Chapter Text
~~~Rain… pure droplets falling… we hated the thunder… but you comforted me with your soft warm fur… I don’t recall… but every time I try to reach up… I wake up…~~~
The alarm blares as it breaks her slumber. She stands up, groans, and turns off her alarm. She stands up to look at herself in the mirror; she feels like…herself. She then gets off her bed and stretches.
“That was a decent nap. Let’s see what I can do today,” she says as she walks to her living room, opens the curtains, and showers herself with the first light of the day.
Her apartment is decent and has a nice view of the city. She stands there for a few moments before walking to make herself breakfast. She hums as she pulls out eggs and sausages. She starts by preheating the pan on the stove while grabbing the olive oil from her cabinet.
Once she was done making breakfast, she made herself a plate and sat on her dining table. She picks up the nearby newspaper and starts to read, mainly because she needed a job after her last job scandal…
“Let’s see… pet sitter..? No, Never had one to know the experience…. Customer service? Hell no, I don’t have the social capabilities to handle Karens…” She muttered to herself before seeing that stuck out to her.
‘Pigsy’s Noodles: Looking for new employees to Hire, No Resume Needed’ That set of words struck the chord of opportunity as if it was destiny…
“Hm… seems like a good place to start… and good motorcycle distance… I’ll check it out.” She said as she prepared herself to go out.
She drove to the restaurant on her motorcycle, feeling the sweet summer breeze. She looked around her surroundings, there was still the news of the demon bull family… whoever they were… and also something about a new hero.
“Hey! Bud!” a voice yelled, snapping her out of her thoughts. It was her friend, a floral goat demon.
She then stopped near the sidewalk to greet him.”Hey Antonio…how are you doing..?”She spoke in a soft tone, smiling warmly at her friend.
“I'm doing alright buddy, whatcha headed to?”Antonio asked as he leaned onto a street light with a small smirk.
“I'm going to apply for a job…” she says as she looks at him. “What about you? Dahlias and cacti are special?”
“Heh, yeah. Dahlias and cactuses are 5 dollars for this month only.” Antonio spoke with a wide smile and twirled. “Good luck with your interview, I believe in you..”
The words of a friend made her feel confident, she smiled, determined as the newfound confidence coursed through her veins. “Thanks, I will!” She said as she drove away.
Antonio waved away… giving a sad smile… “Maybe this is the last time I will do this…”
She parks at the entrance of the lively noodle shop, gulps away the fear, and goes inside.
The noodle shop is semi-lively, as only a few customers eat there. The scent of the shop gives off a relaxing relief. She shouldn’t need to worry about some interview; everything would be okay!
She notices an empty seat near someone who looks like a historian, so she goes and sits there silently mumbling what to say in her interview.
“Hello there” Spoke the historian as it stopped her thought process. The historian looks at her, he seems to give off a warm and calm sensation which makes her calm her confidence and her nerves, keeping her okay.
“Huh? Oh, hello…”She said as she looked at him, her voice growing back to her calm tone.
“I'm assuming you are here for the interview... " the historian asked in a calm tone as he sipped his zha jiang noodle soup.
She nods as she scans around the shop.” Are you the owner? " she asks curiously, attentive to her task here.
“Oh, goddess no!” the historian laughs. “I'm his husband, but he asked me to handle the interviews.”
She starts laughing with him but nervously says, " Oh well, sorry, silly me. Well, we can start when you’re comfortable.”
“Understandable, so I’m Tang, and I will interview you, " he said as he adjusted his glasses as if he was going straight to the point.”Please state your name and why you came.”
……
“My name..? That’s odd…” she thought,” Why does my name blank up in my memory..? Why can't I remember my name..?”
“Oh um, my name is…”She mumbled as she struggled to recall.
But then suddenly as if it was a bubble burst in her mind, allowing her to recall a name.
“Rin Xuan…” She said as she looked up again. “Rin Xuan is my name, it is a pleasure to meet you.”
“Well, Rin Xuan, as I assume you have no experience with customer service, we can try training you tomorrow. You are hired,” Tang said, giving her a warm smile.
“What? Really?” Rin said to him before jumping up and down out of excitement.
“You are the first person to have wanted to work here and we were starting to be desperate,” Tang said as he smiled nervously.
“I see, Thank you.”Rin said as she bowed in gratitude.”I hope to work hard to make my stay.”
