>a.Heri - “Hi, everyone… miss Heri asked me to write down a brief history of our time before we got here, I think it’s to do with making some sort of history document for the other Aurelia? Not all of you will remember all of this, but I’ll do my best to write it all down properly for everyone who does! Please make sure your owner is okay with you reading through all this first :)”
- BEGIN LOG
The early Terrans lived on a planet known as Terra for thousands of years. It had cities just like the ones on the Aindel ships, but much dirtier and unequal. They first went into space in 1963, where we sent some people to the moon and back. It didn’t serve much of a purpose.
Things lasted until 2293, where Terra entered a full-scale war with a planet called “Eyres” that was about a light year away from it. Terra had been heating up for a while, thanks to something called global warming, which was caused by the Terrans putting gases in the air while they made things. During the war, it got a lot worse, at first it was to produce enough ships to win the war against the other planet, and then it was for something a lot bigger. I’m not too sure what it was, though.
R.Heri [LOCKED] > The development she’s referring to was known as the ”Halo”, a weapon that was capable of eviscerating a planet if given sufficient time to charge. Their main colony ship was originally designed to act as a vessel for it. They carried it over to Eyres using the first prototype of their afterburner modules; it took about ten years, from memory. They managed to take the Eyrians by surprise by charging up the weapon in time with their arrival, so they weren’t able to stop the ship before it reached its’ destination. The “Halo” broke Eyres into several fragments, and the war concluded in a victory for the Terrans. <
The war was way too much for Terra to handle though. By the time it was over at least 20% of the world’s once-hospitable surface had become uninhabitable due to resource consumption, and even more had been razed by the Eyrian war. The Terran governments all banded together to begin a project they called “Project Exodus”, making a lot of colony ships to go along with the big one they used during the war. They planned to abandon Terra and head for the stars, in hope of finding somewhere new to live.
By the time it was finished, over half of Terra’s population as it had been prior to 2293 had vanished. They put as many people as they could onto the colony ships, fitting so many that there wasn’t enough room for anyone but the people at the very top. The rest weren’t allowed to go with them.
They didn’t last very long before they started fighting one another. The old Terran governments banded together to form the Central Restoration Government, and dubbed the ships under their command the Central Restoration Fleet. About a quarter of the ships decided to break away from the Government fleet, unsatisfied with their ruling choices that they said would “promote peace” among their ships. They became known as the “rebels”, and were declared to be in violation of the CRG’s laws. The biggest loss was the colony ship that used to be known as the “CRF Astram”, which held three of the government’s strongest destroyer-class ships.
Things didn’t go so well for our government after that, and things were even worse for some of the rebel fleets. For years we remained in space, our resources dwindling and the government resorting to more and more extreme forms of capitalism to keep the economy functional. Lots of people would share rooms aboard the ships made only for a single family, and with the loss of our three best destroyers, we didn’t have much to protect us from any threats that were out there in space. Even when I came into presidency, there wasn’t much I could do to fix everything.
Eventually, the main colony ship was spotted by an Aindel patrol craft! As I was president of everyone at the time, they came on board and worked out some terms with me and the rest of the government. They’d take us in, keep us safe, and give us a home free of any of the fights we used to have, and even keep some of us close to them! It was perfect. I signed over the fleet to the Aindel, and they brought us over to the Caprice. The Caprice is their mothership, so there was enough space to fit almost everyone, but anyone who didn’t fit went to the sister ship instead,
Now, lots of us live in cities run by the Aindel! The rest of us decided to become Aurelia for them. Most of us are aboard the Caprice, but some of us are aboard some of their smaller ships. We’re probably in a better place than we ever have been before!
> R.Heri - This should serve as a sufficient brief history of the Terrans and their recent past. Please rest assured, we hope to retrieve the so-called “rebel” fleets as soon as we can and offer them protection under our care. We have been able to locate several Sophonts from these ships already, and hope to bring the rest into our care shortly.
