Amy took a breath and looked at herself in the mirror, she was wearing a white blouse with lace, along with a rosey red skirt and light pink socks that reached her ankles with her hair tied back into a ponytail. She let out a dreamy sigh and pulled out some lipstick that was the color of coral. She applied it to her lips, making sure she got it on right, cleaned up some of her mistakes with a q-tip and she was done. She let out a ‘pop’ with a satisfied grin on her face
She walked over to her closet and pulled out a pair of black dress shoes. She dug in her closet a bit more and found the one thing she really wanted to find. A simple light blue dress with an open back, made with hedgehog back spines in mind. Amy herself however did not have back spines so logically she wouldn't need to buy a specially made dress for that accommodation. Well the reason she had it was simple actually.
It wasn't for her. They were actually a gift to someone. Someone who was very special to her. She let out a wistful sigh as she placed the dress on her bed bench and put on her shoes. Grabbing the dress again she walked over into her kitchen. Placing the dress neatly into her picnic basket she walked over to the counter, taking out some strawberry shortcake she bought the other day. She took the slice, put it into a container and placed it into the basket. After she put the strawberry shortcake away she poured some apple juice into a portable bottle meant to keep it cool and put that into her basket too.
She grabbed her picnic basket and, with a small sigh. Walked out her door and into the outside world.
The sun was shining. She could hear birds chirping in the distance and the local wild flowers bloomed with a wondrous display of colors, each and all of them different shades. Amy began to walk down the road from her house leading towards the nearby woods. A subtle wind breezing through the air as it did so. She closed her eyes as her legs led her to where she needed to go. She could tell already that this was going to be a great day.
That's when she suddenly almost fell face first onto the ground, a blazing speed had almost knocked her off her course.
Amy managed to stop her falling and, after making sure nothing fell from her basket. Looked at the culprit and was not at all surprised when she saw a blue hedgehog looking rather apologetically at her.
“Sorry Amy!” Sonic said as he walked over to her with a nervous laugh. “I didn't see you there at first!” He looked down at the ground trying to see if she had dropped anything. Amy let out a small chuckle.
“It's fine Sonic.” she replied. Dusting off her skirt. She looked back up, noticing that Sonic was looking at her with a small bit of confusion. She turned her head a bit.
“What's wrong?”
Sonic looked surprised for a second before he flashed a small smile. “Oh! Nothing, it's just I was curious why you were dressed up.” he chuckled. Amy looked down at her clothing before she flashed a smile of her own.
“Oh? Do you like it?” she did a small faux twirl of her skirt “I decided to have a picnic today and in my opinion, A picnic is never complete if you aren't dressed your best” she did a quick peace sign to which she watched as Sonic let out a small giggle in response.
After a moment or two, Sonic asked her something “so, where is this picnic of your’s happening if I may ask?” he cocked his head to the side as he asked this. Amy simply began to walk forwards in response.
“Oh, in the forest,” she answered. She knew as she said that Sonic no doubt paled at her answer.
“..the forest?” Sonic asked. Beginning to sprint to catch up with the pink hedgehog, he looked at her with concern visible in his emerald green eyes “Amy, there has been a lot of Eggman activity near those woods. I’ve even seen a few of them in it itself” she knew from the tone of voice he held he was going to try to persuade her not to go. “Are you sure you wanna go there?”
Amy gave him her most earnest smile she could “don’t worry Sonic, I'll be fine.” she turned and continued to walk into the woods “besides the spot I picked out has had absolutely no Eggman activity there!” she turned back to give a quick look at once again flashing her greatest smile she could “so no worries!”
Sonic gave her a very nervous and apprehensive look before he gave her a small unsure smile “be safe out there Amy.” he asked her as Amy walked into the forest path.
“I will!” she shouted back in response.
To say the forest was beautiful would be an understatement. From the way the light of the sun bleeds through the leaves on the trees leaving the ground in cascading lights and shadows. To the moss covering the ground. To the flowers dotting around the forest floor to the way she could see and hear the birds tweeting so much clearer now. To say she picked a good day would be an understatement.
After a few minutes of walking she finally found the spot she wanted. The nearby trees give way to a meadow absolutely covered in flowers of all kinds from tulips to peonies to violets to even a few rose bushes dotted around. Amy walked towards the middle of the clearing, taking out her picnic blanket as she did so. Laying it gently on the ground. She sat down and pulled out her strawberry shortcake and apple juice. She knew it would be a few minutes, maybe even an hour or two until she got there. But she was content to wait. She took out her fork and took a piece of her cake.
