Notes:

Hellooooo Hi!!! I created this DCA Waterpark AU in January of 2024 and now there’s finally a first chapter for it! I’ve always been in love with themed entertainment especially theme parks and resort so I wanted to take this passion and combine it with my two favorite sillies to make an immersive au with a nostalgic twist for someone who fondly remembers waterparks and fun pool days in their youth. Just because you’ve grown up doesn’t mean your world should be any less exciting and two very smiley pool boys may be just what you need to bring out your inner childhood wonder!

I’ve also been posting artwork of my au on tumblr (sun-e-chips) since 2024 so if you care to see the boys and park in all of its glory please feel free to check it out under my (waterpark au) tag. Anyways thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: Truly Paradise

Chapter Text

Walking amongst the dense, bustle of people in the traffic ridden city, you listen to the sound of heavy beads of raindrops bounce off your nylon umbrella.

Looking up underneath your waterproof canopy you see the last bulb in a row of lights buzz awake. The illuminated billboard brands two familiar silhouettes, ones that you haven’t seen in quite some time. The advertisement reads

Test The Waters,
Your Paradise Awaits!

WOW

Its just now hit how much you really missed this place.

Waterspark Bay, the only waterpark and resort to be entirely run and maintained by animatronics. Today once again the park opens its doors for guests to enjoy a mix of Aztec and Polynesian themed structures and recreation including wave pools, swimming pools, raft rides, waterslides, lazy rivers, and still so much more. While surrounded by the waterparks thrilling robotic staff, visitors are sure to be left with memories that last a lifetime.

And, they sure did just that.

You watch as a young family steps outside their car and begin unpacking their park essentials. Three children race to gather alongside their parents carrying their treasures, you can see they are floaties branding the parks mascots Sun, Moon, and Tiki.

A wave of an emotion that you can’t quite name clocks you in the chest.

The family finishes their preparations and make their way to the parks entrance. The children squeal and exclaim their joy and excitement for the adventure that awaits inside the watery wonderland.

There was a time you too shared that same youthful excitement. Now you’ve come back in hopes that you haven’t outgrown its magic and wonder.

After grabbing your own waterpark bags and a week’s worth of luggage, you take your first steps into the resorts grand atrium and are greeted with the sounds of rushing water and tropical instrumental music.

Looking up, the dome ceiling comes together to a skylight held up by wood beams. Triangle supports, ring along its outside some decorative in varying sizes.

The entire space smells of fresh rain and flourishing vegetation.

The floor of the atrium itself is very reminiscent of ancient ruins, stone sculptures and forms extrude within its gardens, appearing overgrown and thriving with new life and purpose.

Currently you are standing on the second floor of the rotunda and looking over the balcony you see a lush artificial waterfall. You don’t miss how the water spews out of the heads of Aztec feathered serpents, Sun’s motif, decorating the water features top and base.

The whole sight is very beautiful and enchantingly over the top.

“Would you mind taking our picture?”

An older woman in a floral coverup smiles kindly holding out her disposable camera, waterproof by the looks of it. Behind her who you figure the young at heart husband, shoots a friendly wave as a he flip flops to find the perfect spot to pose at the edge of the balcony.

“Of course!” You happily take the camera from her and she walks back to join her partner. You snap two photos from where you’re standing, trying to capture as much of the iconic backdrop as possible. Then you walk closer to get more couple focused shots. “Is this your first time visiting Waterspark Bay?” You ask, taking three more photos before the couple comes up to thank you.

“It is! Henry and I are scoping out fun places to take the grandkids, they’ll be walking before we know it.” They jest, clearly excited to be new grandparents.

The husband who you now know as Henry chimes in with his wife “And we’ve heard wonders about this place in particular from friends! Inside and outside activities for kids, swimming lessons, multiple food spots scattered throughout the park, and they said every resort room has a waterside view!”

The wife smiles and looks to you curious, “What about you honey is this your first time?”

