Infinity Crisis: Lightyears Ahead
Chapter 1: The Doctor's Avengers
Crystal Cove, Earth-2023
The town of Crystal Cove was under attack. One day, a mysterious army from beyond their universe had begun laying siege to the town as they did to numerous other alternate universes. At the helm of this mysterious army were five overlords dubbing themselves the Conquerors' Cabal, who had formed an alliance to conquer the multiverse as they saw fit.
"It's a shame it had to come to this, mortals." The Cabal's leader Frieza, a white-skinned alien with purple jewels on his body and ice-cold red eyes, declared to a terrified crowd of civilians with a sadistic smirk while creating an energy ball at his fingertip that slowly grew larger as he spoke. "But alas, if you had submitted to the Cabal's rule, I wouldn't feel like exterminating your worthless planet." By his side were Lord Dominator, a beautiful, green-skined alien woman dressed in a revealing black outfit, Rassilon, a humanoid man dressed in red and gold robes who looked suspiciously like a certain British secret agent and came equipped with an ominous gauntlet, Grand Regent Thragg, a tall & muscular man in a red and white costume who had a mustache and a buzzcut, and the most shocking of them all, Mother Brain, a large sentient brain with spikes on its cerebellum and a large eye beneath the cerebral hemispheres. "Now then, any of you have any last words before we turn this planet into an asteroid field?"
"I have some." a dark-skinned young woman with big glasses and an orange sweater said as she stepped out. Some of those features would identify her as a counterpart of Velma Dinkley from Earth-1, but her personality was nothing like her counterpart. "First off, your name sounds like Freezer. Does that mean your family also has cold-related names? Wow, so original. Second, what made you want to decide that you wanted to conquer the universe and junk like that? Oh, I get it, you're just as generic as an average Marvel movie villain."
As Velma continued rattling on in the most condescending matter imaginable, Frieza only began getting more angry at how this mere human was talking down to him. In all his time spent as a conqueror since inheriting his family's planet trade organization from his father, there were only a few who were willing to make Frieza this absolutely livid, namely the Saiyan warrior Son Goku. But as much as he wanted to vaporize this brat where she stood, he needed to save his energy for victims who were more worth his time.
"You're just going to sit there and let this gremlin bully you like that, Freezy-pop?" Lord Dominator asked Frieza, who chose to remain composed through gritted teeth before turning to Rassilon.
"Rassilon, erase that brat from existence." Frieza commanded Rassilon.
"It shall be done, my friend." the Lord President of the Time Lords obeyed Frieza's command and fired a blast from his gauntlet that completely erased Velma from this universe's history. "This shall be the fate that befalls anyone else who dare speaks out against us. Anyone else care to comment?"
Just then, sirens began blaring at the skies over this Earth began turning an ominous red. "The red skies are coming, the red skies are coming!" A Frieza soldier who looked like a frog yelled as he raced towards his masters. "Lord Frieza, the anti-matter waves are coming! We need to fall back immediately!"
"And right on time, I was starting to lose interest in this world." Frieza mused with a purr, as if he expected this universe to be destroyed. "All units, evacuate this planet immediately and return to the mothership! I repeat, return to the mothership!"
At Frieza's command, thousands of Frieza Soldiers, Dominator Bots, Gallifreyans, Viltrumites, and Space Pirates abandoned their posts and began fleeing to the Conquerors' Cabal's ship as a wall of shining white nothingness slowly consumed the Earth. Only a few expendable soldiers were unfortunate enough to not reach the ship in time and were erased by the antimatter.
"It's a shame we have to leave this planet to die." Thragg stated with fake sympathy for the doomed residents of Crystal Cove. "They had so much potential."
"Indeed Thragg, but alas, that repugnant brat had to convince me otherwise." Frieza added with a chuckle. "Goodbye Crystal Cove. I will not remember the time I spent here with all of you. Conquerors' Cabal, retreat!" With that, the Cabal were beamed away to the spaceship hovering above the town before it flew off, leaving the anti-matter waves to finish this world off. In the near distance however, a curious blue police box faded from view with an odd wheezing and groaning sound.
Frieza's Spaceship
"This is a most pressing concern, Frieza!" Rassilon urged Frieza as the Conquerors' Cabal made their escape from the doomed Earth-2023, which they left to be vaporized by the antimatter waves. "We are losing more and more territory to the antimatter waves, the Daleks, and the Cybermen. We need to find ways to combat all of these."
"You are correct Rassilon, this is a serious problem." Frieza contemplated the Cabal's current situation with his hands clasped together. Ever since the Mad Titan Thanos wiped out half of all life across every conceivable universe only for his plot to be undone by the Avengers and their allies, the multiverse was free for anyone to traverse through, and Frieza was no different. And naturally, Frieza began plotting to conquer all that he saw as he formed alliances with likeminded villains, and even found love in one of his allies.
"Oh don't let it get to you, Friezy-pie, we can find a way." Dominator said while giving Frieza a romantic kiss on the forehead, making her fellow psychopath blush in delight.
"Oh my dear Dominator, when I collected you from Earth-2887, I knew it was love at first sight when you told me about how you destroyed planets just because you felt like it." Frieza giggled coyly while the other conquerors rolled their eyes at the couple.
"If you told me that Frieza of all people managed to find love, I wouldn't believe it for a second until seeing it with my own eyes." Mother Brain muttered before the five heard a door open in the distance.
