Chapter Text
The night settled upon the once-grand, yet improving, manor. The quiet of the evening and the blood-soaked horizon was pleasant, compared to the constant bustle of terror in Oakhurst. The two vampires, having a moment away from humans, felt... At ease, in a way.
"Well, it's certainly an improvement." Owen said lightheartedly, "Though I wouldn't say you're the best at carpentry..."
Scott waved him off with his hand, "Oh I know, I know. It'll be better once I've got someone to do it for me... I'm not great with, unneeded manual labor."
Owen huffed in amusement, shaking his head fondly. "And here I was, thinking you'd changed."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Scott held a hand over his chest in mock defence.
Owen chuckled, "Whatever you want it to mean, Scott."
Scott huffed, crossing his arms and leaning over the railing of the pavilion, looking through the trees and out into the river surrounding his manor. "You're silly, Owen."
"Really? I'm silly?" Owen smiled, "If I'm silly then you're cute."
"Okay, that's a bit much." He said with nervous laughter, "I'm handsome, sure. But I wouldn't say cute."
"Oh I'm just pulling your leg." Owen lightly nudged his shoulder, "You're very handsome, rest assured."
"Yeah, thanks." Scott huffed playfully, looking away from Owen dramatically.
Owen looked out into the sky, thinking for a moment, his smile morphing into a comfortable frown. He looked over at Scott blankly. "Scott?"
Scott turned his head to face him, "Yeah?"
Owen lunged at him to kiss him, knocking them both to the floor in the process with an audible thud, and sending them both into a giggling fit.
"Owen! You're... Heavy!" Scott said between laughs.
Owen breathed weakly, giggling softly. "Apologies."
The two giggled for a little longer, before giving each other a moment to catch their breath. The duo looked at each other fondly, before kissing once more, this time deeper, uninterrupted.
When they pulled away, Owen sat up and let Scott free from his weight.
"See? Isn't it nice to lack the accompany of the townsfolk?" Scott tilted his head playfully.
Owen thought for a moment, nodding. "Suppose it is." He then looked up, smiling fondly. "Why don't you show me to your chambers?"
Scott nodded, standing up and holding out a hand to the younger vampire. "Of course. It would be my pleasure."
Owen took his hand, but didn't miss the opportunity to roll his eyes at the formality. The pair walked off the pavilion on onto the grounds to explore.
Not an interruption in sight.
