15 Minutes: ZoeRumi Week Collection

Summary:

A lot can happen in 15 minutes. For Zoey and Rumi, those 15 minutes can mean so much across different points in time.

Notes:

The writing itch will not leave me alone, but I still have an art thing I have to get finished for a story/roleplay group. Solution?

A 15-minute writing challenge for ZoeRumi week. Every prompt each day will be written exactly within 15 minutes, no more, no less. Kinda similar to a bnha rarepair challenge I did a few years ago.

None of the one-shots are going to be connected, although I'll probably use some of my AUs as a base.

Starting this first one off in my college AU with "Long Distance/Sleep Call"

Chapter Text

"Are you sure you don't want me to pick you up? I can make it, I just-"

"Unnie, it's fine, really! It's late! You have classes in the morning, I'll be okay!"

Zoey stretched over the guest bed she was relaxing on. The weekend visit to Busan had been a godsend, a balm to her frazzled nerves. She almost wanted to jump up and get started on a new song, a new story, a new project, but she kept herself controlled for now. She still had to get up early if she wanted to make it back to her afternoon classes on time.

There's rustling of papers on the other end of the phone. "Well, I'll still make sure you see me tomorrow. I've missed seeing your smile over the weekend." Rumi replied.

Zoey's cheeks lit flame, and it took every ounce of willpower not to roll over and squeal. She rolled onto her stomach, lazily kicking her feet in the air. "I've missed hearing your voice when making coffee. My aunt likes to hum when making breakfast, but it's not quite the same."

"Oh? Are you saying your aunt isn't a good singer?" Rumi teased her.

Zoey giggled. "Far from it! It's just-" Those butterflies in her stomach were making their way up to her heart. "-Your singing is one of the things that helps me get through classes, ya know? It's like dripping motivation."

Zoey wondered if that was enough to make Rumi blush on the other side of the phone. She wished she could see her face right now.

The sound of a chair scraping and the swish of a heavy backpack being swung came through. "You're making me blush, Zoey," Rumi said shyly.

Zoey internally squealed.

"Good! I can't wait to see it tomorrow!" Zoey laughed, sitting up. "Will you at least see me at the train station, unnie?" She grabbed the giant turtle plushie she had lying on the pillow and held it close to her chest.

"Of course. I'll be the first person you see when you get off," Rumi chuckled.

Rumi, there at the station, waiting to greet her. Zoey could see it now, the two of them locking eyes. Rumi, with her incredible smile that rivaled the sun. The way Zoey would run over to the older girl, throwing herself into her arms. Rumi may even lift Zoey with her impressive strength, laughing as they spin around. Their faces getting closer, lips brushing, until they finally-

Zoey squeaked, burying her face against the top of her turtle plushie.

"Zoey?" There's a hint of concern.

"I'm okay. I just- I just can't wait until tomorrow, Rumi."

Notes:

They're so fricken cute uuugghhh my heart-
I have no idea why I went past tense on the first one, we'll see how the others turn out.