You return her warm smile with a wistful one. “Oh, technically no I came here when I was around ten, the week Waterspark Bay first opened actually.” You hand back their camera, hopeful your slight shakiness goes unnoticed. “But this is my first time returning after all the refurbishments and additions.”

The woman replies, “Well then we both have a lot of sight seeing to get caught up on!” Her genuine happiness and excitement for you is infectious.

You wave the couple off as they head to their dinner reservations. Henry told you, before your vacation is over, to be sure to make your own reservations at the resorts iconic Maya restaurant. He said that the view of the waterpark from there was also supposed to be spectacular.

You hope you’ll be lucky enough to run into them again this week. Now, first things first, you need to get yourself checked in, and the front desk should be located in the lobby.

But, while carrying your luggage and following the balconies edge you pass by the gift shops and can’t help but to stop in and peruse the basic waterpark commodities. You see sunscreen, hats, swim goggles. You chuckle at the merch shirts and their silly taglines,

“Shoot for the Moon and end up at the Lagoon!”

“Rather have fun WITH the Sun at Waterspark Bay!”

You think you just might have to purchase one before you turn in for the day, not that you would be bold enough to wear it out tomorrow but it would definitely make for a nice sleep shirt. After reminding yourself that you still need to get checked in, you put the shirts back on their rack and head off.

One awkward stair descension later you take notice of an elevator on the opposite side that would have been handy for an easier trip. Blocking out the memory of the awkward looks you got dragging your clanky suitcase down two flights of stairs, you carry on, deciding you’ll beat yourself up about it later.

As you walk further into the lobby you see a very enthusiastic desk clerk waving you over.

This is your first time seeing a Tiki animatronic. You remember the park having three mascots but you guess you were never formally introduced to the Tiki bot, or at least you have no memory of them. The bot is definitely designed after Moon’s theming, the platings are colored and textured to mimic wood grains and their body is covered in “carved” Polynesian patterns painted with varying tones of teals and earthy greens. Tiki’s circular faceplate is crowned with what reminds you of a squids head fin, very similar to Moon’s.

You notice the Tiki bots are built without a mouth or voice box but their eyes are big and lit with expression. They are overwhelmingly adorable and you’re now very hopeful that when you return to the gift shop later, you will find a plushie of them there.

The Tiki bot makes another friendly gesture for you to come forward and you refocus your attention and greet them.

“Hi im checking in for - “

You give Tiki your full name and the bot instantly checks you into the system and produces a key card. You reach over to accept the rather decorative card but before you can give your thanks or even ask about your waterpark tickets Tiki slips a band over your wrist and adjusts its sizing. You look over the bulky thing and give the bot a confused look.

Tiki flips the desks computer screen around and a short video plays explaining the parks digital ticket and charging system that is connected with the band. You learn the bands also what shows staff you have access into the park as well as what allows you access into your room.

This is nothing too fancy, you’ve seen it done with theme parks and their resorts before but you’re surprised nonetheless to see it here. But this dawns the question that If this band is supposed to be your key to everything then why do you need a key card?

The Tiki bot appears to have read your mind and nods their head towards the piece of plastic in your hands. Upon closer inspection, you realize this is not a room key card but instead a rewards card with a folded note attached. You open the note to find a handwritten message for your stay at the resort and park.

“Welcome back to Waterspark Bay! We've made some exciting renovations over the years and we're confident that you'll love what you see. We can't wait for you to experience our beloved waterpark all over again and we especially look forward to seeing you make a splash at the pools! Be sure to layer on the sunscreen, after all you’ve got a Spark-tacular vacation ahead!”

Turning your attention back to the rewards card you see that it’s an unlimited tiki bar coupon that lasts for the full duration of your stay.

The Tiki bot takes the coupon from you and taps it on the band, it lights up and sings its delightful jingle, successfully applying the rewards.

Still a little in shock, you bashfully thank the Tiki and start hurrying to your room. You tell yourself because you’re eager to finally drop off your bags.

