Kril was worthless.
No matter how hard he tried, he would never get his home back, never get back to the tidepool, never get out of this place.

Gunk filled his gills. All he could do was weakly march on to his inevitable death, but none of the creatures he passed so much as raised a claw at him.

And he was angry, so angry. Angry at that Loan Shark for taking his home, at Prawnathan for keeping it, at Roland for letting his employees die for the sake of profit, at Firth for treating Roland like a Cod, at everything and everyone for letting it get this far.

He was angry at the microplastics in his blood for polluting him beyond salvation.

He was angry at the microplastics in the water for polluting it beyond salvation.

There was no way to save them, they had all been damned long before they hatched.

And as his legs marched onward to some distant place
there was nothing in his head
