Work Text:
Heaven and Hell. They were divided by only one plane. A material plane where humans remained, and this plane also served as a judgment plane. One where humans would be given the chance to prove whether they would be sent to heaven or hell based on their actions committed on Earth. If you did bad things, you would be sent to Hell when you died. If you did good things, you would be sent to Heaven. Only, it was not that simple. Not at all.
Some were born in Heaven, or born in Hell. Not only that, Angels or Demons could be sent to the opposite ends if they managed to do enough “Bad” or “Good” deeds. Of course, some acts could never be forgiven, and some acts would send individuals straight to hell. Angels were given numerous rules. They were meant to be the purest beings, and so, they were meant to be perfect. Their clothes and appearances differed depending on the Angel’s personality and how they passed, but they could never know of their human lives at all. How they lived on Earth was considered lost to them. Once someone was born as an Angel. Most of their memories of their human life were wiped. Lost to them forever. Only the bare essentials stayed. Their likes, dislikes, friendships, and even enemies when they were alive. Their passion and goals, but they were never told how they passed. The faces of those they once knew were gone from their memory. Either wiped clean or replaced by other individuals. It served as a way to maintain anonymity between Angels and Demons. To prevent Angels from getting attached to people who may or may not be in Hell. To intermingle would cause the Angels to become less impartial. To hesitate when they would need to judge a Human’s life. If they knew the pain and horrors of Hell. Their unbiased desires would be tainted. It was for this reason that Izuku never met with Katsuki.
Why, since their deaths, he had not been able to see him again in person, but rather only from afar. Hell was far from ideal. It was cruel and unforgiving. One could not die in Hell. Every once human was hunted and killed by Hell-spawned Demons. They were constantly on the run, but eventually, when they were caught, which they always were, they were killed; how they were killed always varied, though it was always painful. Sometimes torn apart, sometimes burned alive, sometimes eaten. Depending on the severity of your crime, you were found more often. It was a sick game they played. If someone had been horrible while alive, a murderer or a rapist for example, they were constantly hunted by Spawns. The demons would torture and torment. Once someone’s soul was completely broken down, they would sometimes be allowed to be left alone, but normally, the torment would continue. It was meant to be an eternity of torment.
Hell as a place was dark. There was no sun, and it always seemed as if it were night. At fickle, Hell would become pitch black, making it impossible to see anything. The temperature was always too hot, and somehow, it always seemed to get hotter, so you could not get accustomed to it. Your body would burn and burn, it was hot to breathe, and the air was humid, making it almost suffocating. There was no form of light, and there were no places to inhabit to live. Instead, trash was scattered everywhere. Trash that had no known origin. If Izuku could guess, it would maybe be something that Spawns created to torment them.
Sometimes the trash would stink heavily of feces and urine, while other times it would reek of smells that reminded once-human demons of their prior lives. That was another main difference between Demons and Angels. Once someone died, they would be shown their entire lives. Things they forgot, things they did wrong, people they loved, it was all to make them remember what they had lost. Izuku knew many Human Demons who would probably like to forget everything, but to Izuku, he was glad he could remember. How a Demon died was always the most vivid of memories. Demons could remember their entire lives, down to the very minute detail. Izuku could remember coming into this world and opening his eyes. What he ate the day he died. His mother. Kacchan.
In some ways, it hurt to be the only one to remember, and in other ways, he almost pitied Kacchan for not remembering. The Kacchan from his memories would not accept being kept in the dark about that, but no matter how much Izuku tried to reach him, he couldn’t talk to him.
Part of him thought it would be better not to ever get in touch with Kacchan. If he did, he would be considered corrupt, wouldn’t he? Corrupted and unable to cast judgment. Kacchan would fall to Hell and join him. Izuku would never wish that pain on Kacchan. At the same time, he felt selfish sometimes, and he would try to contact Kacchan in vain, which he would always regret after. His mother was probably in Heaven, or at least, he could only hope she was. There was even a chance she was still alive, considering Izuku did not know how long he had been dead. His best guess was at least 30 years. Heaven and Hell were meant to feel timeless, from what Izuku could find out. Most of what he knew from Heaven, he knew from Fallen Angels, and they similarly told him that they could not tell how long ago they had died. The only way anyone could estimate how long they had been dead was by comparing stories to other Demons. Which was coincidentally difficult. Most of the lands were barren of any life or occupied by tortured human-born demon displays. When someone ran into another Demon, it wasn’t as if they would be able to talk to each other leisurely. Usually, it was a quick decision before you would have to separate and continue on your own. You could not run at all, and sometimes, Human Born Demons would give up altogether, but that would not change your fate. It was an endless pit of agony, and there were days when Izuku questioned if it was worth running at all, but he never stopped. Never stopped running and asking questions because all he wanted to do was to see Kacchan again. Or anyone from his life really.
Kacchan was the only one he knew for certain was dead with him, though, because he had seen Kacchan die. Felt the life leave his body, and how the once energetic boy struggled to breathe as he choked on his blood. Every night, he would see it. Swear that Kacchan was still in his arms, only to wake up sobbing.
Kacchan had died because of him. Because he hadn’t been fast enough to get to Kacchan. Izuku had been an Officer. Capable of protecting anyone except the person he loved the most, his boyfriend apparently.
Izuku had only spotted Kacchan once, which was the only reason he had even known the other had become an Angel. The first time it happened, it had been completely pitch black in Hell. Izuku could not see a thing, and he had closed his eyes to shelter himself from the spawns chasing him. There had been a sound, the sound of the loud toll of a tail dragging. Their long and heavy tails would often drag against the trash, but their feet would make no sound. They would call out in a voice that often resembled other Human Born Demons. Sometimes their voice would mimic children, and other times, it would seem to mimic the voices of individuals in someone’s life. The voice would sound different to everyone, but they would call out. Izuku had fallen for this trick often when he first landed in Hell. His mother, Kacchan, his old friends, his co-workers, even his Favorite Fictional Hero, All Might. Each time he would go to the voice, he would be killed. It was meant to make you fear the voices of those you loved while alive. Izuku couldn’t tell if it was working or not.