"Ah, Lord Frieza! Welcome back!" Derek Powers greeted Frieza as he walked towards the five conquerors alongside Odalia Blight. "How goes your excursion to Earth-2023?"
"Not the way I expected it to, Mr. Powers." Frieza replied as he separated from Dominator to speak with one of his right-hand men. "All but one of them were too scared to fight back, and even then that one person kept talking down to me like I was some sort of idiot child. So naturally, I had her executed."
"I saw everything from the ship, milord. That girl seemed like a real piece of work." Odalia added with a sneer. "That reminds me, some unruly prisoners of ours need to be punished."
"Oh right, those two." Powers rolled his eyes. "Come with us, Frieza. You have got to see this." Leading Frieza away, the two corrupt billionaires took their boss to the ship's brig where they housed many prisoners who were punished for daring to defy the Conquerors' Cabal. A few in particular included versions of the X-Men from a world where the team was primarily made up of teenage counterparts, Venjix, a malevolent AI from Earth-2009B who once attempted to turn the Dominator Bots against their creator, an equivalent to the Shredder from Earth-1993, and a version of Spike Spiegel from Earth-2021. But two in particular have been a pain in Frieza's necks ever since he abducted them.
"Haruko Haruhara and Julia Jinyu of Earth-20031823." Frieza grumbled as he glared at two young women in a prison cell, one of them having pale skin with flare-cut pinkish-orange hair, yellow eyes, and a red jacket with orange gloves and black pants, while the other had long white hair in a ponytail, tan skin, an orange-rimmed visor, red stripes going over her red eyes, and a short purple jacket over a green tube-top with a black skirt, matching leggings, and white boots. "Must we do this all the time?"
"For the last time Frieza, we will not surrender to you." Julia Jinyu retorted stoically. "Atomsk is ours to hunt down, no matter how much you offer us to join you."
"At least the Bel-Air driving girl is a bit more well-behaved." Derek sneered while looking over to the other woman. "The Vespa Woman on the other hand-"
"If you plan on probing me, then don't threaten me with a good time!" Haruko Haruhara interrupted Derek with a dirty joke, making Frieza groan with annoyance.
"For the last time Haruhara, we are not going to probe you!" Frieza yelled at the Vespa Woman, utterly exasperated at her continued resistance. "Even if we did, we'd barely find anything useful to us. Like for example, what does this FLCL mean anyways?!"
"Scientists have come to the conclusion that it's some kind of nonsense word where she comes from." Odalia replied as she stepped forward. "We know only you and your friend know where the Pirate King is, Haruha Raharu. Either give us what we want, or there will be terrible consequences. Besides, it's not like you're any better for how you desire Atomsk for yourself."
"Except for the fact that she wants him as a lover." Frieza said while resisting the urge to gag at Haruko's sexual desires. "Oh please, I may be rather blatant with my mutual attraction to Dominator, but at least she's a humanoid and not some giant bird creature." Just then, the alarms in the ship began sounding.
"Lord Frieza, there's an intruder onboard the ship!" a Viltrumite yelled as he barged into the brig. "Some phonebooth just appeared, and Rassilon isn't liking what he's seeing!"
"Wait, him, here, now?!" Frieza stammered, knowing just who that phonebooth belonged to, before turning to Odalia and Derek. "The two of you, stay here and keep the Vespa Woman and her other half from escaping!"
"Unfortunately sir, I think they already broke out." Odalia declared before pointing at the broken cell, which now had "EL HARU WUZ HEER" spray-painted on the wall. "I'm surprised as to how they managed to escape though."
"No need to worry milord, we'll keep the others from escaping." Derek sneered before powering up with a sickly green aura, destroying his fake skin and turning him into a ghastly radioactive skeleton. As Frieza flew away from the brig, the cell doors opened and all of his prisoners began pouring out in droves to escape.
"You and your allies won't get away with this." the teenage Cyclops from Earth-11052 declared while leading his fellow prisoners, including other members of his universe's X-Men, in fighting back against their captors.
"On the contrary Mr. Summers, we already have." Odalia declared while conjuring up a purple specter from her necklace to combat the mutant while Blight made his hand glow with a green aura matching his body.
"Get back here, you miserable worm!" Frieza shrieked as he fired laser blasts from his fingers at Jinyu, who cruised her blue Chevrolet Bel-Air through the ship and ran over his soldiers who were just minding their own business. "None shall escape Frieza and survive!"
"You will never have Atomsk!" Jinyu declared before her car suddenly grew robotic limbs and fought back against the galactic tyrant while Haruko, now wearing a Playboy bunny suit for whatever reason, dashed through the halls on a Vespa scooter with a blue Rickenbacker to use as a weapon.
"Alright! LUUUUUNCHTIME!" Haruko screamed as she clashed her guitar with Frieza's energy blast, managing to deflect every beam he fired and causing them to strike down many Space Pirates and Gallifreyans, before smacking him in the head with it.
"This is all a waste of my time!" Frieza screamed back. "Every moment I spend with you two, I feel like I'm getting dumber by the second! Just leave me be so I can take down that Doctor!"
"Doctor? As in the Doctor?" Jinyu asked as she towered over Frieza with a Fender Jazzmaster ready to attack him with. "Raharu, you realize what this means, right?"
