Work Text:
You remember the first time you saw him. You watched him from your window, admiring the way he pranced around in the courtyard with the other fae that resided nearby. You felt almost trapped in your tower, wanting nothing more than to join the lovely fairies down below.
Especially him.
Him, with his dark curls and his sparkling eyes. There was mischief in his eyes, but no malice. There was excitement and wonder and you were trapped. Trapped in this tower. A princess who had nobody to confide in.
Ever since the rising of the fae and them joining your kingdom, there had been talks of marrying you off to someone to strengthen the hold your father, the king, had on this land. Marrying his only daughter would be the perfect way to make sure the fae wouldn’t rebel and take over. You had to marry someone who had power.
The thing was, you were enamored with the thought of living a life of adventure. Marrying some stuffy lord from another kingdom would only ruin all your dreams. Whenever you looked out at the courtyard filled with the fairies, you knew you wanted to be with them.
When you finally met Syd, you knew that you were enamored by everything he stood for. He came to you one night, during the full moon. You were looking out at it, basically crying for the moon. He could feel the sadness emanating from your aura, and it tugged on his heartstrings. He floated up to your window, sitting on the sill.
“Gorgeous night, hm?” He asks, his voice so soft.
“Y-yes, it is.”
He looks at you and you smile. There’s a magical feeling that crosses between the two of you, almost cementing this friendship. His wings flutter in the moonlight; iridescent and glowing. It was like he was trying to show off in a subtle way.
“Would you like to see the moon a little closer?”
His offer has you feeling so excited. You’ve never done anything daring like this in your entire life. You’re almost trembling as you take his hand. Syd smiles sweetly, noticing your apprehension of what's to come.
“Don’t worry,” he whispers. “I won’t let you fall.”
The sound of his voice is so soothing to you. You feel like you could truly trust him, but there was still this part of you that knew that doing something like this could mean a tarnish on your reputation. If someone saw you fraternizing with the fae, you surely would get quite the lecture from your father.
Yet, you let your heart decide on this. You take his hand and Syd helps you fly up closer to the moon.
With it in view and the land so down below you, you felt like you were free for the first time in your life. You reached for the moon, and Syd laughed softly. His hand outstretched with yours and he leaned in to whisper in your ear.
“It’s almost like we could reach out to touch it, isn’t it?”
There’s a warmth that blossoms in your chest at his words. You want to touch the moon, even if the notion of doing so is silly and you know it’s impossible. But when you’re floating in the air with Syd holding you, something about this makes you feel like anything could be possible. He holds you close in his arms, allowing you the wonderful sensation of you floating in the air.
“On a night like this,” he whispers. “It feels like we can float forever.”
You smile. “It really does.”
Before long, he helps you back into your bedroom. Your heart feels fragile; it feels like it could break with a little sadness. But when Syd leans in and cups your cheeks, it skips a beat only to restart and pound in your chest. He kisses you softly, almost like you are made of the most precious material in this world and kissing you any harder would make you shatter.
“A beautiful princess,” he whispers. “Princess, waiting, locked away, her tower is dark.”
You cling to him. “Save me, Syd.”
He caresses your cheek. “I’ll be back. Let me figure something out for us.”
With a heavy heart, you watch as he flutters away. You worry you may never see your fae lover again. In your mind’s eye, he is so breathtaking; transcending all beauty. You lay on your bed, clutching your chest.
Is this what true heartache feels like? You come to realize you’ve never felt this before. It hits you like a ton of bricks. And for the following days that follow into the next few weeks, you are almost inconsolable.
Your mother and father send for a nurse to come take care of you, but even she knows that you are suffering from something that isn’t necessarily physical. You’re suffering from heartache and nobody knows what to do.
Every night, you stare out your window. You wait for your love to come back. You see all the other fairies, but Syd is nowhere to be found. You remember he said he would come back, but what if he found someone else in the meantime.
This is when the letters start arriving. They happen upon your pillow. You find them when you retire to your bedchambers in the evening.
Written on scraps of paper and scrolls, you find love letters and romantic poetry dedicated to you. They are from Syd. He talks about a life far away from any kingdom, which makes you dream of peace. You dream of falling in love.
Then one night, Syd appears at your window. You take his hand and he glides through the air, fluttering his beautiful wings just for you. His eyes seem to sparkle in the moonlight.
“I haven’t abandoned you,” he whispers before kissing you. “I had to make sure everything was ready for you.”
“Ready for me?” You ask, confused.
Syd nods, a smile spreading on his beautiful face. It makes the corners of his eyes crinkle. “Yes, now go pack your things.”
You’ve heard of the fae kidnapping before. In fact, this was ingrained in your very DNA. You weren’t supposed to trust them. But when you look into Syd’s eyes, you know that he’s the one you want to be in love with.
Call it young love, call it madness within you, call it whatever you wanted to. But you were in love with the fairy that flutters with you in his arms.
“Pack?” You ask, still confused.
He laughs and you know for a fact that this is the laugh you want to hear for the rest of your life. “Silly me, didn’t I tell you? I found our home.”
Our home.
Now your heart was really pounding in your chest. This was the promise of breaking free. This was your ticket out of this kingdom and out of your miserable arranged marriage. The last thing you wanted was to live a life where everything was dictated and chosen for you.
“Home…okay, let me pack.”
He brings you to your room, helping you get together some clothing, some mementos and some other necessities. You pack it up in a suitcase, and then you sit at your desk. Syd helps you compose a letter, allowing your parents the knowledge of what happened.
Then when everything is said and done, he takes your hand and you two float in the air. He helps you glide through the air with a bit of magic, and you really feel like you’re flying now. This was the most free you’ve ever felt in your life.