Either way, he had heard Kacchan’s voice that night. The Demon called to him, and his chest felt a stabbing pain go through it. His chest always ached in Hell, and it always bled, making it easier for Spawns to find him. Sometimes he would cover it with trash he found to help absorb the bleeding, but this would just cause the pain to increase in intervals until he couldn’t move from the sheer pain, and he had to remove it. Izuku had the largest gash in his chest, but he also had multiple stab wounds all over his body. He could cover those, though. Most likely because it had not been the wound that killed him directly.
As he lay huddled, he could feel his legs lock up at the sound of the sniffing of the Spawns. He would be killed again, and he had no idea where he could run to protect himself. That was all he could think of as he placed his hands over his head. That night, he didn’t know what to do and had no one. Didn’t even know if it was worth it to run away. No one else had his back until a light erupted from the sky. The light had nearly blinded him, making his slit eyes turn into barely slivers as he looked up into the sky. It almost seared his skin even from where he was hiding inside a pile of trash. The three Spawns hissed and backed away from the light, while one fled from the scene.
Izuku couldn't help but be drawn to the light despite its burn, and he unconsciously came out of his safety zone. He hadn’t seen the light in so long. His hand reached out, and Izuku flinched as the light that radiated from the being ached down to his bones. The being was difficult to see at first, but the voice immediately revealed the owner of the light.
“Fucking gross things”
That voice, he had recognized it. It was the voice of the boy he always saw in his dreams, and Izuku forced his eyes to gaze upon the light more. His Blonde hair almost glittered from the light, but it was still spiky as ever. It gave off the appearance that it would be rough, yet it was not at all. Izuku could still feel the strands between his fingers as he stroked the other’s hair while they lay next to each other asleep. Kacchan had kicked him out of the bed when he woke up and found Izuku burying his hands in his hair. As an Angel, he was as beautiful as he was alive; his wings were large, and the feathers were almost sharp. The light that illuminated him wasn’t mainly from his own body; rather, it was from the small explosions that came off his body. They almost twinkled all over his body, but they made no sound. He wore a white tunic that showed off his shoulders, and it almost floated as Izuku could see the entirety of Kacchan’s legs. His legs were covered in small golden cut-like scars, but none bled. His shoulder had a large, explosion-like golden scar. All of which would be beautiful if he did not remember how a lot of those came to be. They were a reminder of Kacchan’s death. He had died protecting Izuku.
Kacchan had helped him capture Himiko Toga and then Jin Bubaigawara, which was what put him in Shigaraki’s sights. Toga and Bubaigawara had been the last two in the group to catch besides Shigaraki and Dabi. The League of Villains were almost defeated, almost all locked away to never hurt anyone again. They had been so close. So close. The two had been attacked during a date. Izuku remembered that night.
Kacchan walked beside him as he kept his hands shoved in his pockets. Izuku tried to walk closer to Kacchan, only for Kacchan to walk ahead of him. Izuku walked faster to catch up to him, only for his boyfriend to look at him with a frown.
“Are you trying to walk faster than me, asshole?”
Kacchan was hyper competitive even with silly things like this. Izuku laughed, “No, never, Kacchan. I just don’t want to lose you. But maybe when you join the force, then we’ll have to see who can run faster.” Izuku was practically beaming as he looked over at Kacchan.
That got Kacchan to speak up, “As if I couldn’t beat you already! You really think I need to join the force to win?”
“Right, Kacchan is the best Boxer in Japan, after all.”
Kacchan smirked, “Damn right I am. I don’t need professional training from some shitty academy to beat your ass sideways”
“In boxing, definitely, but in street fighting, I win, Kacchan”. He had been very proud of the win he had gotten over his boyfriend the day before.
Kacchan’s face flushed as he turned around to glare at Izuku, “You got lucky! You try that eyes thing again, and I’ll break your nose! That’s for cowards!”
“No, it’s not. It’s a legitimate strategy, Kacchan. It’s how some criminals fight, too”, Izuku said, putting a finger up as he explained. “They aim for the eyes and um well…uh…other sensitive areas”
“Exactly, it’s a strategy for criminals. Cowards”
Izuku remembered being worried about Kacchan joining the force that night. He had laughed at Kacchan’s little complaint, then went silent. They walked in silence for a bit, and the other stopped walking before scowling at him, “Just because we had dinner already, doesn’t mean you can shut up just because you don’t want to talk or something. You got something to say, say it, idiot”
Izuku perked up, “Huh? Oh, it’s nothing, really, Kacchan.”
“Spit it out. You’re being annoying.”
“It’s well…I just-” How did he say that he didn’t want Kacchan to join him on the force at all? That he was worried about what could happen to him. Kacchan would feel so insulted if he admitted it, but it was his feelings regardless. Izuku looked for the right words.
“Are you sure you want to join the force, Kacchan?”
Kacchan’s brow furrowed more, and he glared at Izuku.
“What the fuck brought this on?”
“I-It’s not anything, really, I just. Maybe you won’t like it. Like earlier you said, you don’t like to fight cowardly, but sometimes you’ll have to so you can protect others and yourself.”
“I don’t need to fight like that and if I did, then I would be a shit excuse for Number 1”
“But some people just won’t fight fair, Kacchan. You know that”
“It sounds like you’re doubting me, asshole. Just how weak do you think I am?” He could tell Kacchan’s temper was flaring up, but he wasn’t immediately lashing out. In the past, he would have. Maybe when they were growing up, but not now.
“I don’t think you’re weak at all, Kacchan. You know that. I just…I don’t know if you really get the difference between a full-time officer and what you’re doing now. It’s more”, he paused, then looked up to Kacchan’s glaring eyes, “Dangerous. You never know what day could be your last, and I-”
That did get Kacchan angry and he leaned forward to shout at him, “You think I’m fucking stupid enough to not know that?! I already know what I’m getting into!”
Izuku stood his ground, and he tightened his fists at his sides, “I’m sorry, Kacchan, but I don’t think you do. It’s not only about winning and beating up people, it’s also about keeping other people safe even at the risk of your own life.”
“As if I don’t know that, shithead! You think I can’t save some useless extras while I kick ass?!”