As you’re walking through the lobby you glance through the glass doors to the waterpark. Outside you can already see some of the more impressive waterslides towering over the trees. You feel small but in the best way possible, how could you ever think you might outgrow such a place. The anticipation has you just as giddy as you were that first day those many years ago.

Connected to the lobby, on either side of the atrium, there are corridors leading into the park’s resort rooms. From what you remember the resort circles the majority of the park, sort of like a C-shape enclosing the front section.

As you steer your luggage down the left corridor, you feel the transition from smooth, polished stone to luxurious nylon carpet. Your staying on Moon’s side the carpet reminds you, its colorful Polynesian pattern zigzagging under your feet.

Stepping into the elevator you press the illuminated 3rd floor button. Once the doors close and the elevator begins to rise, a thought crosses your mind if the note was actually written by Sun and Moon.

You guys became fast friends at the parks debut. They made a shy little kid feel so special, and so happy to have two friends that wanted to include them in everything, like nothing was more important than the three of you racing to be the first to hit every waterslide together.

You find yourself mindlessly holding the note close to your already fluttering heart.

A ding tells you, you have arrived at your floor.

You make your way to room 312.

With a quick scan and audible click you open the door. There’s no need to turn on the lights because the entire room is illuminated by the giant floor to ceiling window looking out into the waterpark.

Dropping your bags you run over to see the view.

Ignoring the massive volcano that takes a up a third of the window, you see sparkling huts, lazy rivers, and slides dancing across the space. In the far left you see the Aztec temple and two shiny new raft rides on either side!

The park has definitely seen some major upgrades since the last time you were here.

It’s so different! literally so much has changed!!!

Your old park had the temple the volcano and the two pools sure, but you only remember their being maybe five slides and one lazy river. Now with what you’re seeing theirs a wave pool, two lazy rivers, two raft rides, four pools and 7, 8, 9, NINE waterslides!!!

And everything is so green!?! Like it’s really green. The entire waterpark is not just covered in tropical trees but a crazy variety of exotic foliage! Lush plants cover so much of the area now compared to back when all it had was palms and modest bushes. The park was beautiful then but now it looks absolutely stunning. And so much other stuff was added too. Those huts you spotted and other decorative structures sit tucked between the pools and waterslides.

Every section of this waterpark looks magnificent. A piece of you misses the nostalgia of the original but you are in such awe that everything looks so revamped and new you can’t help but feel excited for how far Waterspark Bay has come from when they first opened their doors to the public.

After a few more minutes you tear your gaze away from the window and look back into the room.

The scene is very fitting for the Polynesian themed animatronic. The walls are trimmed with bamboo paneling and save for the teal accent wall behind the beds, the room is lined with Hawaiian patterned wallpaper. All the wood furniture is deliberately weathered and stained a deep chestnut brown.

The room features two comfy queen-sized beds with typical white sheets and a tropical leaf design bed runner. Across from the beds sits your TV on top of a glossy dresser connected to a desk.

By the window you have an arching couch with a side table, and across from that a lounge chair next to what you have chosen as your bed.

Walking back towards the entrance to the left you look into the bathroom. It’s a standard resort bathroom with a bathtub-shower, toilet, and double sink vanity.

To the right you’re pleased to see that you are given a microwave and coffee counter and a wardrobe.

You give yourself a moment to take it all in.

The atmosphere feels relaxing and tropical yet very unfamiliar to you.

You remember when you were last here you and your parents stayed in Sun’s Aztec section. You figure now it’s more than likely that that side has gone through some renovations as well.

After reminiscing your families stay in the Aztec suit your thoughts are brought back to your luggage.

Hmmm…

You decide rather than unpack, for now you will just slide your bags into their general places. Your suitcase is set beside the desk, your toiletry bag goes on the bathroom counter, and your waterpark and electronics bags are tossed into the closet.

Yep, totally all put away. You chuckle to yourself how old habits seem to stick around.

You decide to collapse on the bed and recharge for a couple of minutes putting on some tv before thinking through your next move.