"That we can finally have someone check out this rash that's been bothering me lately?" Haruko replied jokingly before she laughed. "I'm kidding, I know who he is!"
"Ah, good to know that we're all familiar with that wretched Time Lord." Frieza smiled evilly. "Perhaps if the three of us join together, we can terminate our shared enemy and use his technology to expand the Cabal's reach across not just the multiverse, but all of history as well. And maybe we can share the power of Atomsk too."
"No dice you freaky alien genotype, Atomsk is mine to take!" Haruko yelled before getting on her scooter and zipping away, with Jinyu in hot pursuit in her muscle car.
"Oh yes, freaky alien genotype, like I haven't heard that one before." Frieza grumbled as he got back to chasing the two women.
"Come out of your TARDIS at once, Doctor!" Rassilon commanded the TARDIS's occupant with Thragg, Mother Brain, Dominator, and their respective armies by their side in the cockpit. "What brings you into conflict with the power of the Conquerors' Cabal?"
Just then, a dark-skinned young & suave English gentleman emerged from the TARDIS in a tan leather coat and a confident grin on his face. "Ah, Rassilon, long time no see."
"I take it that our intruder knows you." Thragg muttered to the Lord President. "He looks different from the one you encountered."
"This must be a regeneration of his." Rassilon replied with his gauntlet at the ready while Frieza entered the cockpit to confront the Doctor.
"Ah, the Doctor, we meet again at last." Frieza greeted the Doctor. "Hm, must've regenerated since I last saw you. Last time we met, you looked like the tenth incarnation."
"Got a bit split in two since then." the Doctor said while calmly adjusting the lapels of his coat. "Now then Frieza, what brings you to this corner of the multiverse? I'm going to assume you're up to your usual shenanigans."
"Oh my, how did you guess?" Frieza replied sarcastically with a sardonic laugh. "I was actually planning on conquering Earth-2023, but one particularly belligerent resident combined with the coming anti-matter waves made me change my mind. 'Tis a shame too, I could've had such useful slaves." Even when Frieza was interrupted by Haruko and Jinyu fighting their way through his men and scrambling into the TARDIS, he remained calm. "I'd like to make an offer, Doctor. I shall let you live if you hand over your little police box and all the wonderful toys inside of it."
"Sorry, but no thanks." the Doctor retorted. "The TARDIS is too valuable to fall into the wrong hands, and I'm not the type to surrender so easily to conquerors like you."
"Then you have tried our hand, Time Lord." Frieza snarled before raising his hand. "All troops, seize the TARDIS!" Before any of the Cabal's forces could attack though, a Frieza Soldier was knocked out by a concussive laser blast coming from the teen Cyclops's visor as he charged into the cockpit with his fellow mutants, who were all younger versions of Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler, and Rogue. "What?!"
"We're sorry Frieza, we tried to stop them!" Blight exclaimed as he and Odalia stumbled into the room fighting off the escaping prisoners, including Spike Spiegel, Venjix, and Shredder. "But those mutants were too much!"
"Excuse me sir, but is there any room for us in your machine?" Cyclops asked the Doctor.
"Of course my boy, I always have room for a few companions." the Doctor politely agreed and allowed the young X-Men and Spike to enter the TARDIS. "Should probably give Ruby a heads up that she'll be getting a few roommates though."
"What are you all standing around for, you wretched fools?!" Frieza yelled at his minions. "Stop them before they escape!"
"Way ahead of you, honey!" Lord Dominator replied as she fired an ice blast at the TARDIS as it closed behind the Doctor, who gave the Cabal a coy smirk before shutting its doors and the TARDIS vanished with a wheezing and groaning sound. "Aw, flarp it!"
"The Doctor is far craftier than we realized." Mother Brain proclaimed. "He barely moved a muscle and he's already got some companions with him."
"We simply cannot allow that Doctor to obstruct our plans." Odalia declared angrily. "I apologize for Derek and I's failure to stop the breakout, Lord Frieza, please understand that the Vespa Woman was simply too insane for us to handle."
"I shall deal with you two later." Frieza growled as he looked to the Shredder and Venjix. "But as for you two, I'd like to make you an offer."
"Let me guess, you want us to join you?" Venjix asked.
"What's the catch?" Shredder added.
The Fifteenth Doctor's TARDIS
As the TARDIS traveled through a time vortex away from the wrath of Frieza, the Doctor watched as his new companions got themselves acclimated to their surroundings.
"We cannot thank you enough for saving us from Frieza, sir." Scott Summers gratefully said to the Doctor while extending a hand to shake. "Scott Summers, aka-"
"Cyclops of the X-Men, I know who you are." the Doctor stated as he accepted Cyclops's handshake. "You're not the first mutants I've come across in my travels, young man. Now tell me, what were you doing in the captivity of that madman Frieza?"
"We were trying to defend our universe from Frieza and his allies." Jean Grey replied. "We ultimately succeeded, but me, Scott, Kitty, Kurt, and Rogue were abducted since Frieza wanted to experiment on us."
"You know, speaking of which, I think you should keep a close eye on some of your friends." the Doctor said while turning to the main console, where Haruko, Kurt, and Kitty were goofing around while Jinyu and Rogue talked with the Doctor's companion Ruby Sunday and Spike reclined against the jukebox.
