Patty's eyes slowly opened up, her eyes strained as she groaned and felt her throat feel all dried up. The room was still dark, a mix of black and blue, and the air was icy as well, making everything rather snuggly. The blonde woman blinked a little bit, her eyelids going up against her after this. When was the last time she fell asleep? This didn't feel like Lila's bedroom. Whatever she was lying on was not Lila’s bed. It was simply too small, and the texture felt different.
Patty was kinda half asleep. She knew that she was half asleep because she felt paralyzed. She wanted to move a little bit. She really wanted to, she needed to because she woke up. But it seemed like her body really didn't want to. It took a long while for her to even get up. Her body felt almost stuck to what she realized was Lila’s living room couch. She groaned a little bit and sighed as she felt her legs and arms go numb for a second.
“Come on,” she whispered with a tired drawl. Things were getting slow, and she hated it. She also realized that her body was getting extremely warm from her feeling of her girlfriend snuggling up next to her. “I don't want to be some statue,”
Patty sighed as she felt her eyes fully wake up after a little bit. She was finally able to make her head move around. It took me long enough, she thought. Now I have to just see what happened.
Patty knew what had happened the night before. At first, the memories from yesterday were not really there much in her brain. But once full consciousness unlocked itself to Patty. She could finally remember what had happened last night that led to this weird but rather wholesome situation she was in.
She got back from work at around five pm. Right at that point, Patty's girlfriend, Lila, and Lila’s son, Skid, finally came back home as well, a few minutes before Patty went home. Patty and Lila had a brief conversation about it. And after that, she remembered Skid saying something rather interesting to both women.
“Hey, Mom!” He said while Patty and Lila just stared at each other with a confused look on their face. “I heard they're airing the new Box Cutter and Dude Hellsing movies on TV tonight!”
“Tonight?!” Patty asked with a shocked look. She then turned her head to look at Skid and blinked a little bit. “They're airing the two new movies we all wanted to really watch tonight? For free on TV out of all places too?”
“You should have told us about this earlier son!” Lila's expression softened, and she quickly went back to her happy, sweet motherly self again. “That seems like a good idea! Sweetheart, do you want to watch those films today?”
Patty quickly widened her eyes and nodded once she realized Lila was talking to her now. She gave Skid a quick glance before nodding and smiling a little bit.
“Sure, why not?” Patty said as she went over and grabbed Lila's hand. She gently squeezed it as soon as she got a grasp of it, and Lila just squeezed back in reply. “It is Saturday after all, I don't see why we can't do it after dinner,”
“Really? Yay!” That was all Skid said before quickly running towards the kitchen after taking off his sweater and sitting down waiting for dinner, leaving both Patty and Lila to just stand around for a little bit in the living room. Both of them looked rather surprised and amused.
“Kids, am I right?” Patty asked, a rare stupid smirk on the blonde's face.
Lila giggled in response and shook her head as she heard Patty say that.
“Oh, be quiet!” Lila teased as she kissed Patty's cheek before turning her body towards the kitchen. “Come on, let's go. You must be as exhausted as I am from all that work! Let's cook together!”
“I'm not good at cooking though,” Patty said.
“Doesn't matter!” Lila replied, her voice having a little firmness to her cheerful tone. “It would be fun if we did it together! Just go and roll with it ok? Maybe we'll learn something new while making dinner together!”
“Ok, ok honey!” Patty said, as she slowly followed Lila into the kitchen. “Let’s cook some food then!”
The rest of the night, before Patty woke up on the couch, was just Lila and Patty making some amazing spaghetti together. That was followed by Patty, Lila, and Skid cleaning everything up before they all walked over to the living room and sat down on the couch to watch the two new movies that were on TV. And that was the last thing Patty remembered before waking up on the couch.
And that was what was happening now, as Patty gently felt Lila's long purple hair rub against her freckled cheek. Patty sighed again and closed her eyes as she felt her girlfriend’s warmth against her. She couldn't help but find Lila soothing in general, but especially her touch. Even while asleep Lila was as gentle as a surgeon in an operation. It made Patty's heart simply melt as she felt Lila's body all cuddled against hers.
Patty didn't expect that Skid was also snuggled up with her and Lila as well. Patty turned her head to see that the kid was also on top of Patty like her mother, under one of Lila’s arms, and leaning against her as he began to snore. It made Patty smile, feeling surprised that all of them just passed out like this. It was rather sweet that it happened. It made Patty feel like she was worth something, and it was heartwarming.
I mean, this clearly meant that Patty’s girlfriend and Skid trusted her and loved her for who she was. Patty didn't always have the best experiences with family.
Her family wasn't really the best to Patty besides her grandparents. And that was more evident when Patty found out she is a lesbian. She didn't even want to remember the arguing and everything else. Simply too tiring.
So when Patty began to date Lila and interact with Skid. Something changed in her, Patty began to feel nothing but the urge to care for them like they were her family.
She didn't know when she got this; it it it could have been the moment she reconnected to Lila after years not in touch after c,oll,ege, or just as recently as the many paranormal activities Skid brought with him wherever he went. Either way, Patty felt like this was a whole big symbol for her changing. For growth, and she couldn't help but enjoy every bit of it.
She yawned and then looked at the two most important people in her life for a couple of minutes. It felt surreal being in this situation. She couldn't help but take a moment to appreciate all of this. This was amazing, she didn't know what else this was.