Flicking through the different tv networks you settle on the travel channel, right now they’re running a ghost hunting marathon. The thrumming chatter about the locations’ haunted history and the exaggerated shenanigans of the ghost hunters make for the perfect background noise.

You lull your head over the pillow to look out the window again. The volcano still appears fairly close. You can faintly see the sides of the two slides but unfortunately you’re not facing the right direction to actually see the people coming down them. At least you do get a nice view of the water cascading down it.

Back then, the waterslides’ intimidating height overwhelmed you, but Sun and Moon persuaded you into braving the scary feat.

Your condition was that Moon would race you in the other tube, and Sun would be waiting for the two of you in the bottom pool to declare the winner.

Thinking back, Moon definitely won that race but gave you the victory.

You can’t deny, those two are what really made this place feel magical.

A warm fuzzy feeling blankets you. You can’t remember a time that you felt so happy and wanted.

The volcano mists and sputters delightfully, you imagine it’s saying “welcome back old friend”.

After some time of looking out the window an empty feeling urges you to sit up and scan over those tiki huts. You lean closer to confirm one of those is indeed a bar.

There is, and it looks like there’s snack bars too! Some food doesn’t sound too awful of an idea right now, and maybe it would ease your nerves to walk around some more.

You turn down the tv and change into your outdoor cloths. You’re not planning on getting in the water tonight, telling yourself that you will just enjoy some good food and exploring.

You put on your hat and shoes and are ready to head out!

Stepping through the glass doors, outside the lobby It’s already mid afternoon. The park has already wound down fairly, some parents are catching their last bits of sun and a few couples are straggling around here and there. You can faintly hear a couple of kids in the distance shouting about taking advantage of their being a shorter wait on the waterslides.

Trying to orient yourself, you don’t feel lost for too long because you spot a young couple joining your path with some tropical refreshments. They’re very kind to point you in the direction of the food and beverages. You’re later very grateful to them because you find it easy to get mixed up in the splitting pathways sheltered with tall palms and bamboo.

The smell of grilled food and fresh fruit only hurry your hungry pattered steps. Ahead there’s two huts, one solely for fruity alcoholic drinks and the other, the one in which you’re current walking to, a bar & grill.

You place yourself in line behind a large family that’s working on gathering their order. While waiting you look up and read the huts hanging menu, it lists; Poke bowls, Nachos, Fish tacos, Musubi…

Some commotion behind you breaks you from your starved concentration.

“ HEY! ” a voice shouts.

In the distance, a tall figure leans over one of the bridges arching over the lazy river.

The familiar being resembles yellow carved stone, with markings appearing hand painted with vibrant hues of turquoise, orange, and red. Decorative symbols reflecting Aztec design. The feathered serpent rays give way to your realization that that figure is Sun.

He visibly brightens when the two of you lock eyes, then his attention unfocuses seeming to remember something.

Sun, taking a couple steps back, widens his stance and bends forward, cupping his hands to his mouth and projects.

“THATS MY WIFE!” His voice carries, catching every ear.

The announcement reaches you as well as it does everyone else in a 50 mile radius.

The shock and panic tears your feet away from the floor, scattered blurred faces watch as you sprint off to heavens knows where.

You about entirely forgot.

Forgot attending the first official event hosted by Waterspark Bay.

Forgot playing a reenactment of the ceremony and celebration with your new vacation friends.

Forgot the silly nicknames that you had given to the both of them.

Forgot the stupid, stupid, nickname you had given yourself!

Why, why just why did they have to remember that of all things.

You don’t see Sun leap over the bridge’s railing nor do you see him jog over to where you were moments ago, looking just as confused amongst the ditched public.

Nearing the bend around the restrooms another familiar body steps out, one with wood textured platings, carved and painted with Polynesian patterns. A crescent face crowned with a head fin turns in your direction. The brown and teal mascot is unmistakable.

