Periods were NOT a new occurrence for Hal, in fact, she had gotten her first period at 10 years old.
Picture a little girl sleeping on her bed and waking up in the middle of the night to a wet spot in the crotch area. At first, she thought she peed herself but looking closer it turned out it was blood.
She was confused and scared at first but could guess what had happened. Her older sister had her period before and had already told her all about it. And sure she didn't know what pad was and how to use it she figured it out.
Anyways, back to the point, she was not a menstrual cycle novice.
The problem wasnt she couldnt handle periods, it was that she didn't account for aunt flow when it came to being a lantern.
The green lantern ring can only do so much. For example it did let her breathe in space but it couldn't get rid of natural pain, like twisting an ankle or stomach cramps.

The mission was not going well. They had originally been sent there to make negotiations, ok, that sounds easy!! They could do that.
Well apparently not.
They had arrived on a planet called Opinuuym. The planet was on the verge of conducting a surprise attack on a neighboring planet. The lanterns had received an anonymous tip telling them about upcoming event.
Hal had tried to tell the other lanterns that this sounds suspicious but they just kept brushing off her concerns all valid by the way.
But whatever. She can deal with it. Not like it matters anyway.

.
So they're fighting right now.
How fun! Lanterns always know how to have a party! As it turned out, the people of Opinuuym were in cahoots with the yellow lanterns!
Looking back at the previous events it made so much sense, but ugh
Hal HATES the yellow lanterns. Wait, she doesn't hate them, she DISPISES them. Those stupid, ugly, grotesque, fascist, fear control extra-fucking-terrestrials!
Wait thats mean. Pretend she didn't say anything. She's usually not like this she swears.
Back to fighting, they are not winning the battle.
And guess what? Now Hailey Jordan is face to fucking face with Thaal sinestro trying to reason with him. The other lanterns are trying to tell her there's no reasoning with this red hot jalapeño ( purposely pronounced wrong as in jal-la-pin-no), Thaal's ugly big foreheaded ass is laughing that she couldn't bargin with him even if she tried, kilo -what ever the fuck- is yelling at her! Man!
By the way the other human lanterns weren't with her, so she was on the verge of flipping the fuck out!
"Thaal! Do you really, really, want to cause an unessasary war!" She yelled. She really didn't want to do this. She sneezed earlier... it wasnt pleasant.
"Oh Hal, you don't seem to understand, I purpo-"
Oof.
She groans and zones him out. It was the second day of bloody hell and the cramps are excruciating. The pains so bad she can't even think straight. The worst part was-OWW.
"Ooof!" She slowly sat down, "ouch..ow...... give me- ugh - give me a second..." Hal grasped her stomach and raised a pointer finger.
"What..are you doing?" Sinestro said looking down at her in concern? Disgust? She doesn't know, she doesn't care. Hal feels a big hand on her shoulder she already knows it's kilowog. "Are you ok?" He asked in his gruff voice.
"Yeah, I'm just on my period."
"Your what?"
"My... oh my god you guys don't know a Period is dont you."
They looked at her like she was insane.
"So,"
And so she explained the menstrual cycle to them and watched the gradual horror appear on everyone there's face.
"Omg!? This is happened and your here right know fighting!" Someone yelled.
"Yeah?! I can't just stop my life just for a week."
Thaal stared " and this happens to once to everyone with a 'uterus'" she stared at him
"Not everyone but most people have one every month-"
"MONTH?!"

"Yeah and so they sent me home."
She was at a bar with the human lanterns.
They were all sitting in a booth. Hal was sitting next to Kylie. The black haired girl stared at her.
"Really?" Hailey laughed and responded with a yep.
"And there gonna do that for all of us?"
"Yep."
Jessie -who was sitting in between the two not yet mentioned lanterns- raised an eyebrow
"Huh"
