Lost souls

Summary:

Behind her, he ran—barefoot, desperate—his lungs screaming for air, his voice breaking as he shouted her name again and again. His heart pounded not just from the chase, but from the terror of losing her completely. He had hurt her, broken her trust beyond repair—and now, he was paying for it in full.

She stumbled, her knees scraping the wet ground, and then finally collapsed with an injured cry that sliced through the storm. For a heartbeat, the world seemed to pause. He slowed, terrified of what he’d done, before falling to his knees beside her.

“Pen,” he whispered hoarsely, rain dripping from his lashes, “I’m sorry—Pen, I’m so sorry.”

She flinched at his voice. When his trembling hands reached for her, she swatted them away as if they burned. Her entire body trembled—not from the cold, but from the sheer ache of betrayal.

“She carries your child!” she screamed, her voice cracking, the words almost devoured by thunder. “Oh God… no, no, don’t touch me! Don’t you dare!”

Chapter Text

Loss is always bitter — a slow poison that seeps into the bones, leaving the heart raw and ragged. But this time, it wasn’t just any loss. It was a tearing, a hollowing out from the inside. She wasn’t only losing someone she loved — she was losing herself.

Every fragment of certainty she had clung to was slipping through her fingers. Every quiet confidence, every carefully constructed layer of composure, was unraveling like fragile threads. She could feel the edges of her identity fraying, her reflection in the mirror staring back at her with unfamiliar eyes, questioning, accusing.

It was a hollow ache that no comfort could fill, a weight pressing down on her chest so heavy it made breathing feel like betrayal. To lose someone had always been painful, but to lose the version of herself that she had trusted, that she had believed in, was unbearable. The world shifted beneath her feet, and for the first time in years, she wondered if she would ever recognize herself again.
