Chapter Text

Two Time usually kept a smile plastered on their face, regardless of how obviously fake it may have been. Even during rounds, they showed nothing more than slight discomfort at their fellow survivor’s screams. Yet, late at night, every so often, one could hear the muffled sounds of crying coming from their room. They’d never wanted to talk about it; so the others had stopped asking. That is, until a new killer arrived.

Most of the round had been normal. Two Time and Chance had stuck together, doing generators around the map. They’d heard Elliot mention something about a new killer as he passed by, but they didn’t think anything of it. They and Chance had just kept doing what they usually did. But now? All the generators were done. There wasn’t much else left to do, other than hide and wait, or try to fight. That didn’t seem like a good idea, though - Guest and Shedletsky had been some of the first to die. Two Time and Chance could hear Noob’s final screams from their hiding place, and the two shared a glance, knowing they were the only ones left.

Footsteps were rapidly approaching from their left. They had to fight. There was no other option, not anymore. They looked at each other one final time, and Chance nodded to Two Time to start creeping around the wall of their hiding place to hopefully get behind the killer as they went after Chance. Two Time heard the firing of Chance’s gun, the killer’s scream confirming that he’d hit his mark. There was something oddly familiar about the killer’s voice, but Two Time shook off the thought, instead pulling out their dagger and preparing to strike.

They heard Chance’s scream and leaped around the corner, dagger raised… and froze. No. No, no, no, no, no. It couldn’t be. And yet… it was. Two Time saw the clock change to one minute and fifteen seconds as Chance died. They were the last one left. But they couldn’t force themselves to move. They’d killed Azure in a manic fit several years ago. The pain and guilt had haunted them their entire life. And yet, here Azure was, standing right in front of them.

Two Time snapped out of their shock when they respawned. The pain of their wings growing out of their back reminded them that they had a job to do. And that job was survive. They had no need for the dagger. They wouldn’t be able to take the pain of stabbing Azure again. So, they dropped it and ran. Azure’s laughter echoed behind them… but no. No. That wasn’t Azure’s laughter. Azure’s laughter was beautiful, like honey and silk, like water in a desert. This… this wasn’t. This was harsh. Evil. This was not the laughter Two Time had missed so dearly. This was not Azure. This was something else entirely.

That didn’t make it any easier when Two Time was picked up by slimy black tentacles and slammed into a wall. In fact, that made it worse as they were turned around to stare directly into their former lover’s eyes. Two Time couldn’t force themself to look anywhere else. Azure’s eyes were full of anger and resentment. That hurt. Spawn, did that hurt. But something else drew their attention. They looked up and saw Azure's hat. It was the hat. There was a face in Azure’s hat where there most definitely had not been before. That’s when Two Time realized: Azure’s mouth was zipped shut. It wasn’t Azure who they had heard laughing earlier. It was whatever was controlling him. That fueled Two Time with an emotion that they hadn’t felt in this capacity since they had realized how the cult had tricked and used them.

Hate.

Burning, unbridled, and pure. A glorious hate filled with everything Two Time had in them. All the pain. All the guilt. All the love. This was not simply the hate felt by those who had been wronged. This was a divine hatred, something Two Time believed was felt by Spawn himself. Two Time smiled. The manic grin they so often wore during their second life returned. They looked Azure’s hat straight in its eyes, and they smiled. They smiled as one of Azure’s tentacles ripped through their chest. Through their bones. Through their flesh. They smiled, as their world grew darker, as the pain consumed them, as they died wrapped in Azure’s tentacles. Without ever having to look down into their own corpse, they knew one thing for sure. Azure hadn’t left a scratch on their slowing heart.