He knew Kacchan could. Looking back on it, he knew he hadn’t been able to accept it. That Kacchan would always be in danger. Izuku wanted Kacchan to change his mind, as selfish as that was. All he wanted was for Kacchan to be safe because he couldn’t bear to lose him.
“It’s not that easy, Kacchan! Things are different every day and I-”
“Maybe not for you, asshole, but I’m better than you and I’m always going to be better than you. Don't fucking underestimate me, Deku!”
Izuku had heard those words over and over again when he was a kid. Kacchan had always bragged and insulted him as a kid. Bullied him until they got into Middle School. It never went more than words, but it had hurt him so much growing up.
His mouth opened, but he was cut off by the sound of a clinking metal hitting the floor. He didn’t know what it was at the time; only now did he know that it was the sound of the safety pin being removed from a grenade. One that Dabi had removed himself before throwing the grenade towards Kacchan and Izuku. They were given no proper dodge, and Izuku only heard a ringing in his ears as his body was forcefully thrown back onto the floor. The wind was knocked out of his lungs, and his eyes almost burned in his sockets. Kacchan shouted from above him, and Izuku looked upward at Kacchan. Kacchan’s eyes were wide open, almost shocked as he looked down at Izuku.
“K-Kacchan?”
Kacchan had thrown his body on top of Izuku to shield him from the explosion. It had been too close to both of them. Too close to dodge completely. In that moment, though, Izuku couldn’t even be scared. Rather, all he could think was, Is Kacchan okay?
His face was fine, and Kacchan didn’t look like he was in any obvious pain. Perhaps that was why it took him a minute or two to understand. He didn’t know until he felt a hot, thick liquid plop onto his shoulder. Kacchan coughed; the very sound was horrid. Too wet and raspy. A crimson liquid slowly trickled down the corner of Kacchan’s mouth, and he knew then. He knew that Kacchan wasn’t okay.
Kacchan’s pupils bore holes in him. They accused him. His pale skin almost looked flushed, and Izuku tried to hold him before he noticed the large pieces of concrete that remained embedded in Kacchan’s shoulder and stomach. Every part of his body was bleeding. His legs had various cuts from different items that had been blown up around them and cut him. Shrapnel. Kacchan barely moved, and his body trembled as Izuku screamed. His voice tore his throat as he tried to push Kacchan off of him.
“Kacchan! Kacchan, y-you’re bleeding…” his body almost felt frozen as he lay down on the floor. The other’s chest rose in small breaths as he tried to speak, but all that came out was more blood.
“Kacchan, don’t speak!”
And Kacchan never did. Never could. But he still fought. Tried to help as Dabi attacked Izuku. Izuku could only work to protect himself as he watched Kacchan grow slower and slower with his movements. Kacchan had been the one to land the final punch to Dabi and knock him out to the floor. But that was all he had in him. The moment he achieved his victory, he stumbled and fell. Kacchan was unable to hold himself together anymore. He tried to call the ambulance, but it took too long. Too long that Kacchan died in his hands soon after. Izuku kept calling to him. Kept trying to talk to him.
“No, no, no, please, Kacchan! Don’t die. Please, you can join the force, please, Kacchan. I promise I won’t complain if you join. I’m sorry.”
Kachan couldn’t speak, though, and he slowly bled out his hands. The very blood that coursed through Kacchan’s veins and kept him alive was now covering his hands. Kacchan died like that, unable to speak or breathe, while Izuku had barely sustained any injuries. It wasn’t fair, and Izuku couldn’t handle it. Kacchan stopped breathing long before an ambulance arrived. Instead, Izuku was left alone with Dabi and Kacchan. Most of the civilians or people who had been nearby during the initial explosion had long since fled, and Izuku remained alone with Dabi and Kacchan’s corpse. It wasn’t until he realized he had stabbed Dabi all over his body and he was being dragged away that Izuku fully could understand that Kacchan was dead. He didn’t believe it. Couldn’t. He wailed, asking over and over again the same question.
Is Kacchan okay?
But he knew he wasn’t. His little stunt, though, had resulted in him being kicked out of the force. They wanted to charge him with Manslaughter, but they didn’t even try to catch Shigaraki. It felt like a slap in the face. He was the one treated as if he were the scum of the earth while the force he dedicated his life to, couldn’t bother to even try to get justice for Kacchan’s death. So he had taken it into his hands.
Shigaraki had bragged about Kacchan’s death, and asked him how much he liked his present, but Izuku couldn’t even bother to fully speak to the other as they fought. Izuku had been winning, but he became too emotional with Shigaraki’s taunts. Got too sloppy and was stabbed over and over again as he strangled Shigaraki’s frail neck with his bare hands. The stab to his chest had been the last one. The most brutal one, but not enough to make Izuku want to stop. It wasn’t until he lay down on his back next to Shigaraki’s body that he felt okay enough to close his eyes.
“I’m sorry, Kacchan. I’m sorry that I was so weak that you had to protect me…”
There, Izuku bled to death, and his body grew cold. Alone and cold. No one had known of their fight, so he doubted that anyone would know what happened to him. The only thing that they would know was that Izuku and Shigaraki had suddenly disappeared.
“Kacchan-”
Izuku whispered before screaming, “Kacchan!” He couldn’t even find it in him at that moment to care if the Spawns would kill him; all he wanted was to be able to talk to him again. To tell him of everything Izuku had failed to tell him back then, but Katsuki only turned to him and wrinkled his nose in disgust. His red eyes were almost shaped like explosions themselves and he looked down at Hell before flying away. Just like that, the light was gone. Izuku couldn’t help but reach for it as it faded. With time, he decided he would find some way to contact Kacchan again. Even if it seemed impossible, Izuku would not give up. Couldn’t when it meant that he would have given Kacchan up entirely if he did. The second time he visited, Izuku tried screaming at him to get him to listen, but again, he didn’t respond. He didn’t recognize Izuku at all.
