Work Text:
“Why do we have to turn out the lights?” Big Bird asked.
“What do you care? You don’t even have lights in your nest!” Oscar glanced inside his trash can. “How am I supposed to watch TV over your birdbrained snoring?!”
“Well, Big Bird, we have to turn out the lights so that I can work on finding a way to move Earth so it doesn’t get eaten.”
“Someone eat planet?” Cookie Monster popped in to say. “Me never eat planet. Me eat cookies!”
“Well, Galactus does, so we have to work together to save energy.” Reed told him. “You too, Oscar.”
“Say, I heard he wanted your baby, Sue.” Oscar glared at Franklin in Sue’s arms.
“I’m not giving him my baby,” Sue told Oscar firmly, frowning at the grouch as she hugged Franklin tighter. “But I’m not going to let him eat Sesame Street, or anywhere on Earth. We’re going to save the Earth together.”
“Fine, I’ll stop watching TV at night.” Oscar grumbled.
“But what if I wake up scared?!” Big Bird’s beak opened wide.
Johnny flew into frame, flaming “Light a candle!”
“But I’m not allowed to play with matches!”
“Well, one of the grownups can do it for you.”
“You’re not burning my trash for a nightlight!” Oscar shouted at Big Bird.
“Maybe me eat Planet Eating Monster.” Cookie Monster said, as Bert and Ernie entered the scene.
“I’ve seen you eat a frying pan, but I don’t think you can eat him.” Ernie stared at Cookie Monster, shocked.
“I’m glad we have this power curfew. It means Ernie can’t turn on the lights in the middle of the night when he gets up to dance.” Bert's unibrow went down in anger.
“Well, I can still get up, Bert.” Ernie snickered, and Bert sighed.
“If you’re scared in the dark, hug your bear.” Ben’s hand entered the screen, picking up Radar in a massive, rocky fist and holding him out to Big Bird.
“Thanks, Ben.” Big Bird tucked Radar under a wing.
“Remember, we all need to work together to save the planet.” Reed told the camera. “We can all be heroes if we do this together.”