Equally surprised eyes meet yours and the next second all you see is a streak of his red swim trunks as you dive into the nearest concealing foliage.

You take a moment to breathe. You’re shaken, your fight or flight still very much kickin! You just need a moment to process everything and collect yourself. Maybe if by some miracle Moon passes by you, you can hurry back to your room and figure out where to go from there.

During this trip you figured you would likely see Sun and Moon, give them a wave maybe even take a picture together. But this all has sparked a bunch of memories and emotions in you that your not quite sure your ready for.

Overhead, some rustling and a shadow peaking over throws your not so brilliant plan out the window.

“There you are!” Moon steps around and kneels down to your eye level. “We thought we spotted your name in the checked-inn feed“ Reassuring eyes trail over your still shaking form. Moon gives you a gentle, curious smile while you’re internally debating on making another run for it.

You’re not given the luxury of that choice.

Behind you, two robotic hands find your sides and you are hoisted up into the arms of a very sunny animatronic.

“Gotcha!”

Once again gleaming bright eyes meet yours and you are danced around in a swinging circle. The sound of his laugh fills you with a rush of memories and longing for a time long past, when your joy for the world was overflowing and hope filled. This feeling has found you again, and you wish for it to never let you go.

Your spinning world begins to slow and you reach out to hold onto your anchor. He smiles at you, before opening his mouth to deliver a playful scolding.

“Well, as fun as that was, it’s worth mentioning that we have a fairly strict no running policy in place.” Sun’s voice is teasing and holds no sternness.

“But I’ll let it slide since you have been gone for quite some time.” He says with a wink.

Sun continues to hold you as your vision stills. You see Moon standing up from your not so concealing hiding spot to walk over and join in on the reunion. His eyes squint in Suns direction for a moment, then suppressing a chuckle he regards the two of you.

You look back towards Sun and notice a recognizable shape that is indeed your hat, adorning his rays. Moon’s hand reaches behind and plucks the recovered item from its place. You hadn’t even noticed it came off during your little run in.

Sun pays the hat ordeal no mind.

“I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled we were to see your name pop up in the reservation system, since then Moon and I have been greatly anticipating your arrival! We originally planned on greeting you at the front doors but there was that issue of not really being sure what time you would be arriving.”

Moon, now seeming more settled than his sunny counterpart adds, “After we saw you checked-in we were heading to the resort hoping to run into you.”

Sun gives you cheerful look, making no effort to hide his teasing.

“Not really expecting to run after you though.”

Ah yes the embarrassment is returning now.

You cover your face and try to shove Sun’s away. He lets you but is unable to hold back his muffled laughter. You feel your hair being pulled back and a slight pressure settling on top of your head. It’s your hat. Though slightly lopsided, the familiar wheight is welcomed. Moon gives you a “your welcome nod” and shoots Sun a rather insisting look.

Sun then leans over and allows your legs to slide to the floor, setting you down gently and slowly releasing your back. Afterwards you catch him beginning to fidget with his metal cuff, whether because he is hesitant to let you go or is just still reeling back from his excitement you’re not sure.

You fix your hat, then bringing your hands together, you motion for a time out. The water boys give you their full, curious attention.

Not a minute passes before your pause is broken by Suns nervous impatience.

“Is this because I called out to you?”

Moon froze in astonishment, looking like he had solved a case with the killer still in the room.

He slowly turns his flabbergasted face to Sun. “That’s what I heard?!?”

The two of them quickly huddle, talking amongst themselves. By their body language you’d think they’re trying to have a serious conversation, but their playful bantering is very telling. At least for a minute the attention is away from you.

Sun defends himself. “I always wanted to say it and they were right there.” He nods in your direction, back still facing you.

“Sun I could hear you all the way from the splash pad.” Moon scoffs and shakes his head. “And since when did you want to say that?”

“Since ten minutes ago when I stepped onto the bridge I thought it would be hilarious in a charming sort of, call their name and we reunite and embrace, sort of moment.”