Your laughter carries in the air as you float around, enjoying the sensations of being high off the ground. You clutch your suitcase, holding it close to you. Syd watches you with pure love in his eyes.
You look like an angel this way. Your beautiful white gown shines in the moonlight, illuminating you. The magic that surrounds you to keep you afloat has this iridescent shine to you, much like Syd’s wings. The two of you fly towards a forest that’s far away from your kingdom.
Once back on the ground, he guides you through thick brush and thicket to where a little cottage stands in the clearing. You gasp as you notice it, it’s aura so inviting to you. Syd leans in close and kisses your cheek.
“This is what I’ve been preparing for us.”
Your eyes widen as you look at the beautiful cottage. He leads you to it, opening the door. It’s small but it’s so cozy. For a princess like you, it’s not at all what you’re used to.
Syd guides you from room to room, and you look at everything through a different perspective. A snug little kitchen but it’s big enough to bake and cook with the one you love. A warm hearth in the cozy living room, a perfect place to snuggle up on cold nights. The bathroom with the stained glass windows and the deep tub are inviting you to have a soak. And the piece de resistance, it’s the bedroom. The giant bed that looks almost like a toadstool. You laugh at the decor, thinking of how damn cliche it is. But it’s really out of this world.
“This is your home,” Syd whispers. “It’s your home with me.”
Your lips meet in a soft kiss. You’re inexperienced and Syd doesn’t want to rush you into anything. He wants you to feel comfortable with him as you explore a sensuality that you never knew you could have with someone else.
He helps you onto the bed, pushing your nightgown up over your hips. His eyes are glassy with a look of pure love for you.
“You’re so beautiful,” he praises as he undresses you.
As you try to hide your body from him, Syd puts you at ease with soft words and sweet kisses. He knows that you’re feeling shy but you really have no reason to be.
His fingers are featherlight as he touches you. His hands spread your thighs, allowing him the chance to look at your most intimate part. It’s bare and looking so wet.
“Never been touched, hm?” He asks, though he knows the answer.
“Never.” You confirm.
His fingers drag through your dew, smearing it all over your puffy lips. The sounds that fall from your lips are breathy and wanton, though a little meek. Syd enjoys the way you’re opening up to him now. Your swollen nub twitches with need as he leans in to press kisses on your mound.
“You’re so divine.” He whispers.
One of his fingers slips into you, making you moan. Your thighs are already shaking as he begins to finger you. In and out, he pumps the digit to make you even more euphoric. When he curls his finger to rub your sweet spot, this makes you cry out.
“May I taste you?” He asks, his voice almost timid.
You look down at him. “Y-yes, please.”
Syd doesn’t disappoint. He laps at your folds, sucking them gently before directing his attention to your clit. The sweet sounds you make spur him on to continue, rendering you into a puddle of pure bliss. When you come undone, he groans at the way your thighs clench around his face.
The nectar you leak out is what has him feasting on you even more fervently. His lips smack as he licks you clean. You whimper as he removes his finger, licking the digit clean as well.
Syd’s hands cup your breasts, leaning in to suckle on the pebbled nipples. He looks into your eyes, a look of pure love is what is enchanting you.
When he undresses, you have a good look at his wings. They seem to glow even brighter now, especially as he slots himself between your sticky thighs. Syd caresses your cheeks, kissing you deeply.
“You are my bride now,” he whispers against your lips.
“Yes, your bride.”
You never knew you’d even want to say that to anyone else. You always thought you’d be miserable to marry someone. But with Syd, you feel like you’re truly connected to him. This feeling is made even more real as he slowly slides into you.
His face contorted in pleasure, and he’s gasping as the warmth of you is just pure heat. It’s so wet, slick…so perfect. His eyes dart down to where you’re connected and he lets out such a sweet moan.
“I’ve never,” he whispers. “Never been with anyone. Not…until you.”
His hands come up to hold your hands, your fingers intertwining. Though it feels intense, you feel no pain. Syd rocks his hips slowly, allowing you to adjust to him and his size. He feels so good, filling you up like this. You’re panting softly, loving that he’s holding onto your hands to keep you grounded.
Both of you share a flurry of sweet kisses that soon turn sloppy as he begins to thrust into you even harder and deeper. Your heart flutters with each move he makes. Your mind is fuzzy from the sweet love and lust that courses through you.
Your hold tightens on his hands and you feel the signs of another orgasm. The coil in your tummy is tightening fast and you feel like it’s driving you so close to the edge once more, and every single thrust is on your sweet spot.
“Let go for me,” he whispers against your lips.
Stars dance in your vision as the pleasure overtakes you. Syd grunts he chases his own high, emptying into you with a moan of your name. He’s sloppy as he continues to thrust into you, prolonging the pleasure. You both begin to come down, holding onto one another.
Another flurry of kisses, these ones are much softer and sweeter. Syd helps you clean up and you both get dressed. He guides you outside where the moon is still so bright.
His wings flutter, emitting fairy dust all over. Syd gathers you in his arms, floating towards the moon. In the moment, you cling to him. And slowly, you’re both floating in the air. Syd’s wings are bursting with color now.
“I promise,” he begins. “To love you unconditionally, to make you happy every day and to worship you like the queen of my heart that you are.”
You smile. “I promise to treat you well, to love you unconditionally and to always seek comfort within you.”
He cups your cheeks and kisses you. You’re both bathed in moonlight, and suddenly it’s like thousands upon thousands of fireflies are flying around you both. When you pull away, you and Syd can’t help but smile.
What began as just as being intrigued ended up being the greatest love story anyone could ever tell…
