Through Light and Ash

Summary:

(In which I steal the premise of In Tears and Suns and make it worse by removing widely beloved protagonist Niko and replacing them with my own completely unknown character lifted from some D&D campaign you don't care about. Oh wait oops this is supposed to be a pitch. Um…)

I thought the other world was weird the first time I went there. A ball of fire that floats in the sky? Huge lakes called "oceans" a bajillion miles across? Flaming weird.

Now I'm here again, only this time there's these humans all acting like they know me? I wanna go back to the regular world, but first, I don't wanna miss out on fighting the bad guys that are here! I'll beat 'em on my first try, I bet, and then I'll figure out how to go home. It's a good thing I'm invincible!

Defeating the King is important, sure, but the time you spent with your friends… You won't forget that time just because of the finale.

You've seen how deeply Isabeau cares about defending others—so much so that he left behind his home and his job to come with Mirabelle.

You've watched Bonnie, who was once so despondent after their sister was frozen, gain the resolve to take action and save her.

You've observed the rare smiles that Odile gives when she learns something new—whether it's about Vaugarde or about the people around her.

You've been there as Mirabelle found the confidence to not only accept the responsibility she's been given, but accept the help she's been offered.

Has the journey meant as much to them as it has to you? You hope so. You want them to remember these things too. You want them to remember you. That you were there. That you see them.

You look at the leaf you've chosen, and wish…