After a while, she decided that sleeping on the couch wasn't a good choice. And judging by the outdoors, it was the middle of the night. Patty thought that things would be better if they all had a bed to be on. The sleep would be way better for everyone involved.
So once she got control of her limbs again, she finally decided that she would go and put Skid in his bed. Patty gently and quietly moved Lila to the side and gently made her let go. It was hard for a lot of reasons (Patty's reluctance being the biggest reason) but she knew it had to be done. So after a while moving and getting up, Lila was comfortably resting against the couch with her arms around no one.
Patty successfully got up. She then gently picked the sleeping Skid up with no real difficulty. He was passed out and looked like a very heavy sleeper. Skid was also extremely light and easy to carry, he was almost weightless. So Patty had no trouble just walking with him in her arms. It made Patty’s smirk rise to a gentle smile.
Patty patted Skid's head gently before she walked over to Skid's room. The sound of gentle footsteps seemed to make Skid more comfortable as he leaned into Patty's shoulder. After a bit, Patty finally went into Skid's room and opened the door quietly.
Things went on without any issues. Not even stairs went into Patty's way. Patty rested Skid on his bed and then gently tucked him in with a nearby blanket. She then said Skid good night before walking over to the door and opening it. She then gently closed the door and walked over to the living room without a sound or second thought.
“Ok, now since that's taken care of, it's time to get Lila to bed,” Patty muttered to herself as she began to walk to the living room. It was slow and almost methodical as she put her hands against the wall as a way to guide herself. “I think I carried her before. So this is going to be easy,”
After a while, she got herself into the living room. It did take her a while because she realized she was in total darkness. It did surprise her more than anything else. How was she able to bring Skid into bed without light? Oh whatever, Patty thought, I'll just try and do the same with Lila. This time I'll make an effort to have some light on so I don't crash into something by accident.
But as it turned out, someone turned the light on in the living room. Suddenly Patty's eyes got flashbanged as the brightness took over the darkness' reign over the living room. Patty quickly groaned and shut her eyes as she felt herself taking a little while to readjust. After a bit, she shook her head and finally got used to the light.
Once Patty was able to see again. She quickly noticed that a few inches from her was Lila staring right at her. Lila's face was just as tired-looking as Patty's. Her purple hair was all messy and unkempt as well, clearly showing how worn out she was.
“Patty?” Lila asked with a yawn as soon as she saw her girlfriend, her voice quiet and low as she rubbed her hair. “What happened last night? And where's our son?”
“I think we fell asleep together on the couch after watching those movies,” Patty replied as she stretched a little bit. “Skid was asleep and we were all cuddled up while passing out. I woke up and brought him to his bed,”
“Aww, you didn't have to do that! I usually do it!” Lila said with that same beautiful smile she always had. But that smile quickly changed into confusion again along with concern. “Wait, you walked with our son in your arms and put him to bed without anything happening?”
“Yeah?” Patty replied, blinking a little bit. “I was just as surprised as well. Didn't expect you to be up and all,”
“Well, I am and I wish I wasn't,” Lila muttered as she walked closer to Patty. Patty immediately responded by opening her arms and hugging Lila again. Lila hugged back and immediately buried her face in Patty's blonde hair. They both slowly stood there, holding each other for a bit until Lila gently cupped Patty's chin with one of her hands and brought her face up to hers. “Let's go back to bed, I need more rest,”
“So do I,” was all Patty replied as her cheeks suddenly turned red. She couldn't help but feel this way, feel all happy and relaxed. Especially with Lila doing this, holding her close and giving her the sweetest looks. It was something Patty didn't know she needed in her life until very recently.
Before they even moved into their room to rest again. Patty quickly felt Lila's soft lips touch hers, Patty kissed back and felt all warm afterwards. Both women relaxed and felt their bodies just feel warmer as all of this was happening. Lila gently grasped the back of Patty's head as she felt the kiss relax her. Patty only did the same for a couple of minutes before giving Lila a gentle squeeze again.
After a while, Lila pulled away from the kiss with a yawn and heavier breathing. Patty was the same, but she didn't yawn; she just felt dazed. Both of them stood there again for a couple of seconds before Patty felt Lila's hand gently grab hers with a firm but supple grip. Patty only squeezed Lila’s hand back and then just walked once Lila began to walk.
They both wanted to sleep, there was no need to say anything. It was late at night, and both of them just wanted to sleep together in bed for the night. So they turned the light off and then went to the bedroom afterwards.
Lila gently guided Patty into their room, taking extra care not to have her crash into anything. Right after that, Lila pulled some sheets down and then gently laid Patty on the bed. Patty didn't really mind it, as she let Lila put her on the mattress. It was nice.
Lila then lay down as she gently rested on her side for a bit before scooting closer until she was gently resting her head against Patty's chest. As soon as Lila rested herself on top of Patty, Patty just wrapped her arms around Lila and pulled a nearby blanket over the two of them. Not long after this, they were both warm and laid back.
After a while, Lila fell asleep quickly, her worn eyes closing as she drifted off. Patty only kissed the top of Lila's head and then rested her freckled cheek against it. She gently chuckled and closed her eyes slowly.
“Night Lila,” Patty whispered with one more yawn. “I love you,”
And just like her girlfriend and son, Patty relaxed and fell asleep. Her head rested on a pillow as she rested with Lila snuggling her once again. As always, Patty was finally at peace. And this rest clearly shows this enough.