Part of him worried that he intentionally didn’t want to contact Izuku since he had been responsible for his death, but the more logical part of him knew it was most likely because, from Kacchan’s perspective, a random Demon was trying to speak to him for some reason. Most likely for nefarious purposes. The third time Kacchan visited, he moved closer to the land. Closer to Izuku and so, Izuku tried again. Tried to yell to him that he wanted to speak to him and that he would not regret giving him the chance to speak to him. Still, Kacchan gave the same confused look. The fourth time, Kacchan allowed his body to float closer to the floor. Izuku tried to speak to him again, only for Kacchan to actually speak to him that time.
But what he said hadn’t been anything that Izuku wanted to hear at all.
“What the actual fuck are you saying? You’d think a useless demon like you would at least talk to me in a language I can understand instead of whatever bullshit you’re spouting out”
Kacchan glared at him, and the light he exuded burned Izuku’s skin, but it didn’t make Izuku cry out. Instead, all he could do was tear up. The other could not understand what he was saying at all.
“Are you crying from an insult? Some lousy ass demon”
He was crying, and yet he could not stop.
“Please, Kacchan, please. It’s me, Deku! Please recognize me! I’m sorry, I love you. I’m sorry I did this to you.”
A loud masculine voice spoke out from above, calling Kacchan back to join him back to Heaven. Kacchan stared at him as he slowly prepared to take off. Being so close to the other caused Izuku to reach out to try to touch him. His finger almost burned off the bone, and Kacchan backed up, sending out an explosion of light as he took off. It melted most of the skin off Izuku’s body, but it wasn’t the pain that hurt Izuku the most. It was the way that Izuku looked at him. The way he appeared as if he were somehow betrayed by Izuku. As if he thought that Izuku would ever try to hurt him.
It took a while for Kacchan to appear after that incident, but eventually he reappeared. This time, he attempted to burn the trash that lay in Hell. Of course, once it returned, the Angel seemed to get angry. Why he would try to burn the trash seemed strange to him but his best guess had been that Kacchan was trying to make it more bearable for demons like Izuku.
Izuku took the chance to spell out Kacchan in the trash to try to get his attention while the trash faced his wrath. Only Kacchan ended up destroying it before he could read it properly. He tried again and again. And each time, Kacchan ended up speaking a bit more. Insulting him 10x more than before.
“You’re such a weird fucking Demon. What do you even want from me? If you want something, wouldn’t it be better to speak normal human speak?”
This time, Izuku nodded, and Kacchan’s furrowed brown softened in confusion. He could at least understand gestures, which opened a lot of opportunities.
“Then do that, idiot.”
Izuku tried shrugging to make Kacchan understand that he couldn’t speak normally, or at least not in a way that would allow Kacchan to understand, but that just caused Kacchan’s face to flush in anger.
“Are you messing with me, asshole? You don’t know why you don’t speak normally? Is this one of those things that Demons do to mess with Angels?!”
Izuku tried to shake his head, but before he could try to change Kacchan’s mind, the other left again. Leaving Izuku in the dark once again. When Kacchan visited again, this time, Izuku was prepared. He would spend every day rebuilding trash to spell out Kacchan’s name. Whenever Kacchan would show up, he would have to see the message that Izuku left for him.
When Kacchan returned the sixth time, this time he appeared to be searching for something. Izuku interrupted him to try to get Kacchan to follow him to show him, but Kacchan didn’t bother following him. He told him that he had no time for his stupid games, and Izuku was left with no option but to follow him instead.
On the seventh and eighth time, something distinctly changed, and Kacchan got braver. Braver to land on the floor. His feet scorched the floor, and yet Izuku immediately couldn't help but try to get closer.
It wasn’t until the tenth attempt that Kacchan talked to him for once.
“I can’t understand you, but you can understand me, am I right?”
Izuku perked up and nodded. Yes, that was it.
“Spell it out with the dumb trash, you know me or something from my past life?”
Kacchan was amazing for figuring it out, and Izuku couldn’t help but try to wrap his arms around the Angel only for Kacchan to yell at him before flying away to get something. Izuku was a bit afraid he had left entirely, but he soon returned.
“Write, dumbass”
Finally, he could write to him. Or at least he tried to, but Kacchan again complained that he could not understand the language he wrote in. Kacchan looked at him, his lip curling in distaste. Did he think that Izuku was messing with him?
Izuku waved his hands in front of his face as if to tell Kacchan that it was not intentional. Luckily, Kacchan seemed to get the message.
“If I can’t even understand you, then why the hell do these idiots try to keep me from seeing you so desperately?” Kacchan seemed to ask more of himself than anything. That was news to him, though. Who was trying to keep Kacchan from visiting him? Was it the higher-ups? That was all Izuku could think. He hadn’t known much about who ran Heaven, per se, but he did know that there were ranks for Angels. Some Angels were higher ranked than others. How they got to be that way was lost to him, though if he had to guess, most likely it was because they proved themselves to be impartial Angels who passed Judgement equally on everyone.
Izuku held his chin in his hand. Was it because they did not want to lose Kacchan as an Angel? If he communicated with Kacchan more often, then it was very likely, no, almost certain that Kacchan would fall from Heaven.
How would he explain that to Kacchan? Izuku pointed to himself and then to Kacchan before making a cross with his hands.
“I already know they don’t want us to talk to each other, idiot”
Izuku shook his head, then pointed to himself and did a large swooping motion with his hands to Kacchan before finishing it with a cross.
“You trying to tell me they don’t want me to transform into a Demon?”
Izuku nodded, only for Kacchan to grit his teeth.
“No duh! You think I don’t know that? Seriously, how dumb do you think I am?!”
Izuku shook his head, then did a Zero with his hand as a slight smile tugged at his lips.
“What are you even trying to tell me? That I’m an O?”
It caused Izuku to giggle. The sound made a loud rumble in his chest. He hadn’t laughed before in Hell, at least not so heartily. Was that how he sounded now?
“What are you, a lawnmower?” Kacchan asked, a brow raised with a sneer.
Izuku could only laugh louder. Eventually, Kacchan left again, but he returned sooner than before. This time, he didn’t speak aloud, but rather in Izuku’s head. It was some sort of spell, but not one that would be approved by the elders.
“Speak to me now, you damn Deku”
That nickname!
“Kacchan!”
“Kacchan? The fuck kinda nickname is that? Don’t call me that! What’s the point of such a cutesy nickname?!”