"Ooh, shiny buttons!" Haruko marveled at the TARDIS's controls like a kid who just got the video game they wanted for Christmas. "I'm gonna touch all of them!"
"Hey, I saw them first!" Nightcrawler argued with the Vespa Woman.
"Okay you two, calm down." Kitty tried to stop the pair from fighting.
"So let me get this straight, your power is that you can absorb memories and powers by touching people." Jinyu said to the Southern goth mutant. "It must be hard making connections with people when you have the potential to risk their lives with abilities like that."
"Like you wouldn't believe." Rogue replied. "But thankfully, I was able to use my powers for good and make the friends I've longed for."
"But what would happen if someone touched you?" Ruby replied.
"HA, THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!" Haruko laughed, making Ruby frown at how she walked right into that one before she looked over at Spike relaxing as he leaned against the jukebox with a cigarette in hand.
"So Doc, did you mean to face off against Frieza?" Spike asked the Doctor.
"I was actually planning on going somewhere else, but the TARDIS was a little shonky as usual and I wound up here." the Doctor stated. "That said, I've actually been putting together a team to stop his reign of terror. And all of you shall be its first members, so I need your help finding more."
Death City, Earth-20408
"Come on guys, we haven't got a moment to lose!" Maka Albarn, a teenage girl with taupe pigtails, green eyes and was dressed in a black trenchcoat, a red plaid skirt, a green tie with white stripes, and black boots with white buckles, said as she charged into battle with a large scythe with a red and black blade. Alongside her were two boys around her age, one with tan skin and spiky blue hair who dressed like a ninja carrying a kusarigama, and one clad in a perfectly symmetrical black and white suit who had ringed yellow eyes, three white stripes on the left side of his black hair, and a pair of revolver pistols in his hands. "Those creatures should be nearby!"
"I think I'll have to correct you on that, Maka." the Immature Death God Death the Kid stated. "They're closer to us than we think." Suddenly, a squad of bug-like monsters with black bodies and glowing yellow eyes emerged to surround the three teenagers. "What did Stein say these were called again?"
"I think he referred to them as Heartless based on those reports he found." the ninja's chain scythe spoke up. "Stein says that, as the name suggests, these monsters feed on the hearts of the innocent, which means we cannot let them get near any bystanders."
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let me at 'em!" the ninja Black Star yelled as he recklessly jumped into battle and started slaying Heartless left and right. But no matter how many he struck down, more Heartless kept coming back to keep Black Star on his toes. "Dammit, there's no end to these guys!"
"You're right, they just keep respawning." Kid replied while shooting down some flying Heartless with his twin pistols. "How many more of these can we ward off?"
"We could use a little help right now!" Maka exclaimed, slashing away at some particularly strong Heartless before one of them was shot down by a laser blast from afar, and the other was held in place by a psychic grip on its body. "Who did that?"
"X-Men, move out!" Cyclops commanded his fellow mutants as he, Jean, Nightcrawler, Kitty, and Rogue leaped into action to assist the Meisters against the Heartless. "No need to fear, miss, we're here to help."
"Listen One-Eye, we were doing pretty fine before you showed up." Maka's scythe Soul Eater Evans said to Cyclops, who blankly stared and realized that he was just insulted by a scythe. "What?"
"Your weapon is talking to me, young lady." Cyclops awkwardly answered, not knowing what to think of what he's seeing.
"We can introduce ourselves later, sir, we need to fight these beasts!" Maka said before focusing on her weapon. "Ready, Soul?"
"Don't need to tell me twice!" Soul nodded.
"LET'S GO, SOUL RESONANCE!" the Meister and her Demon Scythe exclaimed before they were surrounded by a massive aura, amazing Scott as Maka formed her scythe into a letter U shape and sent a couple of heavyset Heartless flying.
"Incredible." Scott gasped in awe before he noticed another flock of Heartless advancing on Maka. "On your left!" The mutant fired another laser from his visor, striking down one of the Heartless in the process. "You're welcome."
Meanwhile, Black Star and Kid stood back to back while fighting off a squad of spherical Heartless with tentacles growing out of their bodies. "These guys got us surrounded, Kid!" Black Star said. "Any ideas?"
"Give me a moment to think here, Black Star." Kid analyzed the situation before he saw Rogue drop in next to the two. "Or we could have our new friends handle things."
"'Scuse me kid, I'm gonna need a hand here." Rogue said before she tapped Black Star on the star tattoo on his shoulder, causing Black Star to become sluggish as he began stumbling about while the goth mutant began fighting off Heartless with the skill of a ninja.
"Black Star, what did she do to you?!" Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, Black Star's chain scythe, asked worriedly while her Meister struggled to stay standing up.
"I don't know, Tsubaki." Black Star said slowly. "All she did was tap me and now I feel like lying down for a bit." Just then, Nightcrawler popped out of nowhere in a puff of smoke and raced Black Star to safety. "Thank you, magic man."
"Hey, no problem ninja boy!" Nightcrawler replied before he teleported away to team up with Kid, Jean, and Kitty against a group of Heartless resembling ghosts, gargoyles, and mummies.
"Contemptuous mummies! You aren't symmetrical in the slightest!" Kid cursed the mummy-like Heartless while shooting them down with his guns.
"Sheesh, what is it with you and symmetry, kid?" Kitty asked the son of the Grim Reaper while she took on the ghost Heartless.
