Romance, Action, Comedy, Historical, and more.
"Romance," Moondae whispered in horror. "Please don’t land on romance."
Lee Sejin grinned. "I think you’d make a great romantic lead, Moondae."
Moondae glared. "I’ll remember this."
Cheongwoo spun the wheel again, the tension palpable. The members leaned forward, holding their breath as it slowed.
Romance.
!!!!!!!!!
Ahyeon buried his face in his hands. Eugene burst out laughing. "This is going to be amazing."
"Absolutely not," Raebin protested. "This is a joke, right?"
The director only smiled. "Next wheel!"
Another spin wheel was introduced, with segments representing various roles: Female Lead, Male Lead 1, Male Lead 2, Male Lead 3, Teacher, Female Friend, Female Antagonist.
"Wait." Ahyeon held up a hand. "We’re playing female roles too?"
"Of course! Variety is key."
The members groaned, though they were already exchanging looks of reluctant determination.
"We’re doing this for the fans," Cheongwoo said eventually, his tone resigned. "Let’s just give it our best."
"Yeah, just pray you don’t get a female role," Moondae muttered, earning a laugh from Lee Sejin.
The final wheel with the members’ names was brought out.
"Let’s spin for the female lead first!" the director announced.
The first wheel spun, the names blurring together. The tension among the members was almost unbearable as they waited for it to stop.
"Bae Sejin!"
All heads turned to Bae Sejin, who blinked in stunned silence.
"Wait, what?" Bae Sejin finally said, his voice calm but his expression betraying his shock.
"You’re the female lead!" The director’s smile was triumphant.
Lee Sejin burst into uncontrollable laughter, while Eugene fell to the ground, clutching his stomach. Ahyeon leaned on Moondae for support as they both struggled to contain their amusement.
"This is going to be so good," Eugene gasped.
Bae Sejin sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. "Fine. If I’m doing this, I’m doing it properly. Don’t expect me to hold back."
The declaration silenced the laughter for a moment as the members stared at him.
"Wait, you’re serious?" Lee Sejin asked, incredulous.
"Of course." Bae Sejin straightened his posture, a small smirk playing on his lips. "If the fans are going to watch this, I might as well make it memorable. Let's not forget the two other female roles"
!!!!!!!
While the crew reset for the next spin, Cheongwoo shook his head, laughing. "We’re doomed."