“Kacchan! Kacchan! You can hear me now!”
Izuku felt his eyes burn with something like tears and he screwed up his face in tears as he tried to wrap his arms around Kacchan. He just wanted to touch him again. To feel his warmth against him. Kacchan moved again.
“I said, stop calling me that!”
“Kacchan, you can hear me! Will you be in trouble for speaking to me like this? You will, won’t you? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“Shut your noisy brain for 2 seconds and don’t ask me questions either. I know what I’m doing.”
“But Kacchan, what if you fall? What if they send you down here?”
“Not happening, dipshit. Now shut up and explain. Who the hell are you, and why do you know me? You better not have been lying, or I’ll blast you so hard that you turn into Demon smithereens.”
Izuku couldn’t even control himself to talk about it. His chest only ached, and his body felt as if thousands of needles were pricking it, but nothing could make it less worth it to know that Kacchan could hear him now.
“But won’t that make you fall?”
“Did I ask for your damn opinion?”
Izuku didn’t want Kacchan to fall, though. This was Hell, something he would never wish on anyone besides the worst of the worst.
He should not have told Kacchan; he knew this, but to keep it from him would be against his wishes. Selfish when Kacchan could make his own choice. Izuku had tried to take that choice from Kacchan, to protect him from everything, only for it to come and blow up in everyone’s faces, especially Kacchan’s.
“We…we were dating”
Kacchan’s eyebrows lifted, “You better be joking.”
“We were strong together. An Officer and a Boxer. You were the strongest Boxer in Japan.”
“The second part makes sense, but you being an officer? A wimpy guy like you would have gotten kicked in two seconds from the academy.”
“Well, it’s true! We-”
“Shut up. Give me solid proof. If you know so much about me, then you gotta know how I died, right? Tell me how that happened, and then I’ll see if I believe you”, Kacchan said, crossing his arms with almost a pout. He was beautiful even when he pouted.
Kacchan couldn’t know how he died, but he was sure that he would compare what he said to his injuries. Still, he didn’t want to say it. Didn’t want to tell him how he had failed him and how painful his death had been. How he had died trying to save him.
“I…”
“Stop stuttering and tell me.”
“I don’t want to, Kacchan…please don’t make me”
“I’m not some pussy who can’t handle talking about how he died, so tell me already or I’m just gonna assume you’re lying”
“I don’t think that at all about you, Kacchan. You’re the most amazing person in the world to me. I just don’t want to say it because it hurts to think about…”
Kacchan’s frown deepened now, “You were there when it happened, weren’t you?”
Izuku froze up, and his eyes only burned more as he gave a slow nod.
Something shifted in Kacchan’s gaze, his face flushed, and he looked away. Somehow, the other was embarrassed even at the idea of someone seeing him die. It wasn’t as if he could control it, but Kacchan was too proud and too insecure sometimes, as much as he worked not to be when they were together, alive.
“Tell me or I’m leaving, Deku.”
“You used to call me that before,” Izuku said, his eyes looking downwards.
“Deku?”
Izuku gave a nod, “Yeah, it used to be an insult, but as we grew older, the meaning changed. Or at least, to me. I didn’t find myself minding it as much, y’know?” he gave a bright smile, his eyes crinkling as he did.
“Are you sure you just didn’t get used to getting insulted so much you started liking it, you weirdo?” Kacchan clicked his tongue, looking away.
“Maybe, but I don’t think so,” he said, shaking his head.
“Hey Deku, tell me how I died, and stop changing the subject. You think I’m gonna just forget?”
“No, you would never forget, Kacchan. That’s not like you at all”. He was stubborn, impossibly so. Though Kacchan would probably say the same about him.
“Then tell me, and stop wasting my damn time. I wanna know how I died because it had to have been bullshit”
“Why do you want to know so badly, Kacchan? It won’t change what happened, trust me, I wish I could go back to that day every night I fall asleep. I wish I could have the power to change fate.”
“Who the hell wouldn’t want to know how they died? Huh? It had to have been Heroic because there’s no fucking way I ended up here otherwise”
Izuku tilted his head slightly, “What do you mean, Kacchan?”
“What do you mean what do you mean? I mean exactly what I said! I want to know how I died because it had to have gotten me into Heaven. It doesn't make sense unless that’s what happened!”
“No, you got into Heaven because you’re a good person, Kacchan-”
“Fuck off, you know that’s a lie. I was great, but I wasn’t the type of person that they would want to get in here. If you grew up with me, then you know what type of person I was when I was alive!”
“You don’t know the full story. You’re confused, Kacchan. Your memory is spotty, right? You can’t recall so many parts of your life. I don’t know what memories they put into your head, but they aren’t showing the full story or the ones that matter!”
“They aren’t putting any damn memories into my head. I always get more memories when I come back here, dumbass. They’re random ones. Sometimes they’re about nothing except what I had for food on some Saturday, but other times, they’re helpful. Show me what I was like and I can tell you for sure right now, I’m not supposed to be in Heaven!”
“You don’t know the full story, like I said. Kacchan, you changed. You weren’t like that anymore. It isn’t like that. Please just trust me…trust me when I say that you are a good person and your death doesn’t need to be some form of repentance for everything you did.” Izuku held out his hand.
Kacchan glared at his hand. He bit his lip before he reached out his hand to Izuku. Kacchan exuded only warmth and comfort. A sense of home, and Izuku couldn’t get away from him. Izuku’s clawed hand reached out. It was not often he thought of how he looked, but right now was one of those times. In comparison to Kacchan, he must have looked monstrous. He was taller and covered in wounds. His heart bled always, and he had dark horns that curled around like a Sheep’s. The horns were covered in greenery, and he had curved, smaller wings. His canines were sharper than an animal’s, and he had claws as well. Some individuals ended up more animal than human, but Izuku was not one of those. He was more human than animal.
Kacchan’s glowing hand emanated small sparks, but they didn’t hurt as he slid his fingers against Kacchan’s before interlocking with his fingers. His head ached as he felt a strong rush of emotion. Suddenly, he sat across from Kacchan once again. The yellow table below them had a huge stain on it, and he could recall it now.