"Don't mind our Meister, he's a total neat freak." Liz Thompson, one of Kid's guns, assured Kitty, who just stared in alarm.
"D-did that gun just talk to me?" Kitty stuttered while absentmindedly making herself intangible to avoid being attacked by one of the gargoyle Heartless.
"We'll explain everything once we clear out these beasts. Now get behind me, girls!" Kid exclaimed before defending Shadowcat from the mummy Heartless's erratic arm swings by blocking them with his guns, while Jean tossed another Heartless into the air with her psychic powers before Rogue eliminated it with a karate kick.
Just when the two groups of teen heroes thought they finally got rid of all the Heartless, a large Heartless with purple armor descended from above with a loud crashing sound. "I think that must be their leader." Maka analyzed the creature's size and the heart emblem on its chest before turning to Scott. "Are you ready?"
"Ready." Scott grinned before shooting a powerful laser from his visor at the armored Heartless's gauntlet that seemed to have a mind of its own, while Maka jumped high in the air to slash at its helmet. "Hey, where's that ninja friend of yours?"
"I'm here, guys! The man who will surpass God shall no longer be benched!" Black Star cheered as he leaped into action like Rogue never touched him in the first place, albeit he was still a tiny bit woozy from having some of his strength drained by the mutant. "And look who should also happen to show up!" Right by Black Star's side was a nervous, pale-skinned youth with light pink hair and a shapeless black dress who carried a large black sword by their side.
"Ragnarok, Screech Resonance." the dour youth commanded their sword, which spawned a thick pair of red lips and let out a powerful shriek that disoriented the massive Heartless, giving everybody else enough time to take it down. Maka and Cyclops worked together to keep the torso at bay, Jean, Kid and Kitty took on the gauntlets, and Kurt, Black Star, and Crona worked together against the armored beast's feet. However, the head proved to be a different matter altogether.
"Behind you!" Jean exclaimed as the armored Heartless head made a mad dash towards Maka and tried to hold it in place with her telepathy. This gave Maka the opportunity to use her scythe to stab the head in its visor, causing it and the rest of the body to fade away into darkness while a large heart ascended towards the sky.
"Good work, team!" Cyclops announced with his fists on his hips and a proud smile on his face before turning to Maka. "I don't think I got your name, young lady. I'm Scott Summers, though my friends call me Cyclops."
"Name's Maka Albarn, Scott." Maka properly introduced herself to Scott while the two shook hands as Maka's scythe transformed into a white-haired young man with red eyes. "I'd also like you to meet my Demon Weapon, Soul Eater."
"Wassup?" Soul added with a wave of his hand while Black Star got in Scott's face.
"So what's the deal with this thing? Are you an actual cyclops and that's where the name came from?" Black Star asked while trying to remove Scott's visor.
"NO, DON'T TOUCH IT, I NEED THAT TO-" Cyclops tried to warn Black Star before the overconfident ninja took off the visor and got twin laser beams straight into his eyes. "Aim."
"MY EYES!" Black Star screamed in pain before falling flat on the ground as Tsubaki changed from chain scythe into a beautiful black-haired young woman.
"Black Star, are you okay?!" Tsubaki yelled as she checked up on her Meister.
"I'm fine Tsubaki, I just got a look into the PUNCH dimension!" a dazed Black Star yelled with his voice cracking.
"Yeah, he's perfectly fine." Kid declared while allowing his guns to change back into a pair of twins with matching cowgirl outfits.
"So, what's up with your eyes?" Liz asked Scott. "Are you guys like superheroes on your world or something?"
"Indeed, we're mutants." Kurt answered while trying to keep Liz's younger sister Patti from playing with his tail. "Basically, we were born with our powers and that makes us victims of prejudice in our universe."
"Wait, universe? As in you guys are from an alternate dimension?" Soul wondered. "Cool."
"But why do people hate you for your powers if you use them for good?" Crona asked the mutants.
"It's simple, really. People are prone to hating and fearing what we don't understand." Jean explained. "That is why we fight to encourage harmony between humans and mutants as the X-Men. But now, we are lost from our universe after fighting to defend it from a mad tyrant from beyond our world."
"And that obviously means we gotta go kick this guy's ass, along with anyone he's hanging with, right?" Black Star asked, ready for whatever otherworldly challenge he and his team may face.
"That's the gist of it." Kitty replied. "In fact, we're here because someone wants you on a team."
Speaking of which, the Doctor stood on a rooftop above Maka's team and the X-Men, smiling with confidence knowing that their teamwork would be a useful asset to him and his new companions.
Taisho era Japan, Earth-2016
It was a cool moonlit evening in a Japanese forest during the country's Taisho era. During this time, three young boys were walking through the forest in search of monsters they heard rumors about. Their leader, Tanjiro Kamado, was carrying around a large box on his back that seemed big enough to carry another person inside of it. Despite the figurative and literal burden he carried on his shoulders, Tanjiro's kind heart and determination persisted against the odds he faced as a Demon Slayer alongside his two friends Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibara. But in this particular instance, the trio were about to face a threat beyond what they were familiar with.
"What's taking so long, where is this guy?" Inosuke stamped his feet impatiently while the nostrils of his boar mask flared. "I wanna beat the crap out of him right now!"
"Inosuke, calm down!" Zenitsu said nervously as he looked like he was about to have a panic attack. "I'm sure this guy will show himself any second now! Right, Tanjiro?"