Moon doesn’t even try to hide his unbelieving laugh. “Sun this is a waterpark not an airport.”

And a resort! I see people do it all the time, plus both scenes have suitcases involved.”

Moon has a (we both know you are just making reasons up now to cover your very poorly executed last minute idea) gaze.

You have the feeling this little reunion didn’t go the way either three of you had planned out in your head.

Shit, you were so nervous about this potential situation you convinced yourself that the boys likely forgot about you so you didn’t get your hopes up too high, and now your completely unprepared for how to even begin such a re-introduction.

What about starting by saying, (let’s plan to meet for a meal so we can talk and get caught up in each other’s lives?) That’s something adults do right?

Sun walks in front of you and squats to eye level breaking you from your thoughts. He’s posed like a middle school football coach and when he speaks it’s like he’s trying to sound like one.

Sun speaks with encouraging instruction, “Hey, you with me?”

You’re bewildered but nod anyway.

“Okay you and me, we’re going to tackle this correctly” Without breaking eye contact he waves dismissively in Moons direction. “Don’t bother looking at him, look at me, he doesn’t really watch live action anyway, but that’s beside the point. So here’s the plan.”

Sun, now with karate hands, goes on to explain (and gesture) his elaborate play.

“First the revelation” Making a V shape with his fingers, he points between yours and his eyes. Meaning the part of realizing you have found each other.

“Next the rush” Sun’s arms mime a jog, which really means running towards your person.

“Then the Declaration ” AKA the exclamation to one another. You shiver already having flashbacks.

“And finally the spinning embrace!” He wraps his arms around himself very proud of the plan, he’s all smiles watching for your response.

You laugh but you’re shaking your head pleading no.

Sun knows but he acknowledges it as a yes.

Resting his hands on your shoulders choosing to be oblivious to your plea, the bright yellow and teal bot of suffering tells you. “We got this, there’s no backing out now!”

You feel as though you have been recruited to the hallmark army. All the while Moon stands a safe distance away, shaking his head in the background.

Before you know it, Sun has jogged behind some bamboo readying for the scene. Another moment and he emerges from the tall brush.

The ball is in play.

First he pretends to look around before you go through the locking eyes bit; easy enough, you think.

Then comes the dramatics, Sun bringing up his hands to palm away his happy flowing tears. You don’t recall their mechanics being able to do that, but you guess with them being water animatronics it makes sense that they have the ability to control the waters retention and disposal in their shells as they please.

Sun’s theatrics continue to demand your attention, he calls to you, thankfully this time saying your actual name. But there seems to be a catch. Judging by his slow motion running you get the hint that he’s waiting for you to call back out to him. At this point you’re left with no other option.

Sun continuing the Baywatch run at a crawling pace, doesn’t stop until you cave. After some laughter you comply. You call back out to Sun, opening up your arms in welcome. He joyously comes running, lifting and spinning you once, finally setting you down to lean on your shoulder so the two of you can give Moon your cheesiest smiles.

Moon, with the straightest face he can hold, mimes snapping a photo.

Delighted, Sun straightens up gesturing to his lunar counterpart, “Okay now you.”

The thought of having to go through that again turns your face white.

Moon catches this and motions for you to hurry quickly behind him before Sun can scar you anymore than what he’s already put you through.

You, more than happy to oblige, make your escape allowing Moon to shield you. Sun, hands now finding support on his hips, begins laughing at the sight of the two of you clearly having enough of his frivolous antics.

Moon, keeping his hands up to warn the wild thing to stay put, leans back and reassures you that Sun’s not usually this shameless of an extrovert. He then reaches back and tossles your hair.

“The Tikis’ said you were in line to get some food, go, we’ll snag you tomorrow morning. By then fly boy here should have romcom scenes off the mind and out of his system.”

You mouth the words thank you and sneak off while Moon keeps Sun distracted. Behind you, you can hear the boys playfully tussling in the pathway. You think that whole interaction went rather well all things considered.