This had been their first date. Izuku left his hand open for Kacchan to grab, and then in a flash, it was gone.
“That…that was my damn memory. You! Deku, do it again. How the hell did you do that?!”
“I don’t know…I’m not sure why you got a memory back now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was because you and I were so close.”
“Because of the skin-to-skin contact”
Izuku and Kacchan looked at each other for a second before Izuku wrapped his arm around Kacchan.
“Then touch me again, please, Kacchan, because I haven’t felt you in so long. I feel like I’m going crazy without you.”
“Fine. You can touch me, just give me back my memories. I want them all back, so get to work, Deku. Make them all come back, and I might consider your debt paid.”
“What debt?”
“The debt you are accumulating by being annoying.”
Izuku’s hand brushed up Kacchan’s soft skin and trailed up from his left hand to his forearm. His finger brushed against a golden scar left there. A shard of glass had cut there, slicing apart flesh. Kacchan winced in his grip.
“D-does it hurt?” Izuku asked, immediately pulling his hand away.
“No! Idiot, just feels…weird. Besides, shouldn’t I be asking you that question instead? You’re constantly bleeding out, there’s no way that’s any more comfortable”. Kacchan said as Izuku placed his thumb over Kacchan’s wrist now. His heart was thrumming, and he could feel Kacchan stiffen up as another memory flashed through their heads. This time, Izuku could feel the soft feel of Kacchan’s lips against his as he kissed him. Kacchan’s face reddened, and Izuku could feel the sparks against Kacchan’s skin grow in intensity. He was entirely like a star, one that shone ever so brightly, only to explode on itself the soonest.
They parted, and he felt the current Kacchan bite his lip as the sparks grew harsher. Their mouths slotted against each other while he let his tongue slide into Kacchan’s mouth. He tasted of Honey. Of everything that made a day perfect. It made the ache go away, and Kacchan breathed out shakily through his nose. They had done this before when they were alive, but right now, Kacchan could not remember. His reaction had been the same, though. Kacchan, like Izuku, had been a complete virgin. They had their first time together and shared it.
He didn’t push him away, though. His eyes remained wide open, and the reds in his eyes almost got bigger as Izuku’s tongue ran over every inch he could of inside of Kacchan’s mouth. Angels were not supposed to engage in pleasures like this, but Kacchan wanted to. Wanted to remember everything that he had lost. They parted, and Kacchan let out a small sigh. His lips almost trembled.
“W-was that supposed to be a kiss? That was barely anything at all!”
Izuku giggled, “Do you want another one, Kacchan?”
Kacchan was so flushed that the sparks around him started to sound like a persistent pounding in the air. Still, they didn’t hurt Izuku.
“I don’t want anything from you, just my memories!”
“If that’s all you want, then you’ll be fine with just a few touches, right? I’ll help you remember you more, Kacchan. Whatever you want from me, I’ll do. I love you so much, Kacchan”. Izuku rested his chin on Kacchan’s fluffy hair.
He could see the wheels turning in Kacchan’s head as he tried to figure out a way to ask for another kiss without actually asking. Their lips met again as they kissed again. More memories flooded the two of them, and Izuku could feel himself lying with Kacchan on the floor. The other barely said a word, only looking away with red cheeks. His body was perfect, even scarred. Izuku let his hand slowly run up to Kacchan’s exposed shoulder, then ever so slowly he pulled down the tunic to explore more unmarrred and marred skin alike.
Kacchan clenched his teeth, and he was completely stiff.
“Don’t worry, Kacchan, we’ve done this before…I promise I’ll be gentle”, Izuku whispered to him as he let his fingers drift down to Kacchan’s pink nipple. Just brushing against it caused the other to almost yelp.
“I’m not nervous! Fuck off, don’t pretend like you’re so cool”
Izuku’s thumb pressed into the bud; he made a few small circles and watched as his nipple naturally perked up. He could feel Kacchan digging his fingernails into him.
“You’re so good for me, right, Kacchan? Like always, the perfect Angel”
He knew Kacchan loved being praised, so he kept at it. The blonde soaked up praise like a sponge, even if he tried to pretend he wasn’t affected by it. He could feel more heat radiating off of Kacchan’s body, and Izuku hissed as his skin started to burn. Kacchan immediately tried to let go of him, but Izuku only pulled him closer before he latched his mouth onto Kacchan’s nipple. With a few gentle caresses of his tongue, he could feel Kacchan squirming.
“W-wait, I’m gonna burn your skin off! Just let me go, we can hold hands like normal or whatever, and find out my memories some other way.”
Izuku kept at it, though, letting the flat of his tongue run over the perky bud. His other hand went up to Kacchan’s other nipple, as he exposed more of his chest, he could finally see the apparent golden scar that bloomed in the center of his chest. Had his heart taken damage during the explosion? That would make the most sense. Izuku tried not to think about it, but the memory replayed anyway. In a flash, he could see Kacchan beneath him, and he heard the other groan loudly in a raspy way that shook Izuku down to his core. He let go of the other immediately, and Kacchan’s eyes remained unnaturally open as he struggled to breathe.
“K-kacchan?!” Izuku let his hand brush over Kacchan’s chest. The moment faded, though, and soon Kacchan’s breath returned to him.
“Wait, Kacchan, maybe we shouldn’t…maybe-”
Kacchan coughed, sounding almost as if he were strangling before he spoke, “No, keep going, I want to see. I…I want to see everything.”
He should stop, he knew he should, but he couldn’t. Maybe, just maybe, he could show Kacchan the love he had wanted to express as he lay dying in his hands, tell him everything he wanted to back then.
“Okay, Kacchan-” he let his hand slide back up to his other nipple while his tongue went down to run against the scar on Kacchan’s chest. The blood that trickled from Izuku’s chest started to cover Kacchan’s body, almost bathing him in it and soaking the pristine white clothing he wore with a deep and dark red. Izuku let his tongue pick up his own blood and smeared it against the wound. Kacchan shuddered beneath him. It was probably painful, but he didn't protest, and Kacchan finally let his hands relax as he rubbed against Izuku’s arms. His arms almost felt blistered with the heat that Kacchan was radiating, but who cared? Not Izuku, that was for sure.
