Chapter Text
I look at the seats scattered around spawn. It was devastating. The rifts located around it made it look from a cozy beginning to the end of the world. A massive difference to when I had come here the first time as an emperor, or even as a child. It made me quite sad. I felt like holding a prayer for the prosperity of the empires, to stop the war and repair spawn, when I hear a rustle in the bushes.
An abnormally tall, blue-skinned woman comes out. I recognise her as the Ocean Queen, Lizzie, I believe.
She looks at me, and I look at her. Our gazes hold for a few seconds, and during this I slowly start reaching for my sword. When I grasp the hilt, I slowly start pulling my sword out of its scabbard, and as I see her reaching for her own sword, I swiftly finish pulling mine out, and swing it straight at her stomach, that being the easiest place to reach with our height difference. It nicks her ever so slightly, making her purple blood start seeping out slowly, staining part of her dress a deep indigo colour. She frowns at that, and sends an attack in return of my own. Her attack narrowly misses me, and eventually the fight becomes less of a fight and more of a dance.
We both launch attacks at each other, one at a time, aiming for the most damaging spot in order to end this fight. After several traded blows, I end up messing up, which caused me to stumble. After seeing me stumble, she goes to hold the tip of her sword, making it like a plank, and uses that to push me over fully. She ended up pushing me backwards, directly into a chair, which I hadn't noticed behind me during our fight, causing me to trip up, and I fly back onto the floor with the combined force of Lizzie and the chair. My wings splay down around me, softening my fall slightly, but not enough to prevent the shock of the fall.
Once I had recovered from the shock, which had only taken a second or two, I go to move forward and lunge, a desperate attempt to kill her and end our duel, when I see something. Something I hadn’t seen in years. Mine and my old friend's name, etched into the rock.
Scott + Lizzie.
Huh.
I hadn’t thought about mine and Lizzie’s friendship in years, probably since we had stopped hanging out. It was strange, I was thinking about my old friend Lizzie when about to face my death, ironically at the hands of someone called Lizzie.
---Years ago---
I had been walking alongside my parents, going to another empire to secure a business deal, when I heard it, a noise in the bushes. I look up and scan the area. T here . The bushes moved slightly, signifying someone’s presence. I look at my parents, who in the time I had been focused on the bush had moved quite far away from me, apparently unaware I wasn’t with them, and move toward the bushes.
When I reach the quivering bush, I peel back leaves until I see the cause. A young girl, likely around my age actually, shivering in the winds coming from Rivendell. She looks up at me, her pink hair parting to reveal dark blue eyes. They look at me in desperation, and she mumbles something out. “Please may you help me… I feel like I’m going to freeze here…”
I nod at her timid request, and pull off the cape I was wearing in order to wrap her, to keep her warm until she found where she needed to go. She peered at the cape, awestruck, and reached out a hand to take it. I kept it out, within her reach. She clutched the cape tight for a few seconds, before wrapping it around herself. The shivering slowed down almost immediately, and I could almost sense her gratitude. She looks up at me again, and uttered out “I’m Lizzie, what’s your name?”
I smile politely, and say “I’m Scott! Nice to meet you!”