Just then, Tanjiro stopped his two friends as he heard a rustling in the woods. "Wait, you guys. I can sense something." He sniffed the air around him for trouble as his younger sister Nezuko peeked her head out of the crate on his back to check up on her big brother. "Stay inside, Nezuko. There's no telling what this creature could do to you."
"Yeah, I hear it rides around on some sort of strange machine beating people with a guitar!" Zenitsu agreed with Tanjiro. "We wouldn't want this bastard hurting poor Nezuko-chan!"
Just then, the three boys heard a strange revving sound as Haruko leaped out of the bushes on her Vespa scooter with her Rickenbacker at the ready. "ALRIGHT, LUUUUUNCHTIME!"
"Is that her?" Tanjiro asked, tilting his head in confusion at the strange girl on the even stranger mode of transportation while Nezuko mumbled through the gag on her mouth.
"YOU DIDN'T TELL ME IT WAS A GIRL!" Zenitsu yelled before Inosuke shoved him out of the way.
"Doesn't matter who this is, I wanna fight it!" Inosuke cried as he charged at Haruko with his twin swords at the ready. "I'M COMING THROUGH! REEEEE!" However, Inosuke's recklessness caused him to charge headfirst into the Vespa, causing the two to crash into each other as Inosuke was sent flying into a tree.
"Oh no, Inosuke!" Tanjiro cried and was about to rush to his friend's side before Haruko stopped him.
"STOP!" Haruko yelled while spinning her stretched out hand like a wheel, much to Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Zenitsu's confusion as she got uncomfortably close to them. "NATIVE EARTH BOYS MUST STOP! Piggy here just hit his head, so you can't move him yet, okay?"
"Excuse me miss, I don't know what you want, but that's my friend you just ran over." Tanjiro said to Haruko as she examined the unconscious Inosuke before smacking the pig boy across the face, causing his boar head to fall off and revealing his strangely feminine face underneath as Haruko gasped.
"HE'S DEAD! THIS YOUNG BOY IS COMPLETELY DEAD!" Haruko screamed in despair while dropping a white cloth over Inosuke's unmasked face.
"Yeah, because it's your fault!" Zenitsu exclaimed as Haruko dropped on her knees.
"Oh, I finally find the guy he wanted, but I killed him!" Haruko complained as she began moving around while on her knees, making Tanjiro and Zenitsu even more befuddled at this crazy lady before them. "But then again it was kind of an accident. Let's face it, I definitely, totally killed him, just like that! BANG! No, more like bonk, kablam, or kunka-kunka, splat! Yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah. Yeah."
"Is this some kind of demon?" Tanjiro muttered as he turned to Nezuko, who only shrugged in response. Just then, Haruko dramatically took off her helmet, revealing her whole face to the trio before removing the cloth and grabbing Inosuke by the face just as he was about to wake up.
"COME BACK TO LIFE!" Haruko yelled before kissing Inosuke on the lips as he yelled in shock and anger.
"AAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH, RAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHH!" Inosuke roared as he fully regained consciousness and attacked Haruko while Tanjiro tried in vain to stop him. "I DEFY YOU, EVIL BIKE LADY!"
"Inosuke, wait, we don't know who she is yet!" Tanjiro urged Inosuke before he felt Nezuko emerge from her box to tug her brother's sleeve while pointing in the distance. "What is it, Nezuko?"
Nezuko was pointing towards Jinyu driving towards the three Demon Slayers in her Bel-Air, to which Tanjiro responded by trying to halt her from hitting more of his friends like Haruko did to Inosuke. "Miss, please stop your car! My friend has already been run over, I don't want anyone else to get hurt!"
Without saying a word, Jinyu leaped from her Chevrolet and landed in front of the Demon Slayer trio with utmost style and grace. "As always Haruha, you lay it on a bit too thick."
"Hey, don't blame me, this crazy pig boy keeps hitting me!" Haruko responded while raising her leg to show Inosuke trying to take a bite out of her.
"Sorry for my friend here. My name is Tanjiro Kamado." Tanjiro introduced himself to the two women. "This is my sister Nezuko, that's our friend Zenitsu, and the guy trying to eat you is Inosuke."
"Can you run me over next?" Zenitsu asked, falling head over heels for Haruko despite her outrageous entrance.
"It's nice to meet you, Tanjiro. I'm Julia Jinyu." Jinyu introduced herself to Tanjiro. "The girl who nearly turned your friend into roadkill is Haruha Raharu, my other half. Though she insists on being called Haruko Haruhara."
"What up?" Haruko greeted while tearing the still feral and vengeful Inosuke from her leg. "You should get those guy his shots, I think I might've gotten rabies."
"Anyways, we have come here to warn you of a madman known as Frieza who plots to conquer the entire multiverse with help of other likeminded sociopaths." Jinyu explained. "And we also give you the opportunity to join us against him."
"Sure, anything to defend the innocent." Tanjiro readily accepted Jinyu's offer. "Where do we start?" Just then, the TARDIS faded into view with its trademark wheezing and groaning sound before Maka and Cyclops emerged from the police box, opening its doors for Tanjiro and friends to join the fight.
Ostania, Earth-2019022
"We're going on an ooting, we're going on an ooting, la la la la!" a little girl with pink hair and green eyes sang out loud while walking around town with her adoptive parents on a sunny spring day.
