Chapter Text
Hizashi is SO excited! In a few months, they’ll have their first Christmas together!
They never really celebrated while dating because each had been so busy with becoming new heroes! But now that they bought a house together and ya know… are MARRIED… that means time together! And NOW, that they all are pretty well established as heroes and are starting on their teaching degrees they are all getting mandatory paid time off for a week! A WEEK! Hizashi is SO happy!
They are all taking a walk to enjoy the end of October, before it gets too cold and, of course, to go to their favourite cat café since their new home is less than a mile away from it. The café is open downtown with all these beautiful niche shops filled with all sorts of stuff on both sides of the street! Restaurants, thrift stores, bars, sweets & ice cream, clothes, cooking utensils… you name it it’s on this street!
Hizashi becomes ecstatic once they finally make it unto the street to see it and most of the stores and shops are decorated for Christmas already!
“Omgosh guys look how beautiful it is. They sure work fast huh!? Halloween is barely over!”
They are all holding hands, he turns to look at Shouta who he sees just rolls his eyes and squeezes Hizashi’s hand once. Hizashi more or less expected that reaction, but what catches him off guard is the glint of awe and uncomfortableness. Hizashi just figures it’s because it’s the amount of people on the street since Shou is an introvert at heart and this IS there time together to decompress.
So he squeezes his raven-haired husband back, and turns to look at Izuku who answers with a very strained smile and forced cheerfulness as he almost death grips his hand,
“Oh yeeeeah Zazhi, it is… beautiful.”
Yeah that was weird. He thought out of the three of them Christmas time would be exciting for Izuku! He knows Shouta grew up pretty poor so, he is hoping to give him a gift filled Christmas, but Izuku’s reaction really threw him off.
They keep walking as he keeps shooting nervous glances at both his husbands.
The further into downtown they go, the weirder both his husbands mood gets.
Shouta starts stimming, using his free hand to stroke, twirl, flatten and repeat the same strand of hair, as he rhythmically squeezes Hizashi’s hand every few moments. He has slightly wide eyes that get wider every time he looks at a decoration or a window shop. He looks like a fish out of water, and Hizashi, for as long as he has known Shouta, can’t for the life of him figure out why.
Izuku is the complete opposite. He is still death gripping his hand. Every time Izuku sees a decoration or a window display with Christmas cheer, Izuku scowls, rolls his eyes, scoffs, and all the above. Every time he catches Hizashi looking at him, Izuku changes his expression immediately to that forced smile and somehow squeezes his hand even harder. Hizashi’s afraid his hand, or at least a few of his fingers are about to break!
He is about to say something about their weird behaviours, when Shouta states,
“Hey Zashi, Izu, we’re here let’s go in, I’m fucking freezing and need my damn coffee and cat cuddles.” Izuku seems to deflate from his tense state as he giggles at Shouta’s statement and looks to Hizashi with a genuine smile finally. Hizashi chuckles too, and squeezes Izuku’s hand once after it finally relaxes.
The weird mood seems to pass over both his husbands, so Hizashi figured it was probably just a fluke, and lets himself be pulled inside by his tired husband.
Thankfully the cat café isn’t very busy so they order their drinks, go to sit at their favourite circular booth, and just let the cats come to them.
They are just enjoying the vibes of their favourite place, petting cats, small talk, the usual.
But then… Hizashi noticed that Shouta was still stimming every five minutes or so while Izuku (who he realized was trying NOT to look at the window) when he glanced out the window, that small scowl would appear, and almost an inaudible scoff could be heard from his green bean of a husband.
Hizashi needed to get to the bottom of this.
He grabs both his husbands chins as he maneuvers himself from being sandwiched in-between them to facing them.
Shouta looks disgruntled as Izuku looks shocked as Hizashi asks…
“Ok my handsome husbands, what the actual fuck is up with you too?”
Izuku blushes in shame, and even Shouta as the decency to look ashamed.
“If I remember correctly, we came here to de-stress after this hectic last week, but you two, look MORE stressed out than we left so what gives!? Do you guys get hit with a quirk or something? Because Sho you’re acting like Izu does and Izu you’re pulling out all of Sho’s scowls and angry noises and almost broke my hand on the way here.”
Izuku blushes deeper as Shouta begins to blush as they glance at Hizashi and at each other like they are trying to figure out what to say.
Shouta speaks up, “Ok Hizashi I’ll tell ya what’s wrong, but can you let go? And NO we didn’t get hit by a quirk of all things well at least I didn’t.”
Hizashi let’s go of Shouta and then they are both looking at their trouble magnet of a husband who just pouts as he whines “NO I DIDN’T GET HIT BY A QUIRK THIS TIME! Ah not cool to tease hubbies… it’s just all the hype for this stupid holiday.
Hizashi lets go of Izuku’s chin in shock as Shouta looks at Izuku in slight shock but more curiosity as he states… “Really, Izuku? I thought I was the only one who would find this holiday cheer… distasteful.”
Now Hizashi feels double whammied, he was expecting Shouta to be apathetic towards Christmas but he actually sounds like he doesn’t like it while Izuku seems to downright despise!
Hizashi is just looking back and forth between both his husbands as he screeches out (barely containing his quirk) “WAIT WHAAAAAAAAAAT!?”
Shouta glares at him with his quirk active, as Izuku goes to gently cover Hizashi’s mouth. After his outburst he quickly removes Izuku’s hand, “My babes… again… what the actual fuck!? Why do you guys hate Christmas!?”
Izuku and Shouta stare at eachother seeming to have a silent argument and it seems Izuku wins if Shouta’s roll of his eyes and Izuku’s small victory smirk mean anything.
“Well… you both know I grew up poor, but I never early said HOW poor because I didn’t see the point.”
Hizashi reflects the sadness in Izuku’s eyes as they both grab Shouta’s right hand while Shouta sips his drink with his left before he continues…
“We never celebrated, never decorated, just… nothing… I am more apathetic than anything, but sometimes I just feel uncomfortable abd even *sigh* jealous, with how much everyone else deems it so important when the only benefit I’ve ever gotten was time off of school and work.”
Izuku nods his head and gives both of the a small smile before he looks out the window and frowns.
“For me it was the opposite Sho, it was too much Christmas. Until I was five it was full of arguments then my parents divorced and it never really affected me besides the holidays when all this family would either give me gifts or said nice things, but never actually cared outside the holidays. I just grew to despise the holiday altogether.”
Hizashi can’t help but give both his husbands a tight hug.
“I’m sorry you both had to deal with such shit childhoods. I wish you both had told me sooner, but I’m glad you could now.”
The trio comforts each other and keeps petting cats until they all decide to call a cab from being so emotionally drained.
Shouta carries Izuku to their bedroom after he had fallen asleep in the cab as Hizashi goes to take a shower.
When he gets out and changed into his softest pj’s, he finds his two loving husbands cuddled together and soundly asleep.
He can’t help but to smile softly, as he walks over to the bed to give them both soft kisses as he crawls into bed on Shouta’s side to be able to hug them both.
He falls asleep thinking on how he can help both his husband’s have the best Christmas ever.
