Chapter Text
-Sanji’s POV-
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me.
I didn’t know where I would run but I knew I needed to run somewhere, to get away from Him.
The farther across the battlefield that I got the more corpses I saw, the corpses of the Gods, the ones that once protected this world, the ones that once was my family.
Now they were gone, becoming one with the universe that once held them dear.
I could still hear his footsteps behind me, they felt louder than they should as if someone had turned up the volume, they were getting closer rapidly, soon he would catch up.
“How did it end up like this?” I kept asking myself over and over again.
“The gods were meant to be forever strong.” I felt exhaustion taking over my body.
I couldn’t keep doing this for much longer, eventually I would falter.
Suddenly I felt something sharp hit my back and it getting caught up in my wings, I felt it continuing downwards ripping my wigs off in the process.
I let out a bloodcurdling scream as I saw the once white feathers, now stained red, falling to the ground and I stumbled forward falling onto the ground.
The ground was rough under my palms and I scrambled to turn over and get back up but before I could turn and continue running, I saw the sword coming back down this time hitting my shoulder.
I felt it slice through my flesh and my arm fell heavy to the ground.
Pain exploded throughout my body and warning signals started blaring in my head.
This time I was prepared and I did not lose my balance but I wobbled as the pain threatened to take over.
“How?!” I asked myself, “A Gods flesh is supposed to be indestructible, not able to be subjected to change” I heard Katsuki’s strict voice echo in my head, kinda ironic considering I saw his body laying face down in the dirt only a couple moments ago while I was running.
I used the last of my energy to send a kick at his abdomen, the usual impressive strength in my legs now gone along with my hope and it only gave him another chance to strike, the sword went smoothly through my leg and I fell to the ground.
No longer being able to stand, I tried to crawl away from him. He delivered one last strike and I felt making a large gash across my face and ripping out my eye in the process, I felt the blood rushing down the side of my face and my eye dangling from my eye socket, not my face, anything but my face I thought as I stayed down on the ground.
I was taller than him and usually I would’ve towered over him but now I felt small sitting on the ground, like a fallen tree.
“Any last words?” His voice cut through the silence, rough from his own exhaustion.
I just glared at him not daring to give him the satisfaction of hearing me beg for my life.
He noticed my silence and sighed.
“Very well” he said sounding bothered by something.
He pulled up his weapon once more and positioned it so that it would go straight through my heart, a quick death.
I closed my eyes and prepared myself for the blow.
I heard him let out a surprised sound as I felt a warm body against my own, I felt the sword pierce my body right after but it didn’t go all the way through, it was only shallow.
I opened my eyes and was met with someone standing with their back to me, I prayed that it wasn’t who I thought it was but when I looked up I was met with green hair, it was Izuku.
I had wondered where he went when we got separated at the start of the fight, it seems he had survived after all.
I felt the sword being pulled back out of my body, it was like getting stabbed all over again and I felt the blood dripping down my chest and mixing with the dirt covering my once white clothing the same shade as the feathers, I saw Izuku raising his hand and bringing down his scythe hard across the mans chest, the momentum caused him to be thrown back several meters and he was struggling to get back up.
Izuku swayed back and forth before falling down into my lap.
I used my remaining arm to hold his head against my chest, smearing the blood onto his cheek.
I held him close as I begged him not to leave me too, I needed him, I didn’t know what I would do without him.
I looked down at him and he gave me a small smile before I saw the light leave his eyes, I felt his body going limp and getting heavier.
I gently put his body down onto the ground and looked over at Max’s corpse laying still a couple meters away.
I crawled over to him While the man was recovering from the hit, I twisted his arm until the prosthetic eventually lost its grip and popped off his shoulder, I put it on my own shoulder before doing the same with his leg.
I slowly stood up and walked back over to Izuku, the pain in my arm and leg was agonizing as the prosthetics hadn’t adjusted to my body yet.
I stepped in front of Izuku right as the man got back up, we made eye contact and I quickly picked up the scythe.
We looked at each other for several seconds before I started running, every step was agony but I continued anyway.
I had one goal in mind, avenge the Gods, avenge Izuku.
I struck across his chest over and over again, I kicked at his chest, this time with adrenaline running through my mind clouding over my usual morals.
I made a final strike, this time slicing at his arm, it didn’t go through but it left a deep wound.
I started swaying and I stopped my attacks to steady myself.
I saw the man turning his back and running away, I had half the mind to chase after him, but the spots in my vision stopped me.
I felt myself falling on my knees and then face first on the ground.
I thought about what would happen now, I knew I would never be the same, I would never get over Izuku’s death, would I even survive?
I guess I’ll have to wait and see.
The spots gradually took over my vision and I passed out due to the blood loss.
