First Ever Sleepover

Summary:

After a long night of patrolling, Peter just wants to relax in his warm and cozy bed, but his apartment is all the way back in Queens, and currently he’s all the way in Manhattan. He really doesn’t want to swing back right now, and the Baxter Building is right there. He can see Johnny’s window from where he is standing.

Notes:

Peter is twenty and Johnny is nineteen turning twenty in October in this fic. Hope I did well because I’m not really that good at writing so I hope you all enjoy.

Work Text:

A cold, dark night, after a long night of fighting crime, Peter just wants to sleep. Just to get somewhere warm. Somewhere that he is not in this late September weather, with only his spandex suit on.

He has been sitting on a building waiting for something to happen. Anything to happen, but nothing does, so he decided to call it a night. He’s dreading the swing back home. He’s already cold. Swinging is gonna make it so much worse.

He finally stops procrastinating going home, and just jumps off the building. Mid-swing, the Baxter Building catches his eye. He immediately stops on the side of the closest building.

He debates going to the Baxter Building and asking Johnny if he could spend the night. Him and Johnny have been friends for years and have been dating for a few months, but they have never spent the night at each other’s places before. They have been on dates numerous times, have hung out for hours upon hours, but have never slept in the same place before.

Peter knows that Johnny isn’t going to tell him no, but deep in the back of his mind, there is a little tiny voice saying “What if” that’s nagging at him. Peter sits there for a couple more seconds before thinking What the hell and jumping off the building to swing to the Baxter Building.

Landing on the side of the building with a thumb, he starts to climb the building. He has done this many times before. Climbing up to visit the Fantastic Four on plenty of occasions. Knowing which window goes to which place.

He has visited Johnny so many times before, but never in the dead of night, asking if he can spend the night. He’s a little nervous. He knows Johnny is going to say yes, but Peter really doesn’t want to be a bother to him, and at this time of night, Johnny is 100% asleep.

Peter is now at his window and looking in; he can see a dark shape in Johnny’s bed. The lights are all off, so it’s kinda hard to tell.

Peter starts feeling a little bit like a weirdo just staring at him, so he knocks on the window, trying to get his attention. He sits there waiting for any movement. When he gets no response, he knocks one more time, getting nervous that he isn’t going to answer. He knocks once more a little louder. Peter is hesitant, unsure if he can hear him through the window when he says, “Johnny, are you asle—?”

“Ahh- wh-what the?” Peter tensed up as Johnny throws his body up into a sitting position, throwing his head back and forth, looking for whoever had talked. Johnny finally meets his eyes. “Spidey?”

“Heeyyy Johnny,” Peter says, feeling a bit bad for scaring him. “Sorry for scaring you. Is there any way I can come in?” Peter gives him a half small smile, not that Johnny could see with the mask in the way.

“Peter?” he says, confused. Throwing his blankets off of him. “What are you doing here? It’s like one in the morning. Is something happening? What’s wrong?”

He really didn’t mean to freak him out at all. “Nothing is wrong. I was just in the neighborhood and wanted to stop by and ask a question, that’s all,” he says as Johnny is opening the window (it’s like a German-style window).

“A question? At this time of night?” He backs up, letting Peter in. “Is it something serious?”

“No, no, everything’s fine.” He chuckles, taking off his mask. “I was just a couple blocks down the road, and I was about to go home, but um,” he hesitated. “Well, uh, I was just kinda dreading going home because of how cold it is outside, and I was just hoping that, if it’s ok with you, if I can sleep here instead.” He nervously smiled, tightening his grip on his mask.

“And you had to come through my window? You know we have doors, right?” Johnny gave him a deadpan look before turning around and walking back to his bed.

“Well, the window is the fastest way,” he laughs as Johnny goes to sit on his bed before pausing. “And I also didn’t want to wake anybody else up.” He takes a few steps forward. “So is that a yes? That I can stay here?”

Johnny turns and sits down and just stares at him for a second, like his just asked a question with the most obvious answer in the world. “Of course you can, webhead. Just close the window behind you.” He says, before flopping back on the bed. Peter just laughs a bit more before turning around and closing the window.

Peter walks to Johnny’s bed before also flopping on the bed right beside him. They lay in silence for a bit before Peter turns his head to Johnny and opens his mouth, “I didn’t scare you too bad, did I?” Johnny turns his head to him with a dirty look.

“I’m going back to bed.” Johnny turns and crawls back to the middle of the bed and gets under the covers. Peter also gets up to crawl into bed with him before he gets stopped by Johnny, shooing him away. “You’re not allowed to sleep in the same bed with me if you’re gonna wear that. Go to my closet, and change into something that’s not that.” Peter looks down at his Spider-Man suit, surprised for a second that he was even wearing it.

“Why are you always against my suit?” He laughs before turning around and going to look through Johnny’s closet. He can hear Johnny groan as he cuts on his closet light. In there, he finds a dark blue pair of sweatpants and a white t-shirt with a logo he doesn’t recognize.

He decides that they are good enough and gets changed right there in Johnny’s walk-in closet. He throws his suit, balled up, in a corner close to the closet door before cutting off the light and heading back to Johnny. “Does this suit you taste better?” Johnny just glanced at him, half-asleep, and gives him a hum of approval.

“Hurry up and lay down. I want to go back to sleep already.” Peter smiles as he slides into bed. He scoots over to Johnny, putting his arm around him. Johnny turns to face him. “Good night, Petey.” Johnny smiles at him, putting his warm hand on Peter’s hip and giving him a peck on the lips.

Peter gives him a small peck back, while pulling him a bit closer, taking in his warmth. “Good night, Johnny.”

Notes:

I think I did alright for my first ever fanfic but I still hope you all enjoy this as much as I did writing it. :)
