It was week two of living with Amber and her family. They were staying for a month so Varian could catch up with them and get to know his family and look for the trial.
It was early hours of the morning, the sun was just peeking out and Nuru had just woken up. She was on her way to the bathroom when she felt something ticklish in her throat. Just as quickly as the feeling appeared it disappeared as she threw up flower petals flecked with spots of blood “oh shit that’s not good”
she bolted into the bathroom to wash out the blood from her mouth. Tears fell hard and fast from amber eyes and she went back and slumped against the door hyperventilating around her….situation. nuru’s thoughts raced but one that stuck out is “ why the fuck am i throwing up flower petals! And what the fuck am I going to tell the others” she sat for what felt like hours ( it was 40 minuets) thinking about how to tell the others and what she was to do about the situation.

Amber woke up hearing muffled weeping. She looked across the room to see Nuru's bed empty. so being the concerned friend she is she went to check on her friend.
Amber knocked on the door “Hey nuru…are you ok? I can hear your crying. Have my siblings done something? How long have you been there? Can I do something to help?”
Nuru felt her face flush red and quickly wiped away her tears “ yeah sorry amber I’m fine” she mumbled she hoped she sounded convincing but she knew she didn’t. Nuru got up from the cold stone floor, slightly shaking and opened the door.
Amber stod back from the door while she stepped back she felt something under her foot. “Ew what’s this?" she bent down and picked up a petal splattered with blood. “ ew why is there a bloody petal no bloody petals on my floor” as she was finishing her thought nuru opened the door. Blue eyes locked with amber ones and nuru started choking on tears again.
Amber broke eye contact, put the pieces together and wrapped nuru is a suffocating hug to the point nuru felt like her ribs were breaking. still nuru couldn’t stop crying, she really wanted to but she couldn't. She felt like a kid again being scolded for breaking her mothers vase and being told “princes don’t cry so wipe your teary eyes because princes don’t cry”
She was pulled out of her thoughts by amber suffocating her more. Then Amber let her go. “ feel better yet or do i need to hug you more” this made nuru bust out laughing so much she choked up more flower petals.nuru looked up expecting to see a horrified look on her friends face to instead see one of concern but nuru could already feel the tears forming in her eyes. “ Hay nuru darling don't cry it will all be fine.. I'm not sure how yet but It will be”
nuru looked at her and smiled. Amber guided her anxiety ridden friend to sit on her bed while they thought on what to do. “ Hey I have an idea we could go to Varian and ask if he knows anything…..yesthatswhatwewilldo.
Nuru didn't hear the last part of what she said. Nuru was too busy admiring how the girl in front of her looked stunning in the early morning light. The golden hue around her made her seem ethereal. And Nuru couldn't help but notice how Amber's ginger locks almost glowed in the light. All Nuru could think was how absolutely breathtaking amber was. “ So yeah what do you think of that plan nuru”. Amber asked curiously. “Hmm..uh yes that sounds wonderful uh we will go see v “ Amber seemed happy with that reply and so the two girls ran off to find Varian not noticing how they were holding hands on the way there.

“ You know Yong I think you’d make an amazing alchemist in time but for now can you pass me that beaker?” “ Do you really think so v?” “Of course I do. now stand back. I don't want this to blow up in your face even if you have goggles on. The two boys were out in the fields working on a new firework for Yong as his plan was too dangerous to do on his own. (The field was under a hill you had to run down to get to so it was the perfect place to experiment on.) The boys watched the firework explode in the air. “It worked, it actually worked!it didn’t explode in our faces either!!!” yong was jumping up and down in Joy and Varian was just as excited as Yong at their firework working how they wanted it to work.

Hugo was working on some new adaptation for olivia. It was supposed to allow her to roll on grass and snow but he couldn't quite manage to work out the kinks with it. Hugo's next course of action was to find Varian and begrudgingly ask him for help.
Hugo found himself in the field varian and Yong were in just in time to see the firework explode. While he would never admit it he wasn't looking at the firework he was admiring how varian looked in the light from the explosion.
Hugo spoke up. “Uh hey freckles could you possibly helpmewithsomething?” Varian jumped and spun around to see Hugo “ oh damn Hugo you scared me and what the flying fuck did you say?” Yong looked up at Varian “ uh nuru say's we're not allowed to use swear words” Varian looked down at his small assistant. “ Shh if you don't tell her I'll buy you more gunpowder” Yong nodded in agreement .
“ Sooo I was asking if maybe…you could..help me with something?” Varian looked surprised then laughed “ did I hear that right. Did glasses over here just ask me for help ~” Hugo turned an unhealthy shade of red and mumbled “shut..up” Varian just laughed “ I'm teasing anyway what did you need help with glasses”
After explaining the problem Varian asked for Two minutes to finish up the fireworks and then he'd help Yong

Varian was just about done and was walking back with Hugo when the pair were ambushed by a panicked amber and an unusually scared nuru. “ hi varian sorry for interrupting…whatever you two are doing. Actually where are you going? Wait, I'll ask about that later.
Uh can we borrow you for a while. Amber was slightly out of breath. I mean her and nuru had just ran down a hill but she was still understandable. “Oh sorry I told Hugo I was going to help him with something “ Varian turned to see his cousin looking pleadingly at him. “ You know what blondy here can wait. Can’t you.” Hugo replied “ yes I'll wait.”
He looked kinda disappointed no one noticed except amber. Amber noticed and Amber shipped it. “ i promise we won't keep him long hugo we just need his help with something”
With that the trio ran off back to Amber's room.

When the trio were in Amber's room NURU started to explain herself and what happened by the end of explaining she was crying into Amber's shoulder. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't milking the crying a little bit just to be in amber's arms. ( not that Nuru liked amber. Definitely not…right??)
The trio sat in silence for a while till Varian spoke up. “ I GOT IT. I KNOW WHAT NURU HAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!” The two looked up at him and Nuru stood up so fast it was like she teleported up right. “ Tell me now I need to know.” she pleaded to her friend. “ right yes… it’s called hanahaki. It’s a disease of unrequited love so you must have a crush on someone. and…your crush probably doesn't like you orrrrrr you are so deep in denial about it that it’s caused this .
silence . Amber's face dropped and she looked almost sad, not that Nuru noticed ( varian did though) “ ok so how do i get rid of it .“ “ oh right it’s easy you just have to tell your crush” silence “ but I don’t know who the hell I have a crush on!!!!!”
more silence “ well i guess you need to figure it out … I can’t help you with that unfortunately,” he gave her a sympathetic look and amber was just lost in thought. “ Can you two leave? I need space… not that i’m trying to kick amber out of her own room!”
“ yeah we’ll leave come on v.” the cousins left leaving nuru to her thoughts.
“ right ok so who on earth could I have a crush on? I know I like girls not boys so I can cross that out." Nuru was pacing up and down, panicking about it.
“ wait I know I’ll make a list “ so that's exactly what she did.
