The Meeting
-----------------
She walked through the dimly lit forest. Blond curly hair bouncing and flowing with every step her purple sneakers took. Chestnut eyes hidden from sight behind long lashes. She wore a pink tank top, with blue jean shorts that hugged her body nicely to stop the catching of stray branches.
Walking out in the wonder of nature, she thought of her parents. She did love them, but did not understand why they thought the forest was dangerous, when they themselves go to crazy and dangerous jobs every day. Her mother, for example, looked like a goddess. Blond hair and light blue eyes glow in summer, and shimmer in the winter. But she worked at a bar downtown, bringing in all the crazy drunk people. Her father was a tall, respectable man with his short brow curly hair and chestnut eyes that glistened like a fresh melted chocolate bar. He worked at a construction company telling people what to do and where to place the support beams. Though thanks to their jobs, she was able to go out to the forest so often.
"Another day, another place to find and adventure." She said out loud. Her eyes closed as she breathed in the fresh tree sent in the air.
"Now the real question is what to adventure for?" Opening her eyes, she looked back and forth analysing her surroundings.
So far, she was in a small clearing, a bit farther out than she usually goes. But she was not worried. She overheard her mother and father talking about getting more hours for that night. She did not understand what they meant, but somehow knew that meant more time exploring.
"Well, let's pick a place to start." She closed her eyes ones again, and she began to spin
"Eeny." One spin.
"Meeny." Second spin.
"Miny." Third spin. She was getting dizzy by now.
"Moe." She almost fell as she snapped her eyes open, throwing her body out of a ballet twirl arm, pointing in a random direction.
"Humm, southwest it is then." She stated. Right pointer finger on her chin.
She began to walk, finding all sorts of things on the way, a stick that looked like a wand; a bolder that looked like a cat sleeping in the sunlight, and many more.
Suddenly she heard a howl. It was close, but not too close for flight response to kick in.
"A wolf!?" She stated in awe." They're not native to this region, are they?" She added, face showing confusion, taking a few steps in the sounds direction.
The howl started once again. This time, it sounded louder and more sad.
"It sounds so sad," She said quietly, a look of worry on her face. Her mind started fighting itself. On one side, it wanted her to go home from the danger her family preached. The other side wanted to help the poor thing for who knew what the wolf was sad for. Finally after a while of standing there conflicted she made up her mind to go for the wolf, because even if it might be dangerous, her kind and adventurous heart would not let her run from something in need.
Another howl sounded more pained and tired.
"I hope to the forest guardian. I don't regret this." As she ran towards the sound.
