Chapter Text
Danny stood up and walked after the agents, it was time for his training, the agents hardly spoke with him anymore and it was a little tough. He had lived in the GIW facility for years, forgetting what his friends and sister even looked like. Elle was created shortly before he was taken, she disappeared, for that he was thankful, at least they couldn't get their hands on her.
He had just recently turned eighteen, the only celebration he got was mildly edible food and less training then usual. His entire body ached as he fought the GIW machines, doing his best to hold back his strength and not destroy them. The agents on the other side of the room scribbled on their clipboards and whispered between themselves about his progress.
"Alright that's enough. We need to run some tests now," Agent M said and Danny nodded, halting in his attack and walking over to the agents. It was better for him to comply, he learned that a long time ago. He was brought into the examination room and sat down on the metal table, Danny looked down at his lap and swallowed thickly as he was hooked up to machines.
"Create two duplicates," Agent R commanded and Danny nodded, doing as he was told but straining because of his fatigue. Agent R hummed and wrote something down before telling Danny to bring the duplicates back in. Agent Q came around and attached a blood pressure cuff to Danny's arm, the half ghost breathed steadily, trying to prevent the cuff from squeezing his arm too much.
"Blood pressure resting at seventy five over fifty five, as usual," Agent Q said into a voice recorder, looking at some of the other machines," body temperature is at seventy five degrees, bpm is sitting at fifty," he continued. Agent Q ran a few more tests before sending Danny off to his room.

"PH-001 is almost ready to be put into the field, I propose we wait for a crisis to send him out," Agent T said to the director. She hummed and looked at the footage," his strength has increased by 120% in the past months, his speed is up by 95%, and his intelligence is unprecedented," Agent T explained. The director shut off the screen and rested her arms on her desk.
"PH-001 will be sent out when I feel he's ready, have his kill switch ready to go if he decides to get any ideas when that happens," the director instructed, Agent T nodded and tucked his clipboard under his arm. He said his goodbyes to the director and walked out of her office and sighed after years of doing this he didn't know if it was right to send Phantom out, he was questioning if they even did the right thing raising him as a weapon.
Agent T shook his head, he couldn't be thinking that way, Phantom was dangerous and he had to be controlled, it was why they made him a weapon for the United States. That's what he told himself as he continued looking over Phantom's test results.
---
Phantom looked at the sun for the first time in awhile, feeling its warmth on his skin as the breeze blew through his hair. The GIW had let him out to deal with a crisis, a world destroyer if he remembered correctly. The half ghost flexed his muscles before shooting forward, breaking the sound barrier as he flew towards Metropolis where the world destroyer was.
He stopped," that's Trigon, get rid of him and return to base. No acceptions," Agent Q said through Phantom's earpiece, the half ghost nodded and clenched his fists. Phantom flew forward and reared his fist back, punching Trigon between the eyes. The impact of the punch shattered the windows of nearby buildings and Trigon stumbled back a little bit.
"Foolish child, you think you can defeat me? Trigon?" the demon asked and Phantom didn't say anything, he flew forward again and slashed his claws across Trigon's face, causing the demon to shout in pain. He held his hand over his right three eyes, looking up at Phantom after a moment, growling as his other three eyes flashed. Trigon took a thundering step forward and backhanded Phantom.
Phantom flew into a building, metal support beams creaking and glass flying everywhere as Phantom slammed into a wall. The half ghost groaned and pushed himself up, shaking his head and flying out of the building. He punched Trigon on the side of the face and watched as the demon fell over, Trigon's eyes glowed and he shot beams of energy at Phantom.
The half ghost threw up a shield until the beams were gone, Phantom snarled, exposing his fangs as he shot an ectoblast at Trigon. Phantom heard screaming and looked down to see civilians below, he flew down and grabbed as many as he could, getting them to safety.
"Focus on me, child, so you can face your death," Trigon said, going to stomp on Phantom.
"You have permission to use deadly force. Prioritize saving as many lives as possible," Agent Q said in his ear and Phantom nodded, shooting up into the sky and uppercutting Trigon. The demon stumbled and spat out a few teeth, creating craters when they hit the ground, Phantom then threw punch after punch, never letting Trigon recover or fight back.
Phantom's vision tunneled as he could only focus on carrying out his task, his obligation to protect this country in the name of the Ghost Investigation Ward. Trigon fell on his back and Phantom started throwing ectoblasts at the demon, creating wounds and burns all over his body. Trigon's blood splattered as Phantom continued hitting him, covering his hands and spattering on his cheeks.
He breathed heavily as his eyes flashed blue, a spike of ice shot up from the ground and went through Trigon's head, killing the demon. Phantom stood, blood dripping from the tips of his fingers as he breathed heavily. The half ghost shakily brought his hands up and looked at them, tears dripped down his cheeks as the reality of what he had just done hit him.
"Return to base, you performed...exceptionally," Agent Q said and Phantom slowly lifted off of the ground before flying away from the city.
---
Phantom scrubbed hard against his skin, trying to wash away the feeling of blood, it felt so wrong. He was sick to his stomach that he had been forced to kill someone, even if that someone was a demon. The half ghost thought that he would have gotten used to the methods of the GIW and how they got him to comply with what they wanted from him.
He shut off the water, breathing shakily as he dried himself off and pulled on his clothes, Phantom stood in front of the mirror and saw a murderer staring back at him. The half ghost closed his eyes and turned away from the mirror, walking out of the bathroom and into his room, he would ignore these feelings so he could do his job, it was better that way.
---
"PH-001 performed well today. Increase his training so he's more prepared for the next threat," the director ordered and Agent S nodded, walking out of the room. He walked through the halls of the compound, stopping in front of Phantom's room. He slid open the small window on the door and saw Phantom in his bed, crying silently to himself, Agent S scowled and closed the window.
If this is what one fight did to Phantom they would have to work on his emotional responses, something to essentially block his emotions would work nicely. With that thought Agent S walked to the dining hall where the other agents were.