It takes you maybe fifteen  minutes to receive your fresh order of pizza and to be on your way back to the resort. Walking along the now empty pathway you watch as the waterpark transitions from its daytime rush of activity to its serene nighttime theme.

Faintly you hear the sounds of bright laughter drift across the pool area from a couple of young stragglers soaking up the last of their days fun. Some adults are now make their way to the tiki bars for some tropical refreshments and after-hour socializing. You feel the air begin to unwind and dip into a different buzz of energy.

When you get back to your room, your surprised to see your bed remade and a few items sitting at its edge.

You set your pizza and drink down on the desk and curiously inspect the mysterious gifts.

It seems Sun and Moon had the Tikis’ bring you quite the bundle; an on theme Aztec bottle of sunscreen, a wish you were here card, and a T-shirt. The adorably folded bunny towel animal is a nice touch too. You move it to the couch and gently set it down so you can keep it looking nice. You go to pick up the T-shirt as well but as it unravels, another shirt falls on the mattress. Upon inspection you realize these are the two shirts you were looking at earlier. You’re very surprised to say the least. How did they know?!

You pick up and read the back of the card.

“Heard from a little Tiki that you browsed the gift shop! Here’s something from us to show our appreciation for Indulging in Sun’s envisage. Hope it’s to your liking :) “

Mystery solved.

You’re still trying to process it all. You have smiled, ran, and laughed more this evening alone than you have in this past year. The water boys looked good, great even! They seem to be handling this whole park and responsibilities thing with a stride while still having fun and genuinely enjoying what they do. If you hadn’t known them you would have presumed they were just some lucky mascots that get to play around the park all day, you would have never guessed that they alone run and operate all of Waterspark Bay, management and finances included. They do have the Tikis’ for majority of the customer service and maintenance labor but still, you can only imagine how much work it takes between the two.

This knowledge isn’t hidden from the public but it’s sure not advertised, most visitors probably don’t even realize they’re taking their family photos with the owners and CEO of the resort and park. Even more the reason why you’re so surprised they made time for you, you still have butterflies in your stomach wondering what tomorrow will look like.

You tuck the card into the nightstand drawer and figure eating your slices of pizza and sipping your favorite drink will help settle your nerves, at least enough to get some sleep.

You pull the rolling desk chair out next to the bed and sit criss cross on it placing your dinner in your lap, the ghost marathon is still running and they’re investigating a haunted bed and breakfast. You sip your chilled beverage now poured in a small clear plastic cup filled with ice from the floors amenity ice machine. After every sip you happily chew on a crunchy ice cube before setting your drink back down on the nightstand. Your first slice of pizza doesn’t stick around for too long nor does the second as you watch the ghost hunters communing with the spirit box. The static chitters out some vague sounds and the text on screen reads “mist, gore, smother“ yeah.. your not sure you heard those words but it’s still quite entertaining. Probably for the best this episode isn’t too spooky so you don’t get disturbed right before you go to bed.

Three commercial breaks later you finish up your meal, grab your pajamas, and head to the bathroom to rinse off in the shower. You get out smelling of coconut and plumeria flowers. You let out a content sigh, Something about a hotel shower always washes your stress away. After turning on the hair dryer and clearing the condensation from the mirror, you towel off the remaining droplets from your body and slip into your soft and cozy pajamas.

You open the bathroom door, leftover steam escaping as you step back into your cool room. You rush to turn the lights off and crawl into the beds white tight fitted sheets. You reach for the remote and turn off the tv before resting your head on the pillow with your now mostly dry and fluffy hair. You tell yourself nothing beats this feeling of comfort.

Rolling over to face the window with your curtains still drawn back you take in one final look at Waterspark Bay.

The night lights are beautiful. Each palm tree is illuminated with creamy yellows while the low ground plant beds are dusted with tranquil teals. Faintly you can hear the ambiance music has switched over to sleepy rhythmic drumming , settling itself seamlessly within the environment. Your conscious already begins to drift off to blissful sleep.

This place truly is paradise.