To say the strawberry shortcake was good would be an absolute understatement on your end. As Amy took a bite she felt the richness of the cream and berries along with the sweetness of the cake itself melt into her mouth with a wonderful unexpected glee. The way the soft whipped accentuated the taste of both the cake and the fruit made her go absolutely crazy when she was younger due to the taste. She knew even as she got older that no matter what foods she tried or how they’d taste. It would never beat the taste of strawberry shortcake.
Though she would be lying if she said the apple juice wasn't good too as she took a swig of the liquid. The sweetly savory taste washed down her delectable cake with ease. She let out a small breath after her drink. Of course the person she was waiting for still wasn't there yet so she still had to wait. Thankfully she still had plenty of cake.
By the time it was almost sunset. She had finished her cake and her apple juice was almost out. She let out a sigh of approval at her delectable meal. Content to now wait for her to arrive. Which she knew would be roughly any minute now. Though she supposed now she probably should have brought a book or something.
Oh well she thought as she looked at the surrounding flowers. At least she wouldn't be bored by the scenery.
Then. something floated down from the sky. The metallic blue of the metal contrasts with the shining red of the eyes. The sleek features to the metal bolt of the nose to the compression in the chest to the sharpness of the hands to finally the shoe-like feet only allowed most to identify it as Metal Sonic. Something that most people only knew as Eggman's right hand and most infamous creation. Something many flew from in only terror once upon a time. Even Amy herself at one point.
Not anymore however. That wasn't even going over how she knew for a fact the being in front of her wasn't just a robotic version of Sonic.
It-no she was..
“Nori!” Amy beamed as she got up and ran over to the robotic hedgehog. Her hands went over Nori’s shoulders. Ignoring the cold touch she felt as she did so. She felt Nori nervously return the hug in turn. “I knew you’d make it” to which she heard her make a few beeps in turn.
When the two finally broke from their hug Amy found herself only able to look at the new addition to Nori’s face. That being the small eyelashes painted on the sides of her eyes. They weren't the most noticeable thing. It was something that most would easily miss. But knowing Nori. knowing who she really was. It made Amy feel just so… happy knowing she’d done that for herself.
Nori cocked her head to the side and let out a few small bops. Snapping Amy out of her daze.
“Oh! Right, Nori, I have to show you something!” she ran over towards her basket. Nori followed shortly behind her. After a few moments she dug out the dress, wiping off any possible crumbs she proceeded to show it to her.
“Taa Daa! I know you wanted to try more feminine things so I thought ‘maybe she would like a dress’ and I was then like ‘of course she would like a dress!’ and then I-” she noticed how silent Nori had been. She looked over at her. “Nori?”
Nori was looking at the dress. Her red eyes stared intensely at it as she did so. Her mechanical hands went over to grab it as Amy let it go. For a few seconds Nori stood there. Staring at the piece of blue fabric in her hands. Before she looked back up at Amy. making a series of beeps that took a second for Amy to realize what they meant
‘Can you help me try it on?’
Amy felt the corners of her lips go into a smile. “Of course!” she said as she went over to help Nori. After a few seconds the dress was on and Amy got a good look at her.
From the way the dress hung off Nori’s body it was clear the dress was both made with organics in mind and might have been made for someone taller as well. From the way it looked like it could slip off her if she happened to make a wrong move. Not that Amy cared at all. After all, not only was that something that could be easily fixed. At that moment, Looking at how Nori’s eyes seemed to figuratively and literally light up as she looked down at the dress. Slightly twirling it around in pure awe.
To Amy it was like Nori was the most beautiful thing in the entire world at that moment.
Nori looked up at Amy and, after a moment of eye contact, ran up too and hugged her tight to which Amy returned it. After a second the two looked at each other. Nori slowly moved her head closer. Amy realized what Nori was trying to do and. After a moment of hesitation. Bridged the gap between them.
It was a strange feeling. To feel cold metal against her lips and feel nothing but warmth from within her. The kiss lasted a second or two before the two of them broke contact. Simply just looking at each other for a moment.
“Do you…” Amy began. Trying to find the words. “Do you want to look at the stars?” she asked. Waiting for Nori’s response.
Nori lightly shook her head after a moment. Grabbing Amy’s hand in her’s. For the rest of the night the two of them watched the stars above them. Though, in Amy’s opinion her Girlfriend was the brightest star of them all that night.
