Maslanii Nakar'ad

Summary:

I plan to work on a Mandalorian themed story and my mind is already full with worldbuilding ideas, cultural tid-bits and tradition creation. One of them is related to mourning, funeral customs and last goodbyes - and I had a perfect song in my mind which I totally felt befitting the Mandalorian culture to be used as a funeral lament.

I pushed this idea to the end of my WIP-list at that time, but recently I've finished reading the original, English version of Republic Commando. I knew what was going to happen, I did choke up at Etain's death as expected... but Manda help me, I was not ready the raw pain and grief of all the others afterwards. I cried for hours with them and suddenly I knew I have to do this Mando'a transciption NOW.

So I offer this mando'a mourning song as a tribute to Etain Tur-Mukan. Rest easy, sweet girl. You are remembered eternally.

Notes:

This mandalorian mourning song was inspired by and is a modified transcription of the folk song "Wayfaring Stranger". I am especially taken by the cover of Rachel Hardy, her haunting performance just makes it the perfect lament.