His wings expanded from underneath him, making him look almost ethereal as he lay down. From above him, Izuku’s wings unfurled as he tried to cover Kacchan from the sight of any other onlookers.
With a few more licks at his nipple, he had Kacchan once again trying to move from underneath him. He was flushed, and he avoided Izuku’s gaze as Izuku’s clawed hands gently raked up his bare thighs. Kacchan’s thighs tightened around him, trying to close, but Izuku was faster to keep himself planted between them. They held a lot of muscle for how lithe they appeared.
“Kacchan’s legs are so beautiful. You could crush people between them, couldn’t you?”
“Obviously…” he said, trying to play it cool, despite his own body clearly being so flushed and hot from just a few touches. He was lucky that he still remembered how to take care of Kacchan in just the way he liked it. His hands traveled higher to his inner thigh, and he could see Kacchan struggling to keep still as he fought to urge to kick Izuku. It was his natural reflexes, and he had kicked Izuku a few times, mostly by accident, when they first had sex. He knew how to avoid this, though. Izuku gently stroked his inner thighs to coax them more open. Izuku’s cock was already impossibly hard. A large knot grew at the base that he had never had before when he was a human, but otherwise, his cock only seemed to grow in size and didn’t differ much from a human cock. It hung heavy between his legs and Izuku tried to resist the temptation to rub his cock on Kacchan’s leg like a dog in heat. Usually, when he did that, Kacchan would only get more tense, which meant having to fight his natural reflex to hide any vulnerability even more. So he let his cock remain curved and upright against his stomach. The head a light red while a slight amount of precum started to wet his cock.
The same memory played in his head. Kacchan had been under him like this. The only reason he had been the first one to top him was because he had one a fight against Kacchan and earned the right to fuck him. Of course, after that, Kacchan tended to only like to bottom, but initially, he had been scared to.
“Kacchan, promise me if you feel any pain, you’ll let me know, okay?” Izuku had said in his memory.
“Nothing you could do would hurt me, I bet I’ll barely even feel it!”
Of course, that led to Izuku trying to put it in with not enough prep, and Kacchan immediately flinching the moment the head of Izuku’s cock sunk deeper into him. They had to stop there after that. The two left it off with a handjob and went upon their day.
He could feel Kacchan tense underneath him, and Izuku bent down in between Kacchan’s legs to lick at his taint. He was hard, but it barely compared to Izuku’s cock.
“Don’t worry, we got better at it, Kacchan.”
“You better have!”
He went back to licking and lavishing his perineum with thick saliva while his hands kept Kacchan’s thighs at bay. Izuku moaned aloud as he finally got a taste of precum dripping down the other’s hard dick. Kacchan couldn’t sit still now, clearly fussy and unable to relax even as an Angel.
He bit his lip hard and used his arm to cover his face from the sheer amount of shame that was coursing through his body.
“You’re so sweet, Kacchan. You taste amazing and are perfectly open for a demon to come use. Do you-” Izuku couldn’t hold back as he rutted on the hard floor between his thighs. His knot rubbed in just the right way to get friction to stimulate him. “Do you want me to use you?”
“No, no one can use my body! You’re not any different you…you damn demon” he wasn’t even looking at Izuku, most likely ashamed at how much he enjoyed being so doted upon. Izuku used the chance of his distraction to let his tongue dive a bit deeper into the tiny furl beneath him. He gasped aloud.
“Wait, I-”
A little deeper and he was eating him out. Kacchan tasted like pure energy. Clean, untainted, and honey-like. It almost hurt his cheeks to keep licking at his delicate insides. His hole tried to keep him out desperately, but all it took was a bit of pushing to slip it inside. His tongue was peeling from the pure heat. Too much and yet, not enough.
Then another memory came to mind. The two sat together, eating and laughing. It had been Christmas Night, and Kacchan had spent all night making fun of him for various things. To the way he got up that morning, to how he forgot to complete some paperwork.
Izuku smiled as he pushed his tongue deeper. His tongue grew hotter as he reached into Kacchan’s core, and he finally started hearing soft gasps from the other as they would leak out.
“T-this is so filthy, so gross…how the hell can you get off on eating ass?”
Izuku didn’t answer him before he retracted his claws and started to sink a finger inside. Just the tip had Kacchan closing his legs again as he kept moving.
“Wait, wait, shit, it’s too deep”
It was barely a finger, but Izuku waited for Kacchan to adjust, which just meant waiting for Kacchan to go back to silence and trying to ignore his body for any sexual pleasure. After a while, another memory arose. One that he remembered every day, Kacchan falling on top of him as he defended him from the explosion, and later, Dabi. A shout erupted from Kacchan’s throat as his wings seized up. Izuku only let his lips trail over Kacchan again to help him.
“You saved me, Kacchan. You-you died trying to protect me…I’m sorry I couldn’t tell you all this time. That I was too cowardly to say”, Izuku’s voice cracked, and he lay his head against Kacchan’s thigh.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention. I'm terrible, I know, but please forgive me, Kacchan. Please stay with me.”
Kacchan let out a shaky breath as he spoke, “I don’t know why I did that. What the hell was so special about you that I would throw my life in an instant the moment you were at risk? What was wrong with me?”
“There was nothing wrong with you. You just are a good person, a good Angel.”
“Shut up, you’re so embarrassing…you fucking sap. I can’t believe I died trying to save you. That’s pathetic.”
Kacchan looked away, but he didn’t protest as Izuku pushed his first finger all the way inside of him. More of Izuku’s blood squirted onto Kacchan with each beat of his heart.
“Mmgh- too, too deep”
Kacchan’s body was sweating, and the blood that burst from Izuku’s burning skin only joined the other fluids. A second finger went inside and Izuku whined aloud as his cock smushed against Kacchan’s thigh. Thick precum came from the Angel, and he tried to muffle his moans behind an arm as Izuku became more and more desperate.
“I’m…I’m gonna-ghh-” Izuku didn’t have a chance to properly warn Kacchan as he spray thick ropes of cum over his thighs, further claiming the man as his. All of Izuku’s blood and cum covered the pretty angel and Kacchan almost whimpered as his body was covered and defiled by the demon. Izuku’s head fell back, and his canines popped out as his wings flapped behind him. This Angel was his.
