Kai and Jake sat in the waiting room, the clock slowly ticking by. The footsteps and the soft chatter of nurses and families, it felt so much for the two. A trio missing their middle man.
"I don't think Phillip knows that we aren't completing this shift." Kai softly whispered as Jake sighed, he had forgotten about Phillip. He wasn't going to lie about that, with the stress of everything and having to sign the consent forms to let the doctors do blood transfusions and surgery to hopefully prevent paralyzation.
"Kai, I don't think he'll give a damn considering our current situation. You'd probably be more concerned about how Dylan is doing then if we completed the shift or not." Jake bluntly told his friend, resting a hand on Kai's shoulder.
"You're right, I'm just scared. I know he had a pulse when we last saw him but what if the surgery doesn't go correctly?" She expressed her worries to the other as Jake pulled her into a hug.
"I know you're scared. I am as well but we have to hope." The older mumbled as Kai hugged him back. The two stayed like that for a bit before pulling apart so they could call the people they needed to.
Sammy was chilling at home, watching some horrible TV show while she ate breakfast. It was only 7am when her phone started to ring. "It's probably nothing" Sammy mumbled to herself as she grabbed the phone and looked at the caller ID.
Secret Lesbian (Not Secret)
'Why would Kai be calling her this early in the morning? Unless Jake nearly got killed and couldn't drive.' Sammy thought to herself as she answered the phone and put it against her ear. "Sammy speaking." She mumbled, trying to not sound so sleepy.
"Sammy, are you sitting down somewhere?" Kai's voice cut through the silence.
"Yeah, what's going on Kai? You usually don't call me unless something serious happened." Sammy questioned, her voice laced with concern.
Kai was quiet for a while. "there's no way to not say this without making you but it's Dylan. We were in the middle of a job and we were getting chased by one of the animatronics." She started to explain as Sam felt more awake as she got up, to get ready. "We ended up on one of the cat walks. He got caught on something and then, As soon as I turned my head to look at him, he fell to the floor." She finished as Sam froze on the steps of the stairs to get her room.
"Oh. I’m on my way. I'll be there as soon as I can. Just send me the address of the hospital." Sam told Kai before the call ended. She stood there for a moment, trying not to cry. Sammy realized that she didn't even ask what Dylan's current state was. It took a few more moments before she trotted up the stairs to her room.
It was hours later, around noon at this point. Sammy sat in the middle of Jake and Kai, The three were waiting to hear any answers from anyone at this point on how the blond was doing. Jake had left at one point to walk around and when Sam first showed up, she offered to get them food, but it seems like no one could stomach anything at the moment. Sammy couldn't even blame the two for not wanting anything. She would've been the same if she had witnessed it.
"Have you two contacted Phillip?" Sammy whispered, wanting to know if she was gonna have to do it or if the police already had contacted him.
"No, I don't think I could even face him at the moment. Nothing wrong with him just I would feel like sobbing if I had to tell him that we couldn't finish because of what happened." Kai softly said as Jake nodded his head, staying quiet.
"I'll contact him later what matters now is that we just sit here and wait for anything." Jake whispered. The three went back into silence after that.
