Work Text:

"You know," Moondae started, looking out the window with a can of beer in hand. The dorm was dark, yet all of members of TeStar were there- even if most of them were already half asleep, leaning against the couch or the coffee table. It was quiet, with only the sound of the random drama they turned on the TV playing on low volume in the background.

They were in the middle of the comeback preparations, so short, peaceful moments like these were hard to come by. They should use this time for catching up on sleep, really, but surprisingly enough, Moondae suggested they should order some take-outs and hang out for a moment.

"Hm?" Sejin hummed from where he was scrolling on his phone, back againts the couch. He was chewing on the last bite of a slice of pizza, which he quickly swallowed.

Moondae stayed silent for a moment longer, eyes still looking out the window. Then he turned back, looking at them one by one.

Sejin, phone now sitting on the coffee table in front of him, looking at Moondae. Ahyeon, sitting with knees up on the couch behind Sejin. Eugene, already half asleep but his head tilted towards Moondae. Raebin, who quickly shook his head awake before looking at Moondae attentively. Sejin-hyung, who had his head leaned against his arm while he sat with crossed legs on the floor. Cheongwoo-hyung, who sipped at his own can of beer, before smilling softly.

Moondae looked away again, turning his gaze back to the large open windows. He stared, at the dark night sky, at the bright stars, at the twinkling city lights...

None of the members prodded him. None of them asked what he was about to say. They waited, patiently and listening.

His talk with Cheongwoo-hyung made him realized a couple of things. Perhaps that was also the reasons why he impulsively suggested their late-night take-out dinner, watching shitty random dramas on television while laughing at random memes on the internet.

Moondae took a breath. He exhaled softly.

"You know," He repeated. The pause has gone on too long. "My life is weird,"

From the corner of his eyes, he could see Eugene nodding sleepily in agreement. Raebin lightly slapped the back of his head.

He continued, a small smile growing on his face.

"I'm also weird,"

Ahyeon perked up, about to cut him off, but Sejin put a hand on his thigh, nudging him to back down. He did.

"You guys...probably noticed. The inconsistencies," Moondae took another sip. "When I told you guys about my life, or my past, or anything like that,"

"Isn't that because hyung has amnesia?" Raebin spoke up, tilting his head confusedly. Moondae chuckled, putting down his beer can and crossing his legs, leaning back. The stars really were bright that night.

"I lied about some things," He said instead. A confirmation, somewhat, and all of the members picked up on it immediately, even the maknaes.

"But what I said about other things are true as well," Cheongwoo-hyung raised an eyebrow, probably remembering their conversation from before.

"I can't tell you guys all of it- not yet. Not when I myself don't understand what's happening," He does not dare to look back. "My life is weird, and confusing, and sometimes everything is too much,"

"But please don't worry,"

"How can we?"

Sejin was the one who spoke up, voice oddly low and soft. He was also looking out the window, at the same stars Moondae was looking at that moment. "Of course we'll always worry for you, MoondaeMoondae~"

"You're also apart of us," Surprisingly, Sejin-hyung was the one who spoke next, ears a bit red with embarrassment. "I think it's right for us to worry over you,"

Moondae sighed. Sometimes, he wondered how he ended up here. All these about status windows, death, time travelling and regressor maniacs, and yet he still has enough luck to end up with these guys. With TeStar.

"One day," He promised, to himself, and to his family, "I'll tell you guys the truth, one day,"

"W- we'll wait," Ahyeon spoke firmly, straightening up. "W- whether that day is near or not, we will definitely wait, Moondae-ya."

"We'll always wait for you, MoondaeMoondae," Sejin stood up, walking a step or two to close the short distance between them, before sitting besides Moondae, leaning against him. Ahyeon shortly followed, quiet in his steps, and he too leaned against Moondae when he sat down again.

Moondae felt warm. The feeling that used to be so foreign to him was now familiar; in the way both Sejin and Ahyeon leaned on him, in the way Cheongwoo-hyung draped a blanket over them and the warm mug of tea Sejin-hyung made for him, in the way both Eugene and Raebin bickered quietly with each other before they settled close as well, lying on his lap.

Three years. It took him three years to realize he is definitely home now.
