It was stupid. They had done this part of her fight a dozen times, but they somehow forgot about her mace this time around.
They flew across the room, their body hitting the steps to her throne with a sickening crack. They tried to get back up, but couldn't. Not dead, paralyzed. Shit. This death was going to hurt.
The Queen walked to them, looming over them. She had taunted burning their corpse once, and now they were going to experience that bit. Great.
They tried to move, to yell, to make any sort of sign that they were still alive. Maybe if she knew she would hit them with her mace or her magic instead. It was no use though. They couldn't do a thing as she stood over their body.
They were surprised as the Queen crouched down. Her mace was laid on the floor as she reached out and lifted them from the floor, bringing them to her chest.
And she...held them. She held them close. She was not aware they were even alive, and she held them close as if they were something dear to her.
Tears trickled down their face. It had been so long since they had been touched outside of a fight, and here they were, being cradled by the Undying Queen herself. Her arms supported their limb body to make it seem as if they were leaning into her.
They were held by her for a few minutes before they felt the heat of anything other than her. Even as they felt themself be consumed by purple flame, it was quick enough that they barely felt it.
They knelt in front of the save point in front of her throne room, drying their tears before they would have to face her again.
Maybe...maybe they could lose a few more times.