"For the last time, we're going on an outing." the girl's father Loid Forger gave his daughter a good-natured laugh. "Though I'm not really sure why. The man on the phone told us to meet him in an alleyway somewhere around here." Though the Forger family seemed perfectly normal at first glance, each member hid a huge secret from each other. Loid was a spy tasked with adopting a child and getting married in order to preserve peace between the warring countries of Westalis and Ostania, while Yor is an assassin working undercover at City Hall, and their adopted daughter Anya is a child with psychic powers that allowed her to learn her parents' secrets right off the bat. Though their family was fake, their love for each other was definitely real.
"Hopefully it has nothing to do with what we've been hearing on the news lately." Yor added. "Something about a strange snake man robbing banks." Just then, Yor heard a strange hissing sound and her assassin instincts kicked in to protect Anya with her life. Out of an alleyway came a humanoid snake man who had snake mouths at the ends of his arms instead of normal human hands, making Loid and Yor's eyes widen in confusion at the bizarreness of this creature.
"Greetings, I am Ssserpent, the snake that walks like a man." Ssserpent introduced himself to the Forgers. "I'm going to need you to hand over all of your valuables so that I will let you leave here alive."
"A talking snake man? So cool!" Anya's eyes lit up with wonder while Loid stood in front of his wife and daughter in defense.
"We will give you whatever you want, snake man." Loid stated. "But if you harm me, my wife, or our daughter, I won't hesitate to hurt you."
"Go ahead, do with me as you please, won't stop me from poisoning you though." Ssserpent bragged as he stretched out his left arm and began holding Yor hostage. "I shall give you a choice. Either give me everything you got or your wife gets it!" Unfortunately, Yor was far more capable than Ssserpent was led to believe as the disguised assassin dug her nails deep into his skin, making him yowl in pain. "Yeesh, that smarts!"
"How about you leave the nice family alone?" Spike Spiegel ordered Ssserpent while stepping out of the shadows and pointing his gun at the snake man. "It's me you want."
"Ah, Spike Spiegel, we meet at last!" Ssserpent cackled as he dropped Yor to the ground. "Frieza hired my services so that he could recapture you and gain control of your world. It's a shame that the rest of your crew couldn't come to see your upcoming demise." He let out a hissing evil laugh while Spike looked down in shame, indicating to Loid that this strange man didn't part ways with his friends on amicable terms. "And don't you worry, we still have Edward in our custody, and have special plans for her as well."
"Listen snake man, I don't know what you want with me, my family, or this man, but make no mistake," Loid said quietly while pulling a gun from his jacket to threaten Ssserpent with. "if you dare hurt any of us, I will make you die regretting it." Taken completely by surprise at how this normal human had just threatened to kill him, Ssserpent hissed in shock before slither away. "Yeah, you better run!"
"That wasn't half bad, sir." Spike complimented Loid's calculating approach. "Name's Spike, by the way."
"Loid Forger, pleased to meet you." Loid greeted Spike before he was reunited with his wife and child.
"Papa, you were so cool!" Anya cheered for her adoptive dad. "I loved how you threatened that snake man!" Then she looked over at Spike. "And you were so cool too, Mr. Spike!"
"Well, aren't you just a little bundle of energy?" Spike chuckled. "I'm gonna need you all to take me home with you. There's something we need to discuss."
Forger Household
"So, let me see if I'm making this clear." Loid said as he, Yor, Anya, and their dog Bond sat down with Spike at their house. "You're a bounty hunter from another dimension who was abducted by a psychotic space emperor and was later freed by a time-traveler who wants to form a team to stop them?"
"That's basically it, yeah." Spike declared. "My friend has been scouting for people with very particular skills he believes would be useful in his crusade against Frieza, and wouldn't you know it, that includes all of you too. Now tell me, are you willing to risk your lives for this universe and all other universes?"
"I am, I am!" Anya bounced up and down on Loid's lap in excitement, but Loid wasn't too sure.
"As much as I would like to accept, I'm not sure if it would be safe for Anya to enter such a dangerous mission." Loid objected. "Are you sure she'll be out of harm's way throughout this adventure?"
"Don't worry, the Doctor's got people that he trusts to keep her safe." Spike smirked before the TARDIS began fading into view, complete with its signature wheezing "VWORP, VWORP" noise while Bond let out a bark.
"BORF!" Bond barked before the TARDIS settled into the middle of the Forgers' living room and opened its doors. "Borf!"
"Oh yeah, almost forgot, my friend is a time-traveler." Spike proclaimed before he and the Forger family began boarding the time ship.
The Fifteenth Doctor's TARDIS
"A time-traveler? So cool!" Anya yelled in amazement of the TARDIS as she, Bond and her adoptive parents stepped inside.
"Wow, it's bigger on the inside than I thought." Loid commented on how surprisingly spacious the police box was.
"If I had a pound for every time somebody said that." the Doctor replied with a smirk as he, the X-Men, Maka and Tanjiro's teams, Haruko and Jinyu, and Spike all appeared to welcome the Forger family onto the TARDIS. "Hello there Mr. and Mrs. Forger, I'm the Doctor."
"Doctor who?" Yor asked.
"And add another pound for every time somebody asked that." the Time Lord laughed before turning to the time ship's consoles. "Now then everyone, are you ready?"
