S.W.A.K. (SWitched Ass Kiddads)

Summary:

“Nicholas where are you?” Grant says. He gets up from the counter and wobbles. He’s wrong shaped. He doesn’t quite know how to explain it until he looks down and sees Nicky’s pajama pants and Nicky’s tan chest where his body should be. Grant’s panic spikes to the ceiling. What the f**k? What the f**k!? What the f**k. He’s two layers of wrong and he doesn't like any of it.

“Nicholas, where are you?” Grant asks again. He’s scared that he already knows the answer.

“Right where I always am,” Nicholas says, his voice shakes only a little behind the irritation. ”What are you doing here?”

After an accident during a mission the Kiddads wake up in each other's bodies. Chaos ensues as they try to take care of each others bodies and get back where they belong.

I don’t usually do this but I want this fic to be as accessible as possible to people who haven’t read fics from the Drabbles and Daddies universe. Those characterizations are gonna be pretty important for the Body Swap Episode so here’s a run down of some info for each of the characters, or at least the stuff that is relevant. People who have read my stuff chime in if I should add something! 

For people who have read the Drabbleverse this takes place after most of the major fics including The People We’re Not, 2 hours, and 6-Month Hold. 

 

For everyone: you might ask yourself during this what are the rules to this body swap? What types of things go with a body vs a mind. Here’s the full book of rules I used to make my decision: I did whatever sounded like the most fun at the time.

 

And now for drabbleverse lore:

Lark- “The hot mess” Bipolar, fairly newly diagnosed in this fic. Still struggling to sort out meds and coping mechanism. Lives with Sparrow, Rebecca, and Hero. Not dating Nicky they’re just good friends. 

Sparrow- “Team’s dad!” Stay at home husband (besides D.A.D.D.I.E.S. work) and happily dating Rebecca. Not married but they’re living together. Rebecca makes the big bucks. Sparrow is fucking stressed out all the time, but you’ll figure that out. Very aromantic and like kinda ace but he doesn't think about that a lot. Demi is probably the word for it. 

Nicky- “Resident idiot and very cool guy” Nicky cohabitates his brain alongside Nicholas (13 year old boy scout) and Nick (15ish party kid). Very Dissociative Identity Dissorder adjacent if that disorder was caused by magic. Nicholas and Nick can front but spend a lot of time just living in the shared brain space commenting on Nicky’s life choices. Nicky is trans and the most hopelessly straight boy amongst the gang. He is living alone for now but has been dating Cass for about a year? She knows a lot but he hasn’t told her about the demon and magic stuff yet. 

Grant- “Absolute depressed boy™” . Grant has graduated college, has a job at the library but is also working with D.A.D.D.I.E.S. He and Marco are dating and living together in San Dimas. Marco knows about the Forgotten Realms and magic but SUPER DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT THE DOODLER AND GRANT’S “HOBBY” OF SHOOTING THINGS. Don’t tell him. Grant is Very Gay

Terry Jr. - “The functioning one (lie)”. Terry is a workaholic who spends most of his time trying to stop the doodler, keep D.A.D.D.I.E.S. running and keep his friends alive. He is very gullible and Lark often slips his watch if he’s on “Lark babysitting” duty. He and Grant have a less than lovers more than friends thing but otherwise he’s nearly as straight as Nicky. Could be on the greysexual spectrum but that’s probably just because the author is and so doesn’t really care to write romance.

Ps. A huge shout out to @Serikyl. They constantly feed me ideas that I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING WITH. (What a menace to DnDad society /lovingly). Anyway Serikyl said body swap and an hour later I was like, yes you are very right...body swap.
