the depths of love

Summary:

Sausage is tending to the altar of the Hole Church, enjoying the lurking presence of a shopkeep that is still an unfamiliar face enough to be fascinating but not enough that he feels like he knows them too well.
It's just good manners to pay attention and help them feel welcome, right?

Notes:

Prompt:

prompt: pious altar boy Sausage/mysterious shopkeep who keeps lurking around the local church Mog. make of that what you will! (roleswapping them also valid! Retired pastor and tavern owner Sausage and priest-who's-new-in-town Mog?)

DNW: hybrids (characters who have non-human features on their Minecraft skins can still have those features, I just don’t want them to be called hybrids) || cameos from characters that aren't on SOS SMP || Watchers / Watcher lore

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Sausage glanced over at the unfamiliar yet quickly becoming known face of the fascinating stranger, giving his typical enthusiastic wave whenever said stranger met his gaze. He was mostly ensuring the altar was in order, needing everything in place if he was going to possibly worship the Hole properly, though he could've sworn that this guy was around before.

That was the helpful new shopkeep, right? The one who had such lovely mead in all sorts of flavors to try? Oh, and the candles seem from the leftover wax were just beautiful, can't forget about those... And— well, okay, maybe he paid too much attention to the way the new shopkeep's eyes tended to go a bit cross-eyed when focused in an endearing way, or the small tusklike teeth that were shown off any time they grinned, or even the attentive nature they had when tending to their bees than someone who had a passing interest in a newcomer, but he was curious! Can he possibly be blamed for some harmless curiosity?

No, of course not. He was just being a perfectly reasonable and normal worshipper of the Hole who was being normally welcoming to a newcomer. Perfectly reasonable indeed.