Kacchan tried to sound confident then as he removed his arm from his face to smirk at the display.
“So desperate. Haven’t even got it in yet and you’re- fuck!”
Izuku pushed another finger deeper and Kacchan locked his cum coated thighs around Izuku.
“S-stop, shit…I can’t-nngh”
“You can, Kacchan. You’re amazing, Kacchan. You can do anything!”, Izuku said, panting as his cock was already growing hard again. Izuku lay his head against Kacchan’s blood-soaked belly and rubbed his head against him. All of Kacchan was his now. He was his light, and he was back. It was so selfish to want Kacchan to stay with him, and he would ultimately give him the choice, but right now, it felt so good. His cock rutted against Kacchan as his fingers started searching for his prostate.
Kacchan loved having his prostate stimulated, and Izuku knew that for a fact. It didn’t take long for him to find it, and he felt Kacchan slam his head back into the floor as his body erupted in louder explosions. Some of Izuku’s skin was completely singed off and it stung but the pain only went straight to his cock.
“Fuck! Shit-nngh” Kacchan tried to stay quiet, but Izuku’s thick fingers kept digging into the sensitive spot, causing Kacchan to try to squirm away.
“Nnngh, stop, feels so…weird”, he bit his lip and kept trying to remain hidden from Izuku, but he wouldn’t let that happen. Izuku groaned, his chest almost rumbling as he tore away Kacchan’s arm from his face to see the poor thing completely flushed and tearing up. He clearly wasn’t used to this.
He kept trying to turn his head, but Izuku kept talking to him regardless.
“You’re so pretty, Kacchan. You don’t need to worry. I’ll take care of you. I won’t let anyone hurt you. Just let yourself enjoy this”
“I don’t need you to protect me! I protected you, remember?! So-” a particular jab to his prostate had him whine, “So stop blaming yourself or whatever! I protected you because I wanted to, because you couldn’t handle it alone!”
Izuku felt so cold when he heard that. He knew that Kacchan would say that, and would never blame him. Somewhere deep down, he knew that Kacchan had made his decision, but Izuku almost wanted him to blame him more. All he wanted was for Kacchan to be furious with him. But he wouldn’t. Not the Kacchan he knew. Would Kacchan be mad at him for dying too? For knowing how he died and how he most likely got sent to Hell? He couldn’t tell. Izuku tried to stop himself from crying, but he couldn’t.
“Kacchan, why? Why couldn’t you have just let me take the hit? I was so alone. Everything ached when you were gone. I just wanted you back…I couldn’t live without you.”
Kacchan would never leave him again. He would never be separated from him.
Kacchan gritted his teeth and shuddered as he accepted Izuku’s feelings head-on. Felt the other keep pushing into his prostate before his body started to tremble, and he couldn’t hold back anymore.
“B-because, it was my choice-ahh”, he came untouched all over his stomach and he whimpered as his cock spurted out milky, white cum. Izuku gave him no chance to relax, though. He pulled Kacchan by his thighs as he tried to get up and started pushing his cock inside the tight hole. It was still lax from Izuku’s thick fingers, and he heard the Angel cry out as tears started to trickle down his cheeks.
“H-hurts…please…Izuku, ahg. More, please, fuck more”
Izuku didn’t need to be told twice as he shoved deeper inside. He watched as the tight ring of muscle slowly stretch impossibly wide over his cock. The rim was completely red and puffy, and he could tell it was straining him already, but Izuku wanted his knot in. Izuku pulled back his cock before pushing deeper and dragging Kacchan’s back across the floor as he groaned.
His toes curled as Izuku’s knot started to bully itself deeper into him. Kacchan kept shifting side to side.
“Please, fuck, it hurts..ahh…Just put the rest in already, hurry up!”
Kacchan was trembling as he pulled out, practically dragging Kacchan’s insides with it before ramming into him deeper. Izuku barely got a chance to properly fuck him. It was so hot inside of Kacchan, almost as if he stuck his dick in an oven, and impossibly tight. With each shift of Kacchan’s squirming, he could feel his gut twitch against his cock. It was too much for Izuku, and he let out a soft moan as he came into Kacchan’s hole. More and more. He saw the tight hole trickle cum from the sides of his cock as he overstuff the smaller angel. Kacchan was still shuddering, but his cock was hard and Izuku wrapped his hand around his cock causing Kacchan to burst open his eyes.
“Wait-no…I can’t cum again…I can’t-nn”
Izuku stroked his cock hard and fast and the other tried to move away but his most sensitive organ was at Izuku’s mercy as he started panting. His voice was higher pitched as he tried to speak Izuku’s name through his labored breathing, only to fail before he practically squealed as he spurted thin cum over Izuku’s hand. Finally, he was done. He pulled out of the other and reveled in the way that Kacchan’s hole was entirely slack and flooding with cum. Izuku lay over Kacchan, connecting their chests as he did, and that was when the final memory played that day. The memory of Izuku’s death. Izuku remembered feeling cold and lonely, and Kacchan said only a few words.
“You’re…You’re an idiot. Why?” he tried to talk, but his voice was weak and raspy, “Why did you go alone? Didn’t you say never to do that?”
“Because I’m selfish, Kacchan. I’m a Demon for a reason. I can’t live without you. Even when you risked everything for me, I still threw it all away…I’m sorry”, Izuku sobbed into Kacchan’s side. Kacchan let him cry for once before he spoke.
“You’re not a Demon, and I’m not an Angel. This entire system is flawed. We have to change it. Got it? There’s a reason why we’re here, so stop crying. It’s annoying.”
Izuku looked up at him, a wobbly smile on his lips as he cried, “Maybe you’re right about the demon and angel thing, but I don’t know. I don’t know what I think about all this. All I know is that I love you, Kacchan, and that I’ll never leave you. Where you go, I go. I want to be by your side to help you change it. To help people from being stuck in a position like you or me”
Kacchan only smiled, “Then what’s stopping you? You go where I go, right? Then come with me.”
They were combined in some way. No longer only a demon, nor only an angel. They were together, though, and that was all that mattered.