As the TARDIS began vanishing from the Forgers' home and Earth-2019022 altogether, a cloaked figure stood outside the house, having watched the meeting the entire time. "And so it begins." the figure monologued in a youthful voice. "An army of monsters bent on conquering the multiverse, and only one madman in a police box and his army of misfits are all that's standing against him. However, they'll need to act quickly if they want to survive the coming Crisis." The figure then pushed down his hood, revealing a red-furred fox with hedgehog spines who wouldn't seem out of place on Earth-1991. "You may call me Lightyear, and I shall be charting the ever-expanding multiverse with great interest."
So, for my first personal addition to the ever-growing Infinity Crisis multiverse, I think I did a pretty good job for my first time. I'm not sure if I can make regular updates, but I'll see what I can do. Now, onto the specifics that my now-fellow IC authors like to do.
* Obviously, Frieza comes from Dragon Ball Z, and given the amount of villains plotting terrible things for the multiverse, he'd probably want to throw his hat into the ring as well, especially with powerful allies by his side like Lord Dominator, who he is now evil couple's goals with. What can I say? Psychopathic planet-destroying enemies of happy orange heroes have to stick together! In addition, Dominator coming from Earth-2887 is a reference to Ducktales 2017's numerous nods to Wander over Yonder to the point where it's accepted by the creators that the two might share a universe. The two of them represent anime and cartoons respectively, with Rassilon representing the live action portion of the IC multiverse, Thragg representing comic books, and Mother Brain representing video games. I wanted to have six members, but I couldn't find the right one so I whittled it down to just five.
* In addition, Derek Powers and Odalia Blight come from Batman Beyond and The Owl House respectively, the former of which I finished the first season of on Max. While the DCAU crew decided to leave Powers behind after he was defeated by Terry McGinnis, I thought he would be the kind of guy to join forces with someone just as sadistic as he is, which eventually led Derek to siding with Frieza after he was rescued from his seeming demise. In addition, pairing him up with Odalia made sense since they're both villainous businesspeople who aren't on very good terms with their children. Though in Derek's case, Paxton is just as conniving as he is. Plus, Blight teaming up with another Blight was too good to pass up.
* The X-Men, as the universe designation should imply, come from X-Men Evolution, which I started watching as I write and post this. The universe was sort of already featured in Freedom Force, but that was a future version of the series and this is the regular versions of the cast from the show. Likewise, Venjix comes from Power Rangers RPM, which is confirmed to be a separate universe from the regular Power Rangers on Earth-1993, while the Shredder is from Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, which I placed on Earth-1993 due to the show's crossover with Power Rangers in Space. Finally, Earth-2021 is the universe the ill-fated live action Cowboy Bebop series takes place on, and the doomed Earth-2023 is the universe home to Velma since I needed a universe to destroy that nobody would miss.
* Haruko and Jinyu are stated to come from Earth-20031823, the universe number being a reference to FLCL's original Japanese airdate in 2000, its 2003 premiere on Adult Swim, and the premieres of its sequel seasons in 2018 and 2023. Soul Eater (and by extension Fire Force, IYKYK) takes place on Earth-20408, a reference to the manga's first publication in 2004 and the anime's premiere in 2008. Earth-2016 is the world that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba takes place on. And finally, Earth-2019022 is the world of Spy X Family.
* In case it wasn't obvious by now, the Heartless come from Kingdom Hearts, and just like how Sora, Donald and Goofy were brought together through fighting the Guard Armor, the same can be said for Maka's team and the X-Men. Plus, both Soul Eater and Kingdom Hearts are owned by Square Enix, in case you didn't know already.
* Meanwhile, Ssserpent is a very minor Ben 10 villain from the Alien Force/Ultimate Alien era who is so obscure, he escaped capture in his last appearance and hasn't been seen since. He didn't even make a cameo in Omniverse, which was filled with appearances from characters you wouldn't expect to return, because the late and very great Derrick J. Wyatt didn't like his design. Naturally, since I needed some way for the Spy X Family characters to get some action, I included Ssserpent on a whim after hearing about him on a video by The Ink Tank about unresolved plotlines in Ben 10.
* This first chapter was mostly an excuse to get some of my favorite anime series involved in the multiverse, sue me, and I got lots more where that came from. Which reminds me of another idea I have for Infinity Crisis.
Earth-1992, Neo-Gotham City
It shouldn't be a coincidence that this terrorist group struck Gotham on the day of Bruce Wayne's death, the Batman of the future known as Terry McGinnis thought to himself as he raced through numerous explosions causing buildings to crumble down while saving whatever bystanders he could find. But who could've done this, and why is their idea of a calling card some kind of teddy bear?
As Terry stopped on a rooftop to take off his mask and catch his breath, he glared up at a holographic billboard depicting a teddy bear that was black with a jagged red eye on the left half of its body and white on the right half, letting out a sinister "Upupupupupupu!" as Neo-Gotham continued falling to chaos.
"Whoever's behind this, they got another thing coming!" Terry declared before he turned to discover a portal opening behind him, followed by six color-coded animals appearing out of it. Their leader, a yellow-furred rabbit carrying a sword over his shoulder and eating a carrot, had only one thing to say.
"So this must be Oith-1992." the rabbit said while Terry's jaw dropped at what he was looking at. "Eh, what's up, doc?"
